If it comes into play and the only creature you have is Jalira you re going to be a sad puppy.

Than obviously don't cast or use her if she's the only one on the field when her ability triggers.

But then youre playing a pair of four mana 2/2s. It's not like you have a bunch of other creatures, without a Mystic or a Wall you don't have anything you'd want to sacrifice. The whole build needs a fair bit of work, IMO.

You want it to be a bit more like this? :P

[manapie 90 w u -b -r -g][/manapie]

Colossus

A deck for Magic 2015.

60 Cards (8 :creature: , 29 :instant: , 23 :land:)

Creature8 cards
■■■■
Squadron Hawk1/1
■■
Jalira, Master Polymorphist2/2
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth12/12
Darksteel Colossus11/11
Spell29 cards
■■■■
Fleeting Distraction
■■■■
Gods Willing
■■
Quicken
■■■■
Raise the Alarm
■■■■
Think Twice
■■■
Darksteel Ingot
■■■
Dissolve
Time Warp
■■
Obelisk of Alara
■■
Planar Cleansing
Land23 cards
■■■■
Azorius Guildgate
10
Island
9
Plains

I personally have mixed experiences with this deck in 1vs1 mostly due not drawing stuff consistently and lacking the card advantage that Avarice Amulet gives. But once you have the Hawks out it's an instant Darksteel Colossus.

UW Skies

A one vs. one deck for Magic 2015.

60 Cards (26 :creature: , 11 :instant: , 23 :land:)

Cost 8 cards
■■■■
Cloudfin Raptor0/1
■■■■
Loyal Pegasus2/1
■■■■
Vapor Snag
Cost 8 cards
■■■■
Squadron Hawk1/1
■■
Reprisal
■■■■
Think Twice
Cost 12 cards
■■
Niblis of the Breath2/1
■■■■
Pestermite2/1
■■■
Warden of Evos Isle2/2
■■■
Dissolve
Cost 8 cards
■■■
Phantasmal Dragon5/5
■■■
Skymark Roc3/3
■■
Bident of Thassa
Cost 1 card
Baneslayer Angel5/5
Land23 cards
■■
Arcane Sanctum
■■■■
Azorius Guildgate
11
Island
6
Plains

Pretty simple yet effective gameplan. Fly over for consistent damage output and massive draw with Bident.

The ideal opening hand starts with Cloudfin Raptor, which can become very big thanks to Skymark Roc, Phantasmal Dragon and Baneslayer.
The deck is light on removal with only 2x Reprisal and 2x Vapor Snag, but it also has tap effects with Pestermite and Niblis of the Breath.

Additional card advantage with Squadron Hawk and Think Twice, which works nicely with keeping up Pestermite or Dissolve.

Warden is the newest addition and allows us to play out our hand faster. Having 2 toughness allows it to block those random 1/1s, which other fliers can't always block.

Cloudfin Raptor evolving at instant speed with Pestermite can ambush small creatures and Skymark Rok gives us some more game against tokens.

Not a super fancy deck, but performs solidly and there are a lot of decisions to be made with the sequencing, making it fun to play.

Shiftmancer is a fun combo, I like the deck Hakeem I would just drop one of the inspirations for Master of Waves as he also performs very well with the cloud shift combo and you have a lot of blue devotion here, you could generate like 20 tokens in a turn :)

Without any other sorts of Lord effect I don't think this would work out too well. Since the tokens Master creates are 1/0. Pretty sure shifting him would remove the lord effect he provides before he comes back to give it again, which would lead to all of those tokens getting the axe.

The tokens stick around, SBAs aren't checked during a spell's resolution.

Here is an update to my azorius artifact deck. The expansion gave us some me toys with myrsmith and master of etherium. This deck still likes to play the late game but can sometimes get off to a fast start.

Preferred Pronoun Set: Mr
Ok this is my take on a version of Monks UW Artifacts deck. its more of a aggro flyers. so its got less control, in all honesty, little to none, but, it does have speed, and some great combos and you can make your artifacts basically cost nothing, and build up a nice little roflcopter army with sharding sphinx or myrsmith and then inspired charge for the win. the draw in the deck is fantastic and youre pretty much guaranteed a creature that reduces costs of your artifacts/creatures by one in the first couple turns. anyway, i would love some constructive criticism on this since artifacts have consistently been one of my favorite deck types since 2012. even though they were less prevalent until 2015

I just can't get behind Esperzoa, as while it's 4 power with evasion on a 3 drop, the Species Gorger effect really slows down Affinity's gameplan, especially because there is no affinity in our card pool. Sure, you can bounce an Elixer for free with Etherium Sculptor, but that's generally a big if. Squadron Hawk combos better with the Elixer of Immortality anyway, IMHO.

Rune Pic, I would suggest you drop Hot Soup, since so many of your creatures already have evasion.

Monk, how has Planar Cleansing been working out for you? Artifact decks usually want to dump their whole hand early. I feel like if you are behind enough where you want to use a Planar Cleansing, your probably already pretty boned.

Planar cleansing has been important as you are not fast enough to race some decks. You do have to change your play style though. I often use esperzoa to bounce a few key permanents before cleansing. Also you can use myrsmith plus esperzoa to clog the board without playing many spells. This forces your opponents to over extend.

Finally you have sanctum gargoyle, it is much easier for you to recover from a cleansing than most decks.

Herp derp, you are right Hakeem. Not sure how I forgot that both the exit AND enter effects on Cloudshift both occur during the resolution. I blame Flickerwisp!

Finally tried building a Jalira deck

[manapie 90 w u -b -r -g][/manapie]

Polymorph

A one vs. one deck for Magic 2015.

60 Cards (9 :creature: , 27 :instant: , 24 :land:)

Cost 4 cards
■■■
Cloudshift
■■■
Vapor Snag
Cost 12 cards
■■■■
Nullify
■■■■
Raise the Alarm
■■
Reprisal
■■■■
Think Twice
Cost 4 cards
Brimaz, King of Oreskos3/4
■■■
Dissolve
Cost 8 cards
■■
Jalira, Master Polymorphist2/2
■■
Talrand, Sky Summoner2/2
■■■■
Inspiration
Cost 3 cards
Baneslayer Angel5/5
■■■■
Angelic Edict
Cost 4 cards
■■
Captain of the Watch3/3
■■
Planar Cleansing
Cost 1 card
Darksteel Colossus11/11
Land24 cards
■■■
Arcane Sanctum
■■■■
Azorius Guildgate
9
Island
8
Plains

The deck works surprisingly well, given that it can still operate without Jalira.
It's basically a UW control deck that can still play Legendary creatures that you don't want Jalira to grab.

The only creatures you can Polymorph into are Darksteel Colossus, 2x Captain of the Watch and Baneslayer Angel.
Captain even gives you more tokens to then sacrifice.

Raise the Alarm gives you tokens to sacrifice without being a creature, and Talrand and Brimaz also generate tokens that can be sacrificed.

Deck in action:

A singleton in a deck with four Archaeomancers and very little removal. I will never draw multiple copies, but I will have access to it multiple times if I need it. It's maindeck playable in the right shell, but just barely.
