Okay, got an Azban mid-range/Spider Spawn deck. Got a list that seems fun, but I'm looking for opinions. Will post a list when I get on a computer vs tablet.

My first opinion to share would be something along the lines of wondering if it would have been better to just post that when you had the list ready. I mean, it's not like your list is Ep.VII of Star Wars. You don't really need to tease your upcoming Azban deck :)

I don't care what I brew next, the title of the deck will be ' Spoiler(s) for Star Wars Ep. VII'. Unfortunately it's getting tougher and tougher to brew ideas/variants so I may just have to assemble a random pile of cards just for this case.

The Necromancer

A deck for Magic 2015.

Satyr Wayfinder1/1
■■
Vizkopa Guildmage2/2
■■■
Wall of Omens0/4
■■■■
Necromancer's Assistant3/1
■■■■
Gravedigger2/2
■■
Arbor Colossus6/6
Baneslayer Angel5/5
Shadowborn Demon5/6
■■■
Nemesis of Mortals5/5
■■■
Pelakka Wurm7/7
Sheoldred, Whispering One6/6
Spell10 cards
■■■
Reprisal
■■■
Treasured Find
■■

■■
Planar Cleansing
Land24 cards
■■■■
Golgari Guildgate
■■■■
Orzhov Guildgate
■■■■
Selesnya Guildgate
6
Forest
3
Plains
3
Swamp

Alright, so here is my goodness I came up with. I am actually liking it so far, almost more then Jund Reanimator.

Satyr is my mana fixer as much as anything else. I can easily pull him out of the graveyard to mill myself some more and get land. Decent blocker so long as trample isn't involved and just plain fun. Obviously Assistant is the other part of the mill team, but it has a fun side I will explain in a moment.

Wall of Omens is a respectable blocker as well as source for card draw. It forces you to either have to play around it, or use removal better serving to the other biguns in the deck if it becomes too much of a pain. Also a nice answer to trample for soaking 4 damage.

Gravedigger, Treasured Find, and Sheoldred are all my tutors for the deck. Very fun to use Sheoldred to pull Gravedigger to pull something else back to your hand in the same turn. Treasured Find is just great to drawing the Satyr back out to mana fix, or get Sheoldred back out to do more shenanigans.

Arbor Colossus, Reprisal, Shadowborn Demon, and Sheoldred is really your central removal. I am more worried about big things coming at me then small and I will explain why in a moment. Also, if things get too hairy, just sweep with a Planar Cleansing, because 3 white mana is not a stretch for this deck, and Satyr mana fixes awesomely.

Nemesis of Morals and Vizkopa Guildmage are my 3 win condition. I have already used it a couple of times for people not paying attention. I swing in for 10, get blocked by a 1/1. That is pretty much a pain of Nemesis for not having trample. So you go around that by pumping it for lifelink and then using Vizkopa to trigger the effect that however much life you gain, the other player loses that much. That is 10 life per swing. You get that plus Baneslayer swinging in, that is 15 damage in one turn can you cannot stop without removal. And with so many tutors in the deck, removal that doesn't exile is no problem. That works just as well with Pelakka Wurm and Arbor Colossus. Even pumping the Assistant brings you 3 health against a blocker it might kill.

Of course, Spider Swarm. With Planar Cleansing dumping everything in the graveyard, it's an easy Spawn next turn with an amazing creature count given all of the mill between Assistants and playing Satyr over and over again.

Did some testing as the mana too using an MtG app that helps you calculate how often you might get mana flood/screwed. Out of 10 turns and 100 games, all the guildgates helps ease the problem with either of those things happening. So yes, half your mana is tapped lands, but it runs pretty smooth in most games I have played with it so far.

Thoughts?

If I was going straight lifegain, Gatekeepers win hands down. With the primary win condition being beat down, Pelakka Wurm is a better fIt. I might test in the Visionaries, I usually like them myself, but the Walls add a nice buffer until usually turn 4 or 5, and by then, I usually have graveyard shenanigans in hand to do mean things. Also seems silly to splashing into white for only Baneslayer, Reprisal, and Planar Cleansing. The Wall adds early game blockers as well as balances the colors rather cleanly. My deck runs 14 forest when I need 12, 11 plains when I need 6, and 11 swamps when I only need 6 again.

Give it a run as is and let me know whatcha think. As I said before, definitely open to ideas.

In that case just ask Beast to put together any one of his decks for you.

Junk

A deck for Magic 2015.

60 Cards (20 :creature: , 16 :instant: , 24 :land:)

Creature20 cards
■■■
Satyr Wayfinder1/1
■■
Vizkopa Guildmage2/2
■■■
Wall of Omens0/4
■■
Graveborn Muse3/3
■■■■
Saruli Gatekeepers2/4
Baneslayer Angel5/5
Shadowborn Demon5/6
■■■
Pelakka Wurm7/7
■■
Rune-Scarred Demon6/6
Sheoldred, Whispering One6/6
Spell16 cards
■■■■
Cloudshift
■■■■
Dead Weight
■■
Reprisal
■■
Treasured Find
■■■
Cultivate
■■
Planar Cleansing
■■■
Sylvan Bounty
Land24 cards
■■■■
Golgari Guildgate
■■■■
Orzhov Guildgate
■■■■
Selesnya Guildgate
4
Forest
4
Plains
4
Swamp

Typical Abzan/Jund like build. Remove threats, find lands, drop bombs.

Dead Weight has performed well for me. Removes utility bears and also breaks the tie in a Pelakka faceoff.

I have a strong affinity for Cloudshift. The swiss army knife of the deck. Counters removal. Saves chump blockers. Removes auras. Fantastic synergy with all the ETB triggers: Rune-Scarred Demon, Pelakka Wurm, Saruili Gatekeepers, Satyr Wayfinder, Wall of Omens.

After seeing Lockhammer using Vizkopa I liked the idea more and more. It's good enough alone giving one of your heavies like Shadowborn, Pelakka, Sheoldred, or RSD lifelink. But the real fun starts when you use it in conjunction with Cloudshift.

It's not uncommon to attack with Pelakka, surprise block by flickering it, gain 7 and burn 7 from Vizkopa.

And with Gatekeepers only costing 4, you can easily activate Vizkopa and cast them in the same turn.

It's funny you mention all those cloudshift etb combos but don't mention Shadowborn. Removal for 1!

Oh, and welcome to the site btw. The second movie I was ever in had IronHorse in the title.

Thanks, I use to post on the MTG forums before the migration here. Been reading but never posting until now.

And yeah, Shadowborn is an obvious Cloudshift target :D

Welcome! I like the build, lots of fun. Less graveyard and more lifegain than my build. The Cloudshifts are a nice touch. Thought about it myself, but decided against it. Works great here though!

Hi there!

New to forum and not my native language, so sorry if there's some messy stuff.

Just trying to build a lifegain deck with a bit of ramp to take advantage of lifegain and bombs via Séance and Sheholdred. Although there's nothing going on on turn one, i decided to run just basic lands and focus on green for the early game, and then adding white and black to get to WWW and BB which allows me to drop any card in the deck. Mulligans, Satyr and Cultivate help in that regard. Win cons include Felidar, Angelic Accord, Sanguine Bond... and the bombs complement each other well.

I feel this deck could be tuned, sometimes it has not a clear purpose until you get Séance. Not sure if I should run another copy of Rune-Scarred Demon instead of Shadowborn, maybe you guys could help!

I personally think one copy of seance is enough if you get 2 on the field it's actually pretty bad and you don't want a card taking up a spot in your hand in a junk deck
