I think you can bypass the Seismic Strike if there isn't a threat to deal with, might as well work on getting your 6 drops out. Worst case is you're going to draw more removal.

It's the Abzan lifegain deck that really worries me. I'm wondering how to sneak Skullcracks into this deck.

Where the heck is dh50?!

You could start with Volcanic Geyser IMO. That card has yet to really perform for me.

I put the two Angers back in and went to one Bolt. The main issue with the deck is card advantage.. and being about to 2 or 3 for 1 the opponent is a really big advantage.

I've playtested the changes I made to the Dragon deck above for an additional 20 games...and went 20-0. It's probably luck because I saw TONS of token and aggro decks, which this deck murders; I don't think it would fare too well vs. control. It did surprisingly well against a couple of life gain decks, despite this being a glorified burn deck. I'm pretty satisfied with it overall, although I'm still not 100% convinced that Anger of the Gods wouldn't be better served by 2 more Bolt of Keranos. But vs these token decks, it's obviously better, and apparently in the last two days people on steam don't know how to play anything else (although I also saw Hakeem's unearth deck twice which was cool, but this deck is an absolutely terrible matchup for it).

I'm not getting these kinds of results that u did so maybe I shouldn't second guess the angers and put them back in. I still am not running into situations where anger is my out. By the time the opponent has a board that is asking to be angered, I've already lost.

The bolts might stem the bloodflow I'm getting from mana problems. I gladly throw stormbreath and pyromancers on the bottom when I'm digging for land holding onto inferno titan and two charmbrekkers. This happens all the time

There's only 5 of them and they're all game winners. The worst bomb in the deck is Stormbreath. Shivan Dragon wins 40% of my games.. a resolved Charmbreaker in THIS deck is absolutely nuts.. Titan is Titan. The firebreathing is what makes Shivan and Titan so good in mono red.

is burning inquiry any useful? i always wanted to go and test the card but that discard 3 random cards is just stupid to me... i mean if it were "draw 3 cards and discard 2 random" i'd say hell yeah why not? but i guess unless you have 3 lands in hand there is no real reason to even think about it. prove me wrong?

Well then play more land. I haven't looked at the list, but I would play 25 minimum in a deck with no draw and five six-drops. Depending on the 4/5 slots, I would even think about playing 26.

I bet Bjorn could get an extreme fever against your deck.

There is already 26 land. You should check that list out 'Keem.. its really powerful, and it plays a few cards that you don't get to use often like Volcanic Geyser, Seismic Strike (which is freakin' awesome), Cunning Sparkmage, Charmbreaker Devils, Galvanic Juggernaut and Shivan Dragon.

The coolest thing about the deck is that everything in the deck is a serious threat that must be answered (except maybe Sparkmage) or a burn/kill spell. The deck represents so much damage potential its insane. If it had draw, it would be one of the best decks in the game.

Go tired of getting my a$$ handed to me, while testing my UW tempo (Jank). So I built this to win a few games and feel better about myself... lol.

Hall of Defiance

A deck for Magic 2015.

60 Cards (22 :creature: , 14 :instant: , 24 :land:)

Color 34 cards
■■■
Coordinated Assault
■■■■
Goblin Bushwhacker1/1
■■■■
Kiln Fiend1/2
■■■■
Krenko's Command
■■■
Young Pyromancer2/1
■■
Goblin Rabblemaster2/2
■■■■
Seismic Strike
■■
Ogre Battledriver3/3
■■■
Paragon of Fierce Defiance2/2
Stormbreath Dragon4/4
■■
Wrecking Ogre3/3
Inferno Titan6/6
Banefire
Colorless26 cards
■■
Hall of Triumph
24
Mountain

This is basically RDW, but with a more mid-range feel. It's still fully capable of killing super fast, but if it doesn't manage to do so, it still has a good chance to survive. It does so by flooding the board early (RDW Style), and then boosting all of the creatures using Paragons, and Halls - instead of instants. Coordinated Assault is basically removal (although it can kill with Kiln Fiend), Wrecking Ogres are in primarily for their bloodrush ability.

-1 Hellkite
-2 Volcanic Geyser

+3 Bolt of Keranos

If he won't submit it for the new thread.. I will bc it's F'n great.

Looks fun. And I agree with the changes. I hope he submits it too. Love the fact he uses Shivans. I remember playing with those 20+ years ago, and I've yet to use them in a deck.

I have been playing DH50's big red deck and it is pretty awesome. Good control and tends to close out games pretty fast.

He made some excellent card choices. Galvanic Juggernaut does not need any janky combo cards to work - just a ton of red removal. The creatures at the bottom of the curve are excellent at getting damage through so that you can finish them off quickly.

Here are my thoughts/suggestions:
Bolt of Keranos is sorcery speed and does 3 damage. Galvanic Arc is also sorcery speed and does 3 damage - but it also permanently gives one creature first strike. This is super relevant for a number of creatures - Rabblemaster can easily get pumped up to 5/2, Shivan Dragon can go past any removal. Moreover, this deck has a ton of instant speed burn which works really really well with first strike.
The two problems are that you would lose the synergy with young pyromancer. He has been a fairly strong card overall but I am not sure he is the best card available.

There is no real card draw available in red per se, but armillary sphere grabs two lands. With all the X burn spells I think this might be worth it.

What I am testing is:
-3 young pyromancer
-2 mountains
-3 bolt of keranos

+4 armillary sphere
+2 galvanic arc
+2 volcanic geyser

I know geyser and armillary sphere are both cards that do not get much love here, but they sort of work together. With 24 lands and 4 armillary spheres the deck acts as if it has 32(!) lands (although the spheres will eventually thin your lands). Before I added the spheres, there were so many games where I wanted to draw my 8th, 9th land etc. so that I could finish with a big X spell.

Pryromancer is certainly OK with this deck, but he works much better in Izzet with cards like think twice. I also would frequently cast pyromancer and just end up trying to use him to stall until I get enough mana to hit my big beats. Anger of the gods kills him and all of his tokens - Rabblemaster suffers from the same problem, but he is a huuge threat and is also aggressive enough to force opponents to block him and his tokens. I prefer to focus on the core strengths of this deck which are fast, highly damaging creatures and big burn spells.

The Shivan dragons are not exactly MVPs, but they are another big threat. I usually finish my games with X burn to the dome, but having huge firebreathers is great against lifegain etc.

Armillary sphere slows you down a lot less than you think. My early cards are reactive, I don't have any real 2 drops other than the sphere and only a few 4 drops.
