Because we don't have one of these and I'm trying to let the old thread die completely. For those of you who don't now what this is, FNAF is a horror series with 3 entries (the 4th is coming out next Halloween) where you end up trapped in X location with Y animatronic(s) trying to kill you. Each has different gameplay elements to it, and this is because he's trying to surprise veterans of the series each game.

If you like monotony punctuated by jump scares, you should just stare at a toaster. It's basically the same thing, except you get toast at the end.

:( So you've played the first game?

Have you played the third? It's different.

Edit: Cato makes a good point though.

FNAF 1 had a simple strategy that once learned basically devolved the game into how lucky you were going to get with certain random elements. Combined with the actual AI behavior being easy to predict when it comes to WHEN they were going to jump out at you (Bunny staring at you from the doorway is actually scarier), the game was really really fun....... until you knew how to play it. And then it got boring and monotonous. Until you handed it to your friend with a phobia of puppets.

FNAF 2, which did a lot to fix this formula, managed to become highly unpredictable when it came to some of its jump scares. The issue though is that at higher difficulties, and this is much more obvious then it was on FNAF 1, there was one strategy to follow basically and if you didn't do so well either you were going to realize that strategy eventually or you weren't going to beat the game. :( Again, it got monotonous because there wasn't much skill involved so much as fast reflexes. But it was scarier.

I haven't played it yet, which is why I'm asking for opinions on it, but FNAF 3 has supposedly fixed this. From what I know of it, you now have to actually make informed decisions to make it past any night but the first, and he's added hallucinatory elements to the game to make it completely unpredictable. Thus, the older complaints aren't as valid. That being said, has anyone on here actually played it and want to give an opinion?

I haven't played any of the games, I just like toast. Any good points you think I made are a rorschach projection of your own subconscious upon my meaningless drivel. I am merely a catalyst for your own enlightenment.

So you gave a negative opinion on something you know nothing about in an effort to say bad things about a game you haven't played?

Good to know.

I don't consider these things games, but a stain on humanity.

I made a joke about toast, and you told me I made good points.

Good to know.

Well I consider the same thing about anything with "simulator" or "faster than light" in the name so I guess we don't agree?

I find it interesting that FNAF basically created a new subgenre of horror games. I can forgive it of its faults for being so novel. It will be interesting to see how the genre develops.

I would say all 3 of them are worth it. You get 5 hours out of the first, BEFORE you start handing it to other people and having fun with that. You get like 10 hours out of the second unless you are going to do the harder challenges...... then it's more. Much more. I haven't played the 3rd, but I plan to this upcoming weekend and I'm sure I'll have fun with it.

For $8 per game, that's not the most value you are ever going to get out of steam, but it's enjoyable enough that I think I got my money's worth. Especially if you are someone like me where atmospheric content can't scare you anymore but making you jump can still get the adrenaline going.

I haven't been able to play any of them due to my gremlin blood, but they seem cool in theory. I mean, jump scares are dumb, and they're stupid and they're dumb and they're stupid, but it seems like the game is more about building atmosphere leading up to the jump scare rather than the scare itself, see Game Theory's videos on the games.

Madoka, Trigun, and Cowboy Bebop are better off the top of my head.

Sure, I'll just cut the bullets in half with my katana. They did it in Black Lagoon, and that show is all about hard science.
