Wasteland should probably be alt-banned if SM and GQ are

It gives incentive to play with basics, so my Daze-Chronomaton-Island deck isn't strictly worse than Daze-Cenn's Tactician-Tundra

So here's my question after seeing all the bans: Is inquisition of Kozilek even relevant now that Encroach is banned? With Encroach banned, dual storage land becomes a much more potent deck. When Encroach was a possibility, it seemed like the two created decent tension: Do I play basics and become vulnerable to IoK, or non-basics and be vulnerable to Encroach?

Now it just seems like you pick Despise or countermagic (assuming you want the "control" deck) and don't look back...

I've got two competitive new decks that are both really fun...but they're both vulnerable to different meta compositions...which to play?

I think thats pretty good advice this round..my idea of what the strongest decks are all 6-0 two of the decks and 0-6 the other two.

That depends. Do you still consider Lion's Eye Diamond/Gibbering Descent/Quicksand a deck? Because I do. That deck is WAY better if people are going for storage lands. Inquisition at least earns a split.

Tier two breaks out the Bridge Variants and Control decks (including Scepter)

Edit: So IoK actually seems pretty solid after thinking a bit, not sure if its better than Despise though...depends on how many people play storage dual threat (or ignore counters and dual storage threat). Also forgot to add Lands.dec in there as tier 1.5

Mentor almost always wins with Ulamog because it blows up Bridge.

Storage Lands know how to satisfy your needs...heck, you can even blow up your OWN bridge if you were so inclined...but that would be weird and inefficient.

Has anyone ever used Pulse of the Dross? Cause Lotus Memnite Pulse of the Dross seems just as good as blackmail or whatever except not banned.

That's pretty much equivalent to Coercion, which I think I've seen once or twice in the past.

Blackmail has two bonuses: it can be played in non-Lotus rounds, and it can be played with The Rack, which is a much better threat than Memnite if your deck supports it.

Oh yeah...actual coercion as well as obscure cards like Pulse of the Dross.

True, the rack is good. That makes sense.

I think the better version of dross.dec is Black Lotus / Abandon Hope / Nether Spirit. Abandon Hope is legal because the deck is incapable of casting it for more than X=1. The threat the deck lands is a recurring 2/2 rather than a one-time 1/1. And in an absolute pinch (read: an opposing Leyline of Sanctity, making casting Abandon Hope impossible), you could actually hardcast the Spirit.
