hey Welder just wanted to make sure you saw this thread. also why do we have it set so you have to post before you can add a signature anyway? I guess it stops new people from like setting their sig to something obscene and posting everywhere, but they can just post that obscene thing everywhere anyway so what do we really gain?

:duel:

I imagine it has to do with spambots?

but what can spambots put in their sig that they can't just put in posts?

Maybe it has to do with some sort of memory optimization?

The site has 1478 members. Only 1117 members have ever posted. The rest of the group don't even rank as a "Member" as far as the database is conncerned? so maybe it has something to do with that?

I don't think it's really a big deal either way. All you have to do is post once and then make a sig. Jack has done this on multiple accounts and it's not a giant problem.

sure, once you know that that's the requirement. but Thunder is far from the first person to come in and go digging around in the UCP for a place to edit their signature and be confused when they come up empty. heck, I had the same problem when I first joined.

I agree it's basically a non-issue and we should let 0 post people make sigs.

On a side note, I tried to make a new account to see what you were talking about. The site will not send me the activation email, meaning I can't access said account. Oh well. I guess Carl will never see the light of day. Still....... the website did not send me an activation email so reporting that here too.

I don't remember why we set things up that way -- there's a vague recollection that it was a default setting -- but I agree that it causes confusion with new users (as we've seen! Sorry, MTG Thunder). That restriction has now been removed.

mjack, I see the email to Karl in both our server logs and in the re-mailer we use, and it shows as a successful delivery (no errors on sending it or anything).

Nope. Just a 15 minute delay.

No seriously. From the time I tried to make a new account to the time I finally got the email. 15 minutes. I don't think there's anything you can do about that though.

NGA card renders use absolute paths for mana symbol images in card text, but relative paths for those in mana costs. Not a big deal to amend the URLs, but it seems weird. :)

I keep getting logged out somehow. Then sometimes when I load another page I'm logged back in.

The 'mark forums read' isn't working for me.

has the site been super slow all day for anyone else? it seems worse in Safari but Chrome and Firefox drag a lot too. I've done google tests so it's not on my end.

weird. now Chrome's working fine, but Safari isn't, which implies it's something on my end, but it's not happening on other sites which implies it's something on the site's end... I don't know enough about computers for this.

I haven't noticed any issues either.

NGA seems to hate Firefox, both on my Windows 8 rig and my Android 5.0 mobile. Things like the [-] button will collapse forums, but the [+] won't expand them again.

This is happening to me, too--I'd expect something like this to be a cookie issue, but clearing NGA's cookies didn't stop it from happening. While I was logged out after clearing cookies the forum was expanded, but when I logged back in it was collapsed again, implying that it's something on the forum's end.

In other news, I could probably have made a better choice of forums to collapse in order to test it.

Knowledge knows no bounds.

And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real.

I have the same issue. I had to use a different browser to expand my sections.
