Watching Shin Sekai Yori, currently at the half, and I am liking this anime a lot. It is mostly a mystery story with personal growth, quite a good story by the way. I don't make any idea how the story will end, which in my book is definitively a great quality.

The animation is not very good, but I don't care much for this aspect. The sound on the other hand is very good, normally I don't notice this, but in this anime it is quite difficult not to notice.

Just caught up on:
World Trigger - The invasion was pretty cool, I'm hooked to see how it evolves. The humor is pretty good and the funny faces have grown on me a bit.
Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in dungeons - The harem theme is stupid and the main character is a bit Mary-Sue-ish...but its still an interesting concept.
Durarara!! - Awesome show, thoroughly recommend it.

Just started:
Parasyte - The Maxim

Finished House of Five Leaves. A samurai period story. Great anime with very deep characterization and good doses of drama. It was not great in terms of plot, but it more than compensates with characterization and the plot is serviceable for the purpose.

The characterization is probably one of the best I saw, each character is unique and flawed in a good way (although they look almost the same). The plot is the weak link, but it works to deliver the story. The setting doesn't have anything special, but it is accurate.

I don't think anything needs to be perfect at all categories to be great, that is simply impossible. It only needs to excel in one and be at least good or sometimes regular at the others. Normally I divide into three categories: Plot, setting and characterization. The more one category is intensified, the more the others suffer. The best animes or books strike one category with full force, and tries to manage the others in a healthy balance.

Ok. Finished Parasyte - The Maxim. Really cool story with some good tension and interesting character development. Gets a bit preachy and heavy handed about it's message in the last few episodes though, otherwise cool.

I assume he means second cour (or winter season), which is probably like episode 13.

Ah. I can see that as an appropriate breaking point. I feel like they peeked at episode 18 and then just kinda threw stuff at the wall to finish it up.

Finished Fate/Zero: Also a cool series.
@Niklor: The twist wasn't the same...I didn't really even notice a twist in Fate/Zero. Same philosophical discussion though.

Started watching Mushi-shi but its really slow and quite. I thought it was gonna be a Horror show, and in a way it is, but it seems more focused on Human experience.

Finished Shin Sekai Yori. I have only one word for this anime: amazing. It is a emotional, deep, dark and a thought provoking story. It is an almost perfect anime in terms of plot, characterization and setting. It deserves a 10, no doubt.

It has begun. The official sequel of Dragonball Z, Dragonball Super has had its first episode aired.

The first arc takes place between the Majin Buu fight and the Battle of the Gods movie.

I'm pretty much over DBZ, although it will always have a place in my heart since it cemented Anime as something I enjoy (Vampire Hunter D introduced me to Anime). I just don't enjoy the arms race type of Anime: Oh no! They're super powerful and I can't touch them! Wait, I found something and now they can't scratch me! Wait! They found something and I can't scratch them! Wait, I found something else and now I win!

Rinse and repeat with each succeeding enemy. Plus Namek...dear God Namek...

I kind of liked Dragonball, more or less. I watched Dragonball Z, I didn't like it very much. I didn't bother with the rest.

Dragonball was cute, and had something of a plot. Dragonball Z had a single fight that could last several episodes and lose everyone's interest. At least we got Dragonball Z Abridged from it.

Go read my review of it for my reply to this post. I'm tired of retyping that all over the internet.

No seriously. It's only 2 clicks away using my sig.

^^ The one about fights taking 5 or 6 episodes...... now that is a much more valid complaint.

While I enjoyed DBZ at the time (when I was a growing child in the mid- to late-90s), I've since realized that I have no interest in re-watching it outside of the Abridged series. I pretty much realized this when I tried watching a few episodes of DBZ Kai when it first started airing. I remember feeling a sense of loss when GT put its finale out, but that week I was hit by a triple-whammy of loss: I finished the last Harry Potter book, GT put the final nail in the Dragonball coffin, and... something else that I can't quite remember anymore. Point being, it wasn't that big a deal in retrospect.

I have plans to eventually watch the original Dragonball, because I never watched it when I was young and I need to see at least one rendition of Journey to the West.

So, Chaos Dragon and Overlord have me pretty hyped up to see more. Chaos Dragon seems slightly better in terms of actual plot, but Overlord is just pleasing me deeply. Can't wait to see more of them as the season goes on.
