In the Running Spirit tavern on Iun Ilana, in front of a gathering crowd, Nasperge gives an Aubedore reading to Jade in the "Crossroads pattern."

For the corners, he draws the Flag (inverted), the Tavern (inverted), the Magician (inverted), and the Path (inverted).

For the spokes, he draws the Mute (inverted), the Wolf, the Seamstress (inverted) , and the Demon (inverted).

At the Crossroads, he lays the Hourglass vertically as the destination, under the fate card of the Castle (inverted), which is horizontal.

Jade is very confused about its meaning.

I don't blame her. This one would throw a lot of people off, particularly with all those inverted cards in there. But essentially it's telling her to look on the bright side and not lose herself to despair.

Welcome to the plane of Acejruju. It is a medium-sized plane that is the inside surface of a hollow sphere, and its land is highly varied.

It is a mostly peaceful place, with many small groups scattered across the world.

The plane's intelligent races are moderately diverse. Dwarves, imps, merfolk , turtle folk, thrulls, rhox, snake folk, cephalids, ouphes, and leonin, are all found here.

The plane's iconic creatures include Dinosaurs, Phoenix, Elementals, Shadows, and Griffins.

Here, you'll find the world is recently invaded by iconic creatures. Enjoy your stay!

Sounds like a fun place. Gotta watch out for those iconic creatures...

Aaaaaaaand just when I thought the Generator was running out of ways to torture Beryl, it manages to twist the knife.

That's our Generator!

So I forked off a "Simple" prompt generator, and while there are still some bugs (things with % tags from sublists actually call the tag as though it were text), it does seem to pop out usable prompts, being a plan to turn the generator more towards writing aid and less humor purposes.

This was its very first prompt.

Quote:
Beryl, the Heart-Scarred takes The Hands of Light and Shadow from Raiker Venn, prompting a lasting enmity

The spawn of the generator know well what to do.

Not that it can't still cough up epic goofiness

Quote:
Doom has come to the first sphere of Phyrexia. Only a planar native {30%} , with the help of Mari Gwynn and The Chaos Ring can hope to forestall Armageddon. But do they mean to forestall it... or to cause it?!

With the occasional oddly good one

Quote:
Chardis of the Dual-Walkers arrives on Aralheim, and there must gain the trust of Rani the Valkyrie {30%}

Or the expected

Quote:
Vasilias, Lord of Ariva comes into conflict with Renn Winmoore

It's here if anyone wants to play around with it

For the spokes, he draws the Archer, the Scroll (inverted), the Sword (inverted), and the Ring (inverted).

At the Crossroads, he lays the Peak vertically as the destination, under the fate card of the Library, which is horizontal.

Wow. This reading is heartbreaking...

I can see exactly where the problem with Tevish's code originates, but there doesn't appear to actually be anything wrong with the code? I compared it to the main generator and it looks like it's just copy/pasted, so I don't know why it would suddenly cause problems.

Quote:
Lia Xin finds herself captured by a very strange army comprised of Soltaris, Viashino Carriers, Antelopes, and even Zombie Teenage Djinn Scouts.

That last one made me laugh quite heartily. Also it made me realize, and I double-checked to see how it would be ordered, that the generator can possibly spit out the creature Teenage Mutant Turtle Ninja.

Lastly, I got this 1% prompt when I opened the main generator to check the code:
Quote:
Tryst is watching you. Right now.

I'm pretty happy with the "watching you" prompt. The first time I got one, it was Raiker Venn. :shudder:

Mine, too. For a long time, I considered that my favorite episode. I'm not sure I do anymore, but it does remain one of my favorites.

Dissapointed that there was no April Fool's prank involving the generator. Somebody should keep it in mind for next year.

I'm not surprised Ygraine is confused by this reading. You see, this appears to be one of those strange and rare readings that Nasperge briefly mentioned to Bernou is "The Magician's Crossroads" when he says:
Nasperge wrote:
But, the “Crossroads” pattern, with a few strange exceptions, moves from outside to in, and we always begin in the top left “corner” and work sun-wise.

You see, this appears to be what the Aubedore readers refer to as a "reflection," or a mirror reading. It goes from inside to out, which is, as Nasperge pointed out, pretty uncommon. One clue is seeing The Dragon in the upper left corner. This is very rare, indeed.

Anyway, let's see if I can't help the little lady out. The Crossroads pattern usually shows movement from several influences toward a singular destination. However, in the rare reflection reading, it shows a single starting point, and branches into the four most dominate paths of fate. In this reading, we see the "Destination" card (reflecting her origin, of course) is the Giant (self-explanatory) covered by the Lovers card, indicating passion, likely Ygraine's wanderlust and passion for exploration. This can lead her down several paths, in this case the Temple, the Fairy, the Wanderer, and the inverted Wall. The Temple is a sanctuary of spiritual enlightenment, and represents her path toward spiritualism. The Fairy is indicative of magic, naturally, but it has a air of selfishness to it, magic for small ends, pranks, or theft. The Wanderer, of course, represents exploration. The Wall usually represents keeping others out, and inverted, likely represents a self-sheltering, an isolationism that could result from being thrown from everything you know.

Now, the Temple, the Fairy, the Wanderer, and the inverted Wall lead to the Dragon, the inverted Peak, the Archmage, and the inverted Twins, respectively. The Dragon is the intensifier card, and coming from the Temple, this likely means that this path will eventually turn Ygraine into a zealot of some kind, or perhaps a sort of holy warrior, like a Paladin. The Peak represents the pinnacle of something, or achieving greatness. Inverted, it often represents mediocrity, or a failure to achieve desired success, which likely signifies, leading from the Fairy as it does, that the path of selfish magicks will lead Ygraine to a mediocre and unfulfilled life. The Archmage represents mastery, often of magic, but not necessarily. Seeing this leading from the Wanderer suggests that Ygraine's chosen path of wanderlust is a path to success. The final card, the Twins, signifies closeness, and inverted, a lack thereof, suggesting that if Ygraine shuts herself off from the world (the inverted Wall) she will end up friendless and alone.

Therefore, the cards seem to suggest that Ygraine continue to wander.

I hope this has helped.
