By the way Niklor, given the various views in the last thread that I saw along with the actual game play I was able to experience, I am extremely confident in saying that JD is the only other person around that will willingly start something and go to lengths to talk about it. Everyone else is content on literally not caring about the town in so far as actually trying to contribute to get somewhere. They'd rather just lurk because.

We could always revive the classic lynch all lurkers strategy.

Then probably lose the game, but at least we'd be making a statement.

Oh I fully plan on pursuing that strategy since the last game was filled with lurking scum. For now though, I'm focused on you and your scummy way of fishing.

Wanting to do a policy lynch to make a statement is something to be considered a tad closer to deadline. Attacking someone for trying to scumhunt and make this game actually a game just because he think we need to hold a policy lynch is just really weak.

KoD said he intended to lynch all lurkers after pursuing you. I'd be fine if he was either pro-LaL or anti-LaL, but making an exception to chase after someone who asked if he was a mime in a game where the characteristics of all power roles are known strikes me as inane.

I was pointing out the inconsistency of saying you plan to LaL and then voting for someone who is actively contributing. If you want to use LaL to scare people into activity, you do it early. You don't delay it for the sake of a weak D1 case.

LaL doesn't really work except as a policy lynch. If we just threaten to lynch someone for lurking, they can just infrequently post to keep from lurking, while still largely remaining uncontributory. A policy lynch is more about the fact we are going to play the game, but end up choosing to enact a policy lynch in order to encourage people to actually sign up with the intent to play in future.

So, for example, we can vote for you for now, but if deadline approaches and a good chunk of the town is lurking still, we can switch over to a lurker not because we find him particularly scummy, but because we want to associate the idea that lurking is a **** thing to do.

Debatable at best Rubik. LAL can be used at any time of day. Why? Because you threaten a lurker, someone who is paying attention to the game, with death. If they're mafia, they'll contribute more or die. Saying I plan to follow LAL doesn't mean I have to adhere to it right here and now. Especially since there is only one scum at this moment in time. Who is to say that that one scum isn't one of the active people talking right now? LAL would lead to the lynch of town then. Just for emphasis, the last game you were in had how many lurky town? A lot.

Point is, you don't dictate when or how a person follows/adheres to the policy for a lynch. All you did was throw mud and instigate the issue at hand with how you came off. "Pointing out the inconsistency" indeed.

I'd personally rather get the lurkers to post half-heartedly than to randomly kill one of them at the end of the day without actively pressuring them.

The last game we played in had 3 players who lurked heavily through d1 (PP, Scarlet, Garren). Both scum survived the entire game.

Letting someone get away with doing nothing lets scum survive among the lurkers. I'd rather deal with active scum than lurking scum.
