Monk has a list posted in Temur (Red/Blue/Green) that is essentially Jalira combo inside a solid control shell. I have not had time to test it extensively. That was what really got me started on the counterlash tangent . . . I am going to spend more time working off of Monk's list.

Hakeem, just watched your eighth grixis control gameplay video. i love that we can feel your crushing disappointment when you inspiration into a ton of land against a threatening board. You can just FEEL the anguish. So awesome. Live gameplay commentary is always so great.

For me Grixis often just feels like Izzet with a few demons stapled to the top of the mana curve. I met a new player today who was running a Grixis build that made use of mind rot in an izzet control shell, with token generators. Discard and bounce just go so well together, and Goblin Electromancer helps with my main beef against mind rot - the high mana cost.

Aside from normal use, you can bounce an opponent's creature and then force them to discard it, which can deal with potentially annoying on death triggers. Can also be comboed with quicken to force an opponent to skip their draw for the turn.

I love discard but it just isn't enough reason to run Grixis for me. The 7+ drops are obviously the bomb, but meh. Black is just totally underwhelming in this game for me.

I'm new here so don't know what I'm doing

Monsters
1x Shadowburn Demon
1x Sheolred, Whispering One
2x Rune-Scarred Demon
1x Griselbrand
1x Inferno Titan
2x Charmbreaker Devils
3x Dinrova Horror

Spells
4x Think Twice
2x Negate
3x Dissolve
4x Inspiration
4x Traumatic Visions
3x Tribute to Hunger
2x Anger of the Gods

Enchantment
2x Warstorm Surge

Lands
3x Island
4x Swamp
3x Mountain
3x Crumbling Necropolis
4x Izzet Guildgate
4x Rakdos Guildgate
4x Dimir Guildgate

Basically just trying to build a deck with Warstorm and Sheoldred to summon monsters back and win
I need help with this but you pretty much see where I'm going with this deck

I took your list and put it into the deck planner MisterP created. There's a link at the bottom of the list that will take you to the site.

Griselbrand's deck idea

A one vs. one deck for Magic 2015.

■■
Charmbreaker Devils4/4
■■■
Dinrova Horror4/4
Inferno Titan6/6
■■
Warstorm Surge
Cost 3 cards
■■
Rune-Scarred Demon6/6
Sheoldred, Whispering One6/6
Cost 1 card
Griselbrand7/7
Land25 cards

I'd say you don't have enough interaction in your 'early game' and may run into troubles with fast decks. Your focus; which you stated was to use Sheoldred and Warstorm, requires creatures to bounce out of the grave. You've only got 11 creatures in the deck which are all on the top end of your curve and no cards that fill your grave. You may want to consider some additional creatures if you want to stay with that theme and look at creatures like Necromancer's Assistant for discard options.

Welcome to the forums! Watch out for Megabeast and Barney, they're the two running around with scissors in hand.

I'm not sure if that comment is directed at me or the poster I was helping by putting their deck into planner form. If they were somehow able to get the warstorm surge online then the card would improve but the removal suite is limited so it wouldn't be very strong in this deck (so I agree with you).

yeah I was talking to grislebrand (I can read) it's just that whenever it's used against me tribute kills like a 1/1 because you give the option to the other player especially with how common young pyro is its very easy for the opponent to get an elemental token out on the board before tribute resolves

babasoonist, do you only teach the bassoon? I hate that instrument like poison. How often do you have to tell your students, "now moisten your reed!"

if you teach the uilleann pipes, then i'm game!

ladies...gentlemen... it doesn't matter. Barney will sniff anyone's crotch.

and my students better damn well know to moisten their reeds >_>

Not sure what it is, but I totally picture that being said followed by the crack of a whip (followed by a chorus of 'yes teacher').
