I've been sitting on this mechanic for a while, but it seems like a good fit for Egypt set so here you go:

Reap (Each creature you sacrifice while casting this spell pays for or one mana of that creature's color.)

at least make the cost reduction as good as Convoke and make it pay for colored costs.

History, history, hmm sounds familiar, is that a thing? (And nope, only studied my country's history.)

Generally, K-12 schooling in the US gets you about as much detail on ancient Egypt as Stargate (And less than Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego?), with actual "history" kicking in mainly for Greece and Rome (Minor details of culture, a few effects), growing slowly more detailed as the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Enlightenment occur in Europe, and finally becoming sharp and defined as of around 1770 (antecedents of the Revolution), though exclusivley for events the US was involved in (Napoleon? Who's that? The Spanish-American War? Remember the Maine! To Hell with Spain!) and ending, essentially, in September 1945, since nobody ever gets around to covering much history after WWII, though you might get some details on the Cold War, Vietnam War, and Apollo Program if you're in a good high school history class and the teacher isn't running behind schedule.

I just happened to do a lot of units of archaeology in college, all of which was focused on either the Near East (including Egypt) or on Egypt specifically. In fact, if I had gone another semester and taken a practical/lab class (one option for which was actually going on a dig in the summer), I could have graduated with a minor in archaeology. So I probably know a little more about Egypt and it's geographical/temporal neighbors than most people but a lot less than a real archaeologist.

I learned a pretty good amount of history in school. Probably more from documentaries on tv though.

Ah Amerocentrism strikes again. In BC history goes from prehistoric man through Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Medieval - Enlightenment Europe, Colonial times, Canada, world wars and then you probably never make it past that.

THEORETICALLY, World History (commonly taken in High school) does that, as well as covering other cultures even after the rise of european civilization. You might get some of it, but the oldest stuff is inevitably glossed over in a day or two of lecturing, maybe one week (of twenty) tops, since there's just so much to cover. For most people though, they don't even get that, I was in accelerated programs and actually had good history teachers (Honors World and AP European were good for what they did, though even AP American still didn't get to much past WWII). I know many persons who had far, far less from their courses.

What about the part with the ancient astronauts?

How about the set theme is an early (Egyptian) civilization causing disasters to kill off the huge beasts that regularly interfere with farming and/or try to dig up the bodies of the dead?

Or some other sort of Egyptians vs dinosaurs sort of thing.
