It's a suicide toolbox deck, the life gainers are minimal.
Still, between the mana and the perm effect
Vicious Hunger is secondary to
Dead Weight here, which had me choose
Rotfeaster Maggot at first. However, if you play
Suffer the Past already, pack the solution that also gives you life. One's enough and I actually tutored it once.
This isn't a (semi)revival deck, the Elixir doesn't get in the way of Digger & Rescue, because they're more of silver bullets I tutor when needed, depends on the CIP effect and mana I have.
Would not recommend swapping out
Vicious Hunger for
Dead Weight . If anything maybe with
Ulcerate.
[Semi was exaggerate, but there is a splash of retrieval going on. ]
One copy of those "silver bullet" cards reduces the likelihood of having an irrelevant/dead card in hand.
12 out of 13, that's pretty awesome!
Edit: Hi - some suggestions as this is what was asked for: maybe swipe out 3x
Viscera Dragger for some other spells, an
Undying Evil, removal, or something? My personal experience is that I usually end up cycling this card and waste a turn doing this. Rather use the 2 mana cost to cast something like a removal spell.
Tribute to Hunger, maybe keep one in hand, if any, and swipe the rest for some other removal type spells? The reason why I suggestion this, in my experience, is that a lot of decks start off with either
Wall of Omens or
Elvish Visionary which will block
Tribute to Hunger from getting to the key creature spells.
