when I go P1-1 Icefall regent, into P2-1 Icefall Regent, into P3-1Archfiend of Depravity, You think how can i lose?

simple, cause dash doesn't care about the rare's i pulled, nor the Defeat, or Ojutai's breath and will of the naga really. or even my sidisi faithful, and aven surveyor. All basically vanilla

now i heard the deck existed and i've played plenty of people MB the impact tremors and have NEVER lost to them. so when i seen his tremors , i thought free win. I'll play a game around all his dash creatures getting stuck in his hand, forcing him to invest all this mana each turn meanwhile i advance my board and get the win.
he had the cheapest dashers, like Beserker, scout, even mardu shadowspear. So when i played a threat, he wild slash, draconic roar, bathe , foul tongued , defeat , flatten , twin bolt my guy and still able to dash in.

I was pretty tilted at the lost. with time to reflect I must say i'm actually impressed that his deck of fodder and limited filler 23rd card in draft deck. was built so well to negate all the what i thought was good deck building i was doing. I wasn't able to do any tempo plays . my tempo cards were dead. as were any sorcery speed removal.

anyone else?

This format has me pretty tilted right now. I may try and hold back from playing until tempest masters can come in.

Though I feel the problem is deeper. It seems in the past year I've gone from somewhat slightly respectable as a player to down right trash. It feels you can hand me the most well tuned deck, take a pile of unplayables for yourself, line up against me and bash my brains in.

I thought the deck of synergistic Commons winning against Broken_Rares.dec was a sign of a good format, not of a bad one

This times 1000. Magic shouldn't be a scratch off ticket game. I'll take 22/23 cards with synergy over 3 bombs and 5-7 fringe cards in a 40 card deck.

I played against a tremors deck yesterday for the first time. It sucked really bad, I 2-0'd him. But I applaud the guy for testing it out.

I tried to make a discard deck on MTGO Saturday night and went 1-1 in an 8-4. It was fun to play with but it also sucked.

You know you are in trouble when you are waiting for your next card and thinking "come on, just give me one more mind rot!"

I haven't played this format much and I'm really bad at it, but it seems fun so far and I'm happy the commons aren't ass. It isn't as great as triple Khans was, but that's a high standard, and Dragons replacing Khans packs didn't make things worse nearly as much as Fate Reforged replacing a Khans pack did.

The ways you can lose to commons in this format are just so many. Which is excellent. And removal-with-just-any-bears is a very solid deck in this format. I can't remember offhand the last time it was possible to draft ten good to excellent removal spells in a format. That little Imp will kill a lot of people.

People want their sweet broken Rares to actually increase their chance of winning, making commons better than Rares makes for a lot of bad feels.

Also, I'm not a fan of 9 removal spells.dek being so powerful. I liked the decrease in removal

Still the format can be fun, I just wish green wasn't so underpowered, I want to draft Stampeding Elkherd every time I see it.

Elk Herd is considered strong game, and it's not hard balancing the off color for pack 3, you can usually have plenty of Green/ X playables before P3, then get your Sandblast/Heelcutters/Reach/Lotus path's and the occasion Hunt the weak and if you can snag a couple Whisperer of the wilds it makes Pilgrim of fires strong play

little FYI, Pilgram of Fires is the same mech on Witness of the Ages

Custodian of the Trove is what Pilgrim of the Fires became in the Dragons timeline. (Witness of the Ages was in the Khans timeline.)

It's not like you don't have plenty of ridiculous Rares in the Set. The third pack is basically just them and shaft :P

I only draft U/B control at all times.

U/B is good. I'm happy.

Format is fine. I've lost over half of my drafts I've done of it, but format is fine.

My issue is more that the colors have glaring issues that can only be solved by opening the right cards. I often struggle with getting enough game winning bombs for UB control, that being the big one for me.

I think red/black with heavy removal is one of the better decks in the format.

that is a very strong arguement, I've noticed in all my U/B builds, i'm having to MB a mindscour dragon, or Scion of Ugin as bomb win cons, sometimes 2x ojutai summons and a lotus path djinn will work. but i've never had the bomb for those color combo's you kinda have to go evasive flyers with your non-exploit creatures, while red has Sabertooth and efreet that punch hard at common.

Might that be because UB is overdrafted?

In some other color combos, you mostly go for them if you open a bomb, or a great uncommon. Maybe Pacifism, from a weak pack. Like jman said, looking just at commons and uncommons, some combinations are simply weak in Dragons. But many people will go for UB just on principle, because it's the best deck (?). That can leave the players that open UB bombs without a deck, and players that don't open them, with a weak deck that can't really win the game despite all the card advantage. What does that mean anyway, when you keep drawing Palace Familiars, and they keep dropping Glade Watchers and Elk Herds?

This is of course true for any color combo, but not many people force UW or GW. If the cards come, fine; if not, let's look at red or black instead. On the other hand, blue and especially black are deep, and it's sometimes hard to see you're being cut on both of them.

The idea of drafting a specific deck most of the time seems crazy to me.

I would not describe blue as deep in this set.

I've finally got a hang of this format. The Tremor deck, and the BR aggro deck in particular, seem best in my experience when you do just what Johnny said: MAKE IT CHEAP! If I'm not playing 16 lands max in my BR deck, I've done something wrong. I don't even like drafting 3-drops until I have to, and I love most of the 2-drops AND 1-drops. Tremor itself is a tricky card, and I don't like it unless I have a lot of ways to abuse it, but I've definitely ton 10+ damage with one.

any twitch stream watchers here? Yall see Trey Van Cleaved Impact tremors deck last nite, 3 MB copied of tremos, all the cheapest dash creates and a curve topout of 2 sabertooths, he had limited removal like a roast and maybe a tail slash. I was real interested in watching the out come, I thought he played well but went 0-2 and lost to lose calm both games, he was a little sour where he knew his opp mained a Lose calm and would be dead to it if he didn't leave an extra blocker back, when he was playing for the next turn magmatic chasm win
