@razor:
Nevermind I unforgive you.
What were the conditions of Scrambleverse; I mean, did it have only one activation?

After you answer I will ununforgive you.

Future iterations should really ban this type of thing.
I went from "hey, that's pretty cool" to "f*** this".
Yeah, pretty much killed my interest in the game before it even started.

Not sure why'd you design a game based around player choice and invalidate it the second it starts.

Ugh I have to get used to not editing posts as well.
@Rubik: I wouldn't have revealed this information until later. That's just me though; you could've trapped a person or two for lying.

@At complaints; hey now everyone got to pick a card for whatever reason. Somebody picked scrambleverse. You can't be mad at the host for that decision. Just like you can't be mad a Magic for a player casting Scrambleverse.
You really can't be mad at razor either (honestly I'm not mad razor, I'm just pulling your leg), razor did the same thing we all did, and did what he thought the most logical thing to do was.

What we should be doing is determining whether or not it was logical for town or for scum.

I'm inclined to believe that he did it for town-aligned reasons. Doing it now rather than later is certainly optimal for town, and probably detrimental for mafia. Sure, I might have prefered to keep my original card, but the game is what it is. A result of us and our choices. Zinger's just along for the ride.

I'm not really sure if I want to expose what my previous role was, since I think it could be fairly easy to spot, and knowing about it diminishes the effectiveness to some extent, as well as having other (imo) detrimental effect on the game. It is, at least, nothing like what I expected or wanted when I chose the card, so I wouldn't make too many assumptions Rubik.

We should all know the info Rubik knows. It'll help in the long run as it stands.

My ability was pretty good, too, I think.
I hope it's not in the hands of mafia right now.

Personally against claiming right now since whoever has Rubik's card now will (probably) know what everyone can do, which is pretty dangerous until we know that person's alignment.

@complaints
You have to expect that there's going to be a bit of dissatisfaction when the game doesn't quite come as advertised.
Some of us came in expecting to play as a card we picked (in my case, my favorite card, not a card I picked cuz I thought I could screw people over with), and we didn't get that.

@storyteller:

Explain yourself. Rubik has stated he can tell us the starting cards everyone had. All of us now have different cards. Where is the harm in knowing the original choices now that we no longer have those choices? Especially if some other player has access to a new set of information concerning what we currently have?*

* Note: Since we don't know who that person is who has Rubik's card, how do you propose we go about finding out their alignment to better our situation? We might as well search for a needle in a haystack.

This is done in good faith given the situation has changed greatly despite how short the game has progressed -- My original starting card was Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker.

I don't agree at all, really. My original card was Shahrazad. It didn't do the most obvious, literal effect, which is create a secondary mafia game that everyone would have been forced into playing. Clearly there isn't a "most natural translation = guaranteed card effect" rule. Switching it for one person instead of several would have been much better, or even limiting it until Day Three as some kind of arbitrary mana cost restriction would have been better.

Even night one would have been better post-day start. I put a fair amount of time into picking my card, was excited to play it, and then spent zero seconds as that card. In fact, this game is virtually indistinguishable from any other in terms of gimmick premise.

In terms of design pacing, this is just absolutely terrible. The shock factor of "WHOA I GOT A NEW ROLE" is way diminished when you see you have a new role PM before you even read your old one. I don't even like what it did to the game, it feels like some kind of weird DND-mishmash now of "do this or that" that will focus entirely too much on role mechanics instead of actual mafia gameplay.

I'm not "mad" at Razor for activating it, I simply strongly dislike the implementation in game - you create a big shiny red button that says "hey player, don't press this/this will cause mayhem" they will press it EVERY TIME and often sooner than not.

I get it. I just think some of the complaints are a bit harsh. I'm not trying to reprimand, I'm trying to redirect attention to the game, rather than griping about the game. That's what's important now.

We have two things to discuss that can impact how the game progresses.
1) Determining razor's intentions.
2) Possible claim/reveal of previous cards.

These two things give us an incredibly large amount of information to go on in comparison to most day one's I've seen. Let's not waste that time bickering and arguing about things that don't pertain to the progression of the game.

I'm all for claiming our previous cards, I dont' care much for the roles as I'm sure people would lie about it, and expect them to (even though there's no real point to lying about it now, for the most part. I think I have an idea of what Mown may be referring to.).

@PK:

That is a nonissue as far as I'm concerned. We have a game to play. Complaining about what happened and how it stole your choice away won't help us play the game.

And why do you assume the effect to know what everyone has is gone?
If, say, Rubik's card was Telepathy and he could tell what card each person had at all times, then whoever has it now can do the same.
If this is the case, if I told you what my old abilities were, the person who has Rubik's card now will now be able to tell what ability the guy who has my old card's abilities were.
Is this really desirable at this point in time?

I think his point is that I'm insinuating that I'm not mafia.

That sounds reasonable, given the card that you chose. :x

Whoever has my old role knows what every player's card is (but not the abilities, naturally).

I am aware I'm being harsh - I don't think it's undeserved though. While I am not personally angry, I see these games as a large time and effort commitment. I hope that in future games, if something similar is implemented again, it's done much better or, preferably, on a much smaller scale.

I don't think half a page of posts being critical on the topic is that detrimental to future conversation for the sake of future games. Now would be the moment for people to see this effect as a "norm" for future games or not.

---

I don't really see Razor's action as that complex a discussion. He had an ability that did something random, he activated it, seems more like random town pressing a button than not. Good enough for now.

I think he was complaining about my complaining regardless, but yes.

Yeah, I realized I misread it straight after, but I wasn't about to triple post.

Oh, that's normal to do in mafia all the time.
