Where the **** did the lock on go? In a game where you are trying to execute precision moves, I miss the optional lock on that existed in some of the previous entries because I really would like some sort of sense that my chain grabs are going to hit the intended target so it gets stunned and can't finish shooting.

On a side note, what the heck? The voice acting sucks, and the conversation between Dante and the most recent boss literally devolved into "Who the **** are you?" "Go **** yourself". "No **** you." "No ******** you." and etc ad nauseum. ..... Great job guys. I really feel the tension building for this awesome boss fight.

You know I was really confused when you made your last post. I thought you had genuinely only now got around to playing a 14 year old game. Bloody video games and rebooting everythings titles. It's getting damned confusing.

...also DMC is 14 years old. Damn. I feel old.

If it makes you feel better, it's a reboot. Dante must take down the evil Coca-Cola Corporation and Fox News so that he can lure out the devil, only to have Vergil be the final boss because no one ever saw that coming.

The story sucks, but the combat is good. EXCEPT I KEEP MISSING THE STUPID TARGET. It's annoying when you throw a chain at 3 people and get the absolute worst one in the grab when you intended to get the archer.

No but it's really really bad this time. On a scale of Devil May Cry to The Last of Us, it would be -2 * Devil May Cry.

Back to Bloodborne today.

Since the Watchdog of the Old Lords at the bottom of the first chalice, I have not had nearly as much fun with a chalice dungeon boss until the final Hintertomb boss. The Pthumerian Lord down here was quite a fun and somewhat unique battle that kept me on my toes, taking 3 attempts to be able to beat with the final attempt being really clutch.

Advice for the swamp right before this boss? Um....... so you know how 90% of all the loot in chalice dungeons is worthless right? Well that holds true here. After this dungeon, you'll need arcane haze (from the haze extractor) and lots of high level materials, but most of the loot in this area is worthless to you. However, you do need blood(4) and that can be found by crossing the swamp, heading up the ladder, and making your way down into the treasure room guarded by another one of the scythe ladies. The rest of the treasure in these pathways is worthless if this is your 4th dungeon.

It is worth noting that after beating both Hintertomb Dungeons and the first two Pthumeru dungeons, you will have access to Tomb Mold (1) and Ritual Blood (1) via echoes and Coldblood Flowerbuds, Bloodshot Eyeballs, Living String (assuming you've killed the Brain of Mensis) and Pearl Slugs via the insight shop.

Edit: It's also worth noting that chalice dungeon materials are gated in a way that you pretty much have to do all of them to get into the last pthumerian one. You only really have a choice what you are going to do first when it comes to which depth 3 you want to do first and which depth 4 you want to do first.

For Central Pthumeru, which is harder, the bosses are:

Another watcher trio
Another giant
Rom again
Bloodletting Beast

The Weapons Of Bloodborne - Right Handed

I'm going to start this post by saying that scaling wise a ludwig's holy blade just does the most damage at high levels. Like....... that's it. You want pure raw damage you take that. The reason for using other stuff is the unique properties of that weapon.

Saw Cleaver - The 1st starting weapon. A quality weapon where both STR and SKL should hit 25 before passing that level, this benefits slightly more from strength and does 20% bonus damage to beasts in untransformed mode. Transforming it gives up this bonus in exchange for lengthening the blade, but these lengthened attacks take more stamina (usually one less attack total) and are a bit slower. My recommendation? Never transform it and use it vs beasts. You won't regret it. The scaling is..... okay? It's basically your anti-beast weapon early on in the game, when scaling doesn't matter as much as upgrades, and it's really good at doing this. Chaining R1's is also a really viable way to use the weapon, so it's very easy to use. Another cool fact is that you can transform mid attack for special attacks in the middle of your combos.

Hunter Axe - The 2nd starting weapon. This has a bit of reach on the saw cleaver untransformed at the cost of more stamina and slower attacks. It also has a really good overhead attack in the R2 or third R1, which is useful against certain ground type enemies that you WILL find annoying at certain parts of the game. However, the reason this weapon really shines is that transformed it extends and you can get a bunch of sweepoing attacks out of its combos. The first R1 and L2 are both sweepers that are really good at aoe, while the charged R2 is a double twirl that tends to double hit enemies and do a lot of damage (but consume ALL of your stamina bar). Meanwhile, the R2 is still a really really good overhead attack in this form, as well as the 3rd R1. The Hunter Axe benefits more strongly from STR than SKL (more than the cleaver), but like the cleaver you are best off raising both to 25 before going past that. This weapon is really good all game due to the aoe capability. I would recommend taking this or the saw cleaver as your first weapon, because it's a lot easier to transfer either of those into more powerful builds later in the game. It's worth noting that the overhead attack of this weapon is able to hit the Cleric Beast's face and thus set it up for Visceral attacks (useful for a No Bullets run). This does more damage vs most things in the mid to late game, while the cleaver is better for the early beast bosses. This weapon, transforming into the longer one in an R1, L1, R1 combo, is really good but the rest of its transform attacks kind of suck in combos.

Threaded Cane - The 3rd starting weapon, this is a pure skill weapon that gains a lot more from getting skill to 50 than it does from putting any points into Strength. Using much less stamina than the other two, it also has the least reach of any of the starting weapons untransformed but can attack a lot more often to make up for it. The R2 is also a thrusting attack with the cane, which can be really good vs some things like bloodsuckers. Transformed, we get an aoe whip that ..... probably uses the least stamina of any good aoe weapon. The reason this weapon is really good though is that due to its fast low stamina AOE attacks it is probably the best weapon to put fire or bolt paper on for most of the game. I would not recommend taking this? just because it doesn't have the same blunt impact of the other two and will end up doing less damage for a lot of the early game, which is noticeable when you start to put shards into it. Finally, this weapon also has really good attacks if you transform it during combos. ... Actually finally the cane has 20% bonus damage vs kin while the whip has 20% versus beasts.

That all being said, it's really easy to use multiple of these early in the game, since they can be bought from the shop cheap before beating the 2nd boss. Because of this, I recommend experimenting.

Saw Spear - You can buy this really early, and it's basically slightly better at skill than strength and a counterpart to the saw cleaver that way. While it has some good thrusting attacks, and transformed it does 20% bonus damage to beasts, this weapon is basically outclassed by the saw cleaver and rifle spear.

Rifle Spear - Probably the most direct reach of any weapon in this game, this quality weapon has some really good thrusting attacks. It's also possible to transform it so that your normal gun is replaced by this weapon's shotgun blast, which does benefit from any upgrades you put into this thing. This is a really good single target weapon against things like snake parasites where the moveset will keep you safe.

Kirkhammer - A STRENGTH weapon through and through, untransformed this is just.... well a sword. It's a really nice sword, and to be honest its nice to get to use a sword for once. It's also notable that for a strength weapon, this thing untransformed matches the threaded cane for stamina use and speed. Transformed, we trade speedy attacks for a MASSIVE hammer. Both R attacks are an overhead slam, while a single L2 is a really good sweeping attack. Be warned, this is slow attacks and chews through your stamina like candy. But for a pure strength weapon this is a really good damage dealer. Hammering L1 in the middle of R1 combos also leads to some of the weirdest and more entertaining combination attacks I've seen in this game, swinging the hammer head and sword about in comobs while attaching or detaching them.

Stake Driver - short range and a lot of thrusting attacks. Saw Cleaver like stamina usage. And purely unique in that it's the only weapon without a transform mode. Instead, L1 primes the spear for your special charged R2 attack which...... is probably the best stealth charged R2 in the game. That being said, this weapon isn't consistently good enough to be used seriously for anything other than said stealthed R2's, meaning you want to use this as a secondary support weaon if you are going to use it. Btw..... the charged R2 basically fires off sparks as the springblade rams your stake forward faster than anything should by rights be driven into anything. It's probably the most viscerally satisfying attack in the game with its own mechanical sound effects to boot. The same can be done without charging it but..... that attack isn't as cool.

Tonitrus - Um....... it's a mace. And you swing it. Nothing more fancy to be said for the untransformed version, which is basically just something you swing like you have only got Saw Cleaver R1's to use. Um...... L1 temporarily electrifies the blade, but this wears off really fast and must be reapplied after like 5-8 seconds. That being said, it's a natural arcane weapon so if you want to do an arcane build this is an option. That also being said, it's one of the **** early game weapons to actually try to get to due to being in the hardest area pre-Forbidden Woods, so go after it with caution. Late game there are better options for arcane weapons, but if something is particularly weak to bolt this can sometimes be a nice choice still.

Reiterpallasch - Basically the rapier of this game, this is a heavy skill weapon and untransformed it's that sword you thrust straight forward like you are in a fencing match. The R2 is also a nice mini sweeper. The transform mode...... just turns your R1 into a gun. Like a pistol gun. Um....... this, like the rifle spear's gun, is only useful if you really want to use the natural upgrades you've invested into this weaopn (say you got it to +10 for example) over what your left handed weapon has been upgraded to.

Logarius Wheel - Oh heavens, this thing is weird. It's um........ a big wooden wheel you smash things with. It's got a nice sweeper in the R2, and being honest the R1's probably swing the fastest of any of the pure heavy strength weapons (and it scales A LOT AND I MEAN A LOT with strength). That being said, I would personally use this in a arcane build? because the transformed mode makes it due arcane damage while the wheel spins. Your attacks are slower but you do more damage.

Blade of Mercy - Untransformed this is a decent sword but absolutely nothing special. Transformed though, you are dual weilding daggers meaning that your R2 and L2 combos use them to some really neat effect (at the cost of your gun). That being said, I don't really like this weapon (apparently it has natural arcane but I don't know what visual effect says that) because I can't figure out a way to swing the left weapon by itself in a combo, ruining all the fun of dual wielding. You would really use this for the transformed L2, which is a damaging attack that also does a backstep (albeit not an invincible one).

Chikage - untransformed it's nothing special and nothing worth recommending, since it's basically just another sword. Um......... transformed this weapon is solely responsible for the bloodtinge build, since it scales with bloodtinge only in that form (but your health constantlly goes down by a bit each second). This is one of the few weapons in the game that can claim to be unique and broken, and it's really good in a skill and bloodtinge build. It's also....... basically this is why bloodtinge is a viable stat and not just a joke.

Ludwig's Holy Blade - a sword and a greatsword, anyone who has played previous souls games immediately knows this weapons moveset by heart. It's nothign special when it comes to attacking, and early on you would not use this just because it doesn't have as much versatility (although against a few bosses any heavy overhead attack can stun them under certain situations; especially Amygdala). <- This weapon really shines because of one thing, which makes it automatically the best weapon in the game. SCALING. At B/B for STR/SKILL, this weapon at 50 Strength and 50 Skill has the most damage of any weapon and thus is automatically the best weapon for high level characters. It also..... basically it gets an A rating in arcane at +10, making it most likely the best arcane weapon in the game as well if you slot a gem in there for an elemental effect such as a fire gem. If you plan to get to level 150+, this is your damage dealer.

Beast Claw - Just freaking bizarre. Bad damage, scaling, and moveset compared to other weapons, this weapon has got one major thing going for it. Transformed you can build up your beast gauge without needing to use a beast blood pellet first, which can skyrocket your damage. And you keep that built up gauge when switching to another weapon, allowing for some crazy **** to go down.

Burial Blade - The final weapon you will get in the game (other than the Beast Claw), you have to die against the Moon Presence to be able to get this before NG+. The untransformed mode is ..... just another sword. You guessed it. Another freaking sword. I never realized how many weapons were swords until I had to go out and test them for this post. So much less variety than I originally thought. The transformed mode though is a scythe though, and between the AMAZING REACH and the AMAZING AOE I just love this weapon. Um....... this weapon has some of the most intense Skill Scaling in the game, ending up at an S in skill at +10. It also supposedly has natural arcane scaling somewhere but I don't notice it?

Not as fun, but left handed weapons:

Hunter Pistol, Evelynn, and Repeating Pistol -

Similar weapons, the Hunter Pistol is better than the Evelynn at lower bloodtinge levels while the Evelynn is better at higher bloodtinge levels. So if you are planning to invest in this stat (or not) will decide which of those is better. The Repeating Pistol does the most damage of the three but requires two bullets.

Hunter Blunderbuss - A more spread shot pattern, this weaon does "less damage" but makes up for it by having a bullet spread that at point blank can do more than the hunter pistol and makes it easier to stun things (but is slower to fire).

Ludwig's Rifle - Similar to the blunderbuss, this is an impact gun but has less damage in exchange for a much tighter spread one can aim semi-long distances with the monocular.

Torch and Hunter's Torch -

Decentish arcane weapons, the Hunter's Torch is strictly better. These light up areas you move through, which becomes extremely useful in some of the chalice dungeons, and they make a great secondary weapon to supplement whatever gun you are going to focus on.

Wooden Shield - The consensus is that this sucks, but it doesn't really? This soaks up half the damage it blocks in exchange for not blocking a large surface area, draining a lot of stamina per block, and frankly stunning you when your guard is broken. This makes it terrible in most situations, but there are a few one hit kills that this can help you survive and a few other situations this thing is really good for.

Flamesprayer and Rosmarinus -

They need really high arcane and use bullets constantly, but this is your flamethrower weaopn and your arcane misting damage weapon that can do lots of damage with a high arcane stat.

Cannon - In my opinion one of the worst designed and most annoying weapons in this game, it takes 12 (upped from 10 in a patch) bullets to fire but does some decent damage with a bloodtinge stat of 25. Um....... what happens with this is that it's really useful in lieue of a visceral on a stunned player/boss, and it can be used to stun certain bosses once or twice, but the actual damage outside of bone marrow ash + visceral swap is kind of crappy, especially when you get to much later in the game where it's just freaking hard to do anything with this due to bosses having some 20K health. Advertised as a boss killer, it's not that good at its main job and with high bloodtinge you would be better off just spamming L2 with an evelynn to get lots of safish damage over time.

Some random notes about Bloodborne.

Um...... I am now sad because people will not invade me. This has happened because I am too high of a level and the few people that have tried to invade me have learned not to after a few attempts. :(

The defiled chalices...... very hard. I have 750 health and 50 STR/SKL, and the first boss of 3 took 23 tries. Oh, it was so fun when I finally got it though.

And........ new game plus is not as bad as I thought it was going to be? Turns out that the nightmare lecture hall farming spot in NG+ is faster and easier than the pigs in NG for more souls.

Review of All Chalice Dungeons So far:

Pthumeru - About the same difficulty as Amelia

Central Pthumeru and Hintertomb - About Right for the main game about Rom area. Hintertomb likes to put worthless loot in the middle of poison muck to kill any urge you have to explore.

Lower Pthumeru, Lower Hintertomb, Ailing Loran - About right for end game difficulty, Ailing Loran is theoretically harder (and is in the actual dungeon layout since it's a depth 4) but Lower Pthumeru has a much much much much harder final boss.

And the 3 I am on right now....

Itz Gravestone - Depth 5. Bloodsuckers. You have been warned.
Lower Loran - Depth 5. Poison. You have been warned.

Cursed Pthumerian Defilement - oh my god I am about to rage quit and give up on this game's plat. It's a depth 4 chalice where everything 1 or 2 shots you (the bosses just flat out one shot you) because you have half health in this dungeon. With 50 VIT, 50 STR, and 50 SKILL I am just stuck at the 2nd boss right now because it takes some 60 hits to kill it and I die in one.

I picked up Rogue Legacy via a sale on the Humble Store and just played a few hours of it. I think I'm mostly of the same opinion about the dice-rolls as you, mjack. I often had runs ended with less than 50 gold because I would get stupid hard rooms thrown at me before I had an inkling of how to handle them.

I'm not so sure I actually enjoy the game, though. For one, I'm the kind who enjoys challenge but not so much difficulty, and for two, the stupid attacking mechanics get me killed more often than the enemies themselves.

The attacking mechanics themselves aren't so much of a problem (at least until NG++ when you can no longer stun enemies). The game just expects a certain amount of grind out of you statwise. It's really really bad for the first 10 levels or so and then you become able to start clearing larger and larger areas (resulting in Jack beating the castle by accident a couple of times).

My two main problems with the games are:

1) The enemies just become stupidly harder each NG+ cycle while you stop seeing any reasonable level of progression to try and match them once you can only get stats from the castle itself. In addition, the enemies stop becoming stunnable without grace runes on ng++ and further, making it kind of ....... well not fair or fun in my opinion. At NG+++++ I just got tired of the whole thing.

If it makes you feel better though I took like 100+ deaths on the first run through the castle and 10 or less on all the ones after that.

2) The level 300 versions of the bosses you get from collecting their special tokens are just..... well not that fun or fair. It's basically a challenge added for the most diehard of fans which I cannot be bothered to put up with.

I played another hour or two today and, honestly, I find my biggest problem with it is that, like you say, it's more about acquiring skills/armor/etc. than about skill. My favorite rogue-like games are ones that give you minimal upgrades and simply expect you to learn the system in order to properly progress. I daresay Vagante was better in this regard than Rogue Legacy.

I can see how some parts of Rogue Legacy would appeal to other players (most notably that it doesn't feel quite as dependent on the luck of room creation, and having three choices in heirs lessens that blow a bit), but I just don't feel properly rewarded for playing it. I'm assuming that my level is the number of heirs I've played, which means I'm only on my 24th or so generation, but I'm already getting tired of it. All it really is, is "kill enemies > get gold > hope you get enough gold before you die to upgrade > repeat". It's not like I'm given an exit to go and find or rescue a princess or anything, and already I feel like I've made too many runs to have only defeated one boss once (and that was after several tries using the architect).

Like you said, they mastered the art of making you feel "just one more run", but at the same time I'm not really enjoying it because I don't feel like I'm progressing.

Your level is how many upgrades you've bought in town. The cost of everything upgradewise in town goes up by about 10 gold per level (or more?). Runes work on a separate but similar system.

There is a lot more skill to it than that, but I'm having a bit of trouble remembering because it's been so long. If you want, I could try to give you some tips after replaying it a bit. The only things I'm missing are 3 of the level 300 bosses, <15 death completion on a new save file, and "mocking the traitor" so I swear I'm good at it. It really becomes more of a bullet hell experience than anything else once you learn to play, but there's a lot to it before that that feels really nasty.

Turns out I am only on NG + 3. Bummer.

Tips on upgrades. First things first, the smithy, enchantress, and architect are highest priorities. These will be responsible for A LOT of your stats and buying anything good from any of them is a big deal.

After this, you want to focus on unlocking the Barbarian. This and the knight are the two best classes for most of your early playthrough. The knight does more damage and has an invulnerability spell, while the barbarian has a lot more health.

After that, you want to put as many points as you can into health up and damage up as you can to make your character more powerful. You also want to buy the upgraded version of the knight and the barbarian when possible. Equip Up is something you want to invest in as you have the need, and it becomes very useful to put lots of points into over time. You will end up maxing out all 3 of these if you stick with the game. Trust me.

Now that's we've got those basic tips down, here is what you want to AVOID doing. You want to avoid purchasing things you won't need, because it makes all upgrades more expensive and in some cases you will unlock classes you won't want to use for a while. So what other upgrades should we head for?

Well in the bottom right is Gold Gain Up. You definitely want to buy this, as it will make a huge difference on your MAX OBTAINED during runs, letting you get more expensive upgrades in one go. In the top right is "randomize children", which lets you reroll your 3 heirs for 3 new ones (don't ask me about the moral ramifications of this). We also have the spell thief/sword which is one of the best "boss killer" classes in the game you might want to rush for. You have to get lucky with a spell on them, but a spellsword with the giant sword spell is one of the best boss attempt guys in the game. The left side of the screen is more simple. Slightly above and to the left of equip up is armor up, which we are going to want to be the 4th skill we max, so you want to unlock that but most of the rest of it can wait.

Let us now examine equipment. Higher level equipment (farther to the right) is obtained in lower area, with column 4 being from the Dungeon and the final two in column 5 being from NG+ treasure rooms. What do we want to focus in?

Well you want to start with the squire set. The set directly below it is a direct upgrade. The set below that is not per se but you have vampirism on it, which is very useful to have if you know what you are doing.

As far as swords go, Squire < Knight < Silver < Ranger < Sky < Imperial < Dragon < Royal

The guardian sword in row 3 column 1 is unique in that it gives you armor.

The Slayer Sword in row 2 column 5 is unique in that it is the "crit chance" sword which you use on the Knave classes in NG+ for some of the higher damage amounts possible, getting crit chance to amazingly high stat values.

The bottom row all have a "gimmick" where they are worse than some of the other options at that weight but the additional effects make up for it. The que de grace is the dark sword in the bottom right, which has +1 Vamp, Siphon, and Air Dash. The other 4 from left to right are vamp, Gold Bonus, Damage Return, and Siphon.

Most of the other equipment slots generally follow these same rules. The weird exception is the Holy Limbs, which are just downright better than the Royal Limbs. As equipment gets heavier though it costs more equip weight to equip it, which is why that stat is useful. Most of your stats actually comes from this stuff making equip weight an important stat.

Swords are for Damage, Helmets are for Health and Mana, Chests are for Armor, Limbs are for Mana and Magic, and the cape is for bonus effects without fear of suffering in another stat. My level 412 character is wearing the Royal Sword, Dark Helm, Royal Chest, Holy Limbs, and Guardian Cape as of this moment in time. That may change when I get the last 8 or so points in equip up.

You buy all of this stuff from the smithy after finding the blueprints in the castle, and it is worth farming every single blueprint you can from an area before beating the boss (as well as gold). This is really a game about getting good about clearing the castle. If you cannot clear every room in the castle before a boss, you aren't ready for the boss. So for the dungeon this would mean clearing the entire castle before taking on the dungeon boss (which doesn't hold true because he is stupidly easy compared to his area).

The enchantress is the rune smith, and I most definitely don't have everything from her. You unlock runes from various challenge rooms and chests in the castle, and once you have unlocked the ability to purchase them all you will start to get bonus stats from those challenge rooms instead, same as beating a boss. This is how you would slowly farm stats after maxing your level for very end game (which never stops getting harder). I won't say much here, except that "Grace" runes make the castle easier and on NG + 3 I seem to have 4 equipped along with one sprint rune. Runes get more expensive the more you buy and each is very very important, so I recommend buying a couple of sprint runes, a couple of jump runes, and all the grace runes before investing in anything else.

Finally..... the architect. In exchange for 40% (it may change depending on upgrades but that is what it is for me) of your earnings, you will be traveling through the exact same castle (with all warp rooms already unlocked) for your next run.

As far as the castle goes, on my first (and probably only attempt right now) attemp since January I was able to clear the town and the forest before dying in the tower. With the 150% bonus gold from ng+3 and 50% bonus gold from upgrades i am at 300% bonus gold, earning me 53K gold on that run. I was then easily able to upgrade 9 levels in equip up.

Now this is where I don't understand the game some. So uh...... this meant I was EXACTLY ABLE to equip the heaviest armor set. And um..... I am only at 47 Equip Up. What the **** are those last 3 points for? <- There are lots of things like this (including certain rooms and NG+4 and further) where I feel the developers of the game were just as lazy as **** because they decided they could get away with it. I mean Reviewers aren't going to get to NG+3 before reviewing the game are they?

For exploring the castle...... once you have enough health and attack to start 2 shotting everything in your area and fully clearing it, you'll start to skyrocket your progress and the game will be a lot of fun. The only things I consider absolutely necessary are +1 Air Dash and +1 Jump, which are two movement abiliteis you MUST get to be able to get out of certain situations. Past that the game is all skill, and it's really grindy your first time through because they don't exactly have a fun learning environement here do they? You will beat NG+ before truly having the skill to do some of the harder things. The best tips I can say are that the enemies are really easy once you have their attack patterns memorized (especially on NG where it's semi-trivial 50 or so deaths in), so I would work more on exploring the castle and doing this then focusing on the bosses. The bosses will come with time and stressing too much about death in this game gets depressing. It may seem like it's unrealistic, but more than 2/3 of people really only take 100 deaths to beat NG.

For NG+2 and further, the game gets unfair without Grace Runes (2 on +2 and 4 on +3) with the game just sheer being unfair on NG+4, which if i remember correctly is why I froze and decided to farm some stats in the castle before continuing. There really isn't a reason to go farther than NG+3 until you've gotten EVERY TROPHY except for the psn exclusive one (I hate you Thanaptophobia; I just want you to know I mean that).

And um....... does this rambling help any? I don't think I'm selling it well but I'm really just trying to offer encouragement here? Don't give up too soon because it becomes really really fun?

Man I forgot that that DLC was even a thing. Gamers these days I tell ya. Back in my day you had to work for you grainy 16-bit violence. There weren't no input guides either - no tutorial modes or even move lists in the book. You had to buy special cheat books or game guides - from actual brick-and-mortar buildings no less - if you even wanted a chance at causing a fatality. Then you had to enter 13 button combination of buttons with exact precision or you'd just slap the staggered guy and it would all be over.

You sound like Cranky Kong. :P

@ mjack:
Like you say, they don't provide a good learning environment, but I am getting slightly better at the game. My favorite classes to get are Archmage, Hokage, or Paladin -- and it's at this point that I also have to agree with you that the references are just a little too in-your-face to be funny. At least in Guacamelee all the references were in the background.

Oh, and I did a count before playing another dozen or so generations, and I should be around generation 50-60 now. I also noticed that apparently you only need to beat a boss once? Because the symbol for big-eye-boss has been lit up on the golden door for every run now.
