Looks good, you are probably right on the extra red sources, I look forward to seeing it on the channel. I can tell you that cleansing has solved the issue of a resolved obelisk against us and also makes me more confident in only 1 angelic edict.

I have only played one game with it so far but the mana felt good, Cleansing is definitely castable.

Totally think the addition of the cleansings was the right move. (If I needed to repeat that..)

It's not like we didn't want them in here, we were just realistic. The old list had minor problems casting Baneslayer from time-to-time. Now we have Frontier Bivouac and Mystic Monastery, which is very important.

That is really quite interesting, I cut thunder #4 and visions #4 too. Both cards are good at scaling but just bad if drawn in multiples.

Although my mana needs are different in some ways, all three of us agree 11 is the correct number for white sources, and I am at 13 red sources, in between Hakeem's 14 and Monk's 12.

I am at 9 green and 5 black though, compared to 8G/3B for Hakeem and 8G/4B for Monk. I might try to cut back to 8/4.

My blue mana needs are somewhat different because of nullify and archaeomancer. I am at 17 blue sources and I still frequently grab an island via visions so that I can counter multiple spells per turn.

I have never been a big fan of Angelic Edict, and I wouldn't run it even before fitting cleansing into my deck. Nevertheless, I think it is an obvious candidate for a cut from Monkeem now that you have 2 cleansings. Both cards are expensive board removal that will usually tap you out. I don't think you need 3 cards devoted to that.

You could be right about angelic edict. I hadn't tested enough with cleansing to know. But edict is your only good answer to Kozilek in a control mirror.

Edict is definitely one of the first cuttable cards but it is hard removal, it hits enchantments, and the exile is often relevant. I've never been sad to see it.

@HenWen why play Archaeomancer in this deck now that Warden is in the pool? It's bigger, is easier on the blue mana if you want to grab Dissolve, and can get back your Obelisk if you have to Cleanse it.

I may actually try a Warden in place of the fourth Inspiration.

Monk - Kozilek is a one of threat and you are talking about a one of answer.
I run suffer partially to deal with this situation. I have a counter for Kozilek 95% of the time and simply exile him once he hits the GY, before he reshuffles.
You guys already have anger in your decklist. Anger is of marginal utility in the control mirror, so it should be pretty easy to hold on to it by the time your opponent can cast Kozi. Anger + ground assault achieves the same thing as Edict, and both cards are much better independently.

I do rarely lose a game because my opponent casts Kozi multiple times in quick succession, but I do not want a one of answer here.

Hakeem - Archaeomancer vs Warden is tricky. TBH the difference is not that huge, if you want to go for warden go ahead. The UU mana cost is rarely an issue for me because I run 17 blue sources. If warden were 3/4 and could survive anger I would probably run it.

The reason is 100% due to mana cost. The difference between 4 and 5 mana may not be so steep, but once you add another spell you want to cast in the same turn it can really add up.
Here is the "total cost" of the main spells I use Archaeomancer to recur:
5 mana: shock
6 mana: nullify, ground assault
7 mana: dissolve, anger, hardcast thunder
...
10 mana: planar cleansing

Warden adds 1 mana to total cost. This is actually a big deal, because it turns all the 7 mana plays into 8 mana plays. And my deck already has a lot of stuff I do at 8 mana: for example, obelisk + nullify open, rhox + traumatic visions open. I tested Warden for a few games and, since I do not want to tap out to cast him, I found the larger body was not worth the mana cost.
Getting Obelisk back is some additional value, but if the game is so close that I can't protect my obelisk then I generally will want to recur dissolve or a board wipe.

Also this is for steam. A) I do not face a ton of aggro decks B) most opponents will have quality removal that can kill either a 1/2 or a 3/3.

Overall the difference between 'mancer and warden is pretty small. I won't say it is wrong to run warden, I just prefer having access to my spells at a lower mana cost.

Been trying to figure out the ultimate token-deck. I think there's probably more optimal options in pure Boros, Selesnya or even Gruul (and not to mention, mono-white fggotry), but I've been having alot of fun with this Jeskai-version with a splash of green. There's a lot of synergy between most of the cards, a decent amount of draw, and some fun tricks.
The Battledriver is probably the real MVP of this deck. Combo him with Triplicate, Mycoloth or Reprisal on a beefy Chasm Skulker for some good fun.
The mana is okay, but you can lose some tempo with all the tap-lands.

Aight, sorry for rehashing yet another exhausted archetype. :P I just have absolutely nothing better to do with my life than to play dotp and post stuff on forums.

If you didn't think there was enough RNG in this game already, I give you my take on Warp World.

I think you want enough red sources to go off with warp world, I think that is at least 14 if you count the ingots and meteorites

I actually disagree.... I'm not sure about this deck, but I think 3-4 is sufficient for mountains in this deck. That said, I have no idea why there are no tri or dual lands here.

Monk: You're probably right. I don't really know what I'm doing when I'm balancing lands making decks. :P

DJ: Because you usually end up getting a bunch of land after WW, which would preferably be untapped.

Re-edited this version of a surge deck, cut the Bear's Companion because it was too slow. Add Timewarp as another win con (hence the name). Warden of Eye is added for another way to get Surge back (or Time Warp). Kozilek was added for recycling because this deck has dead cards in the graveyard without him. Genisis Hydra is there as a way to get Surge faster.

Take a look at the Warden Surge deck I posted a few pages back.

The list started off as a Warstorm Surge + Bear's Companion deck, but slowly became less and less focused on them and more and more focused on Warden of the Eye and the combo it has with Surge + Cloudshift, and Packleader + Cloudshift.

Lets see if I can find the most recent version to link to you.

The deck was originally built around Bear's Companion + Warstorm Surge, with support from Cloudshift and Species Gorger.

The more and more I played it though the more and more it became obvious that the combos were where the real power in this deck was, so I went more in that direction, dropping Species Gorger, Bear's Companion, and some of the filler cards that were there to work with Gorger like Visionary.

Surge + Warden + Cloudshift is 3 damage to target creature or player for every :w: you have on the table, and can be done an infinite number of times as long as Warden doesn't eat removal or Cloudshift doesn't get countered. Warden + Packleader + Cloudshift is equally good, draw a card for every :w: you have on the table, again, infinitely unless Warden/Packleader get removed.

If you really wanted to work Bear's Companion back into the list it wouldn't be too difficult, and it is actually pretty good as a combo with Surge + Cloudshift. Cast Companion to get a 2/2 and a 4/4 and do 6 damage with Surge, then Cloudshift to get another 4/4 and do another 6 damage with Surge.

I ended up cutting Bear's Companion because they were somewhat slow outside of when we had Surge on the table. They ended up playing a more defensive role, which isn't what I wanted for the deck, so they got replaced by some more aggressive creatures.

-1 Cultivate
-1 Stormbreath Dragon
-1 Banefire

+3 Bear's Compaion

Is what I would do if I wanted to works Companion back into the list I just posted.
