Masterofdoom, but now pick someone to vote, me, MoD and numbers are all interesting choices you should look at, at least at this point of the game.

That was my first thought as well, but then I actually thought about it. We know that name claiming is useless, since the names are random. So, all that leaves is alignment and roles.

Alignment is useless to claim, so, in reality, he's just saying that he's not going to claim a role.

However, the "no matter the circumstances" does bother me a bit. If he has any type of town role, there could very well be a good reason to claim, at some point in the game.

I wouldn't say random, I believe the names are all musically related at least. And I wouldn't believe Raz to come up with total utter nonsense either. WoT, on the other hand, sure.

this is correct, but be aware that they have been given valid fake claims as well, so they are aware of what to claim should a name claim come down the pipes. (for those who know what "enharmonic" means, they were given the enharmonic non-augmented interval. for those who don't, don't worry about it.)

Ambar comes off as immediately scummy to me.

The colors indicate his shifts in thought.

First, he states what he first thought, but goes on to say how he actually "thought" about it. At this point he essentially "backs up" Numbers (in so much as he states that claiming certain things is useless). Finally he goes back to a train of thought similar to his opening line, just not as loaded. All because he feels there may be a good reason to claim down the road (claim a role that is).

In summary, Ambar thought Numbers was anti-town, then he thought otherwise (implicitly stated), and finally he goes back to the anti-town train of thought (does not directly state so -- only that he is bothered which is equivalent to gu ------------- leaving this here, but not going to finish it. It is essentially the above just repeated with a different train of thought/described differently.

Only other thing to add is that how Ambar went about his post is akin to scum walking a middle path. He offers an initial opinion, jumps to the other side to say how he sees the other side of it, then comes back to the original side (but doesn't say directly what is implied with this). That is why he is scum to me.

Wait - my explaining my thought process makes me scum? I have given no direct reads on Numbers, just my thoughts related to his post. It's way too early in the day to be having strong reads on people. I was simply saying that, when I first read that post from numbers, by scum senses went off. But, when I thought about it further, it seemed less scummy to me, as I can understand some of the logic behind it. I still feel that, if he was in a specific situation (maybe he's about to get lynched, but had an ability that provided some information) that he should be willing to share info, assuming he is town.

Also, as you can see, I was incorrect about my assumption on the names being fully random. The fact that the scum team has been given valid fake claims means that name claiming is useless.

Regarding numbers' claim to not claim:
You will hear no discerning voice from me there. Personally I loathe claiming as well unless I can abuse it in a way that benefits my team (anyone remember Legend of Zelda on Px2?)

Regarding Ambar's post:
I like people who post their gut reactions as well as the new PoV. It isn't until the mind is changed again (because of someone saying something) that you can discern something.

Do not concur. I can say this because I have intimate knowledge as to what my role is and therefore can predict the impact that withholding it or revealing it would have. You cannot say as such.

In the future try to be more accurate. The act of you explaining your thought process doesn't make you scum. It is the way you went about it that makes you scum as far as I am concerned. As I showed, you're playing, what I would call, the safe scum.

And you're incorrect. You did give a direct read on Numbers. You originally stated you thought the same in regards to his post (that it was anti-town) before talking about how you could see how there is nothing wrong with what Numbers said. And all that before finally saying you "feel uneasy" about what Numbers did (essentially backtracking). Note this here for later.

Everything else you said falls in line with what I have already stated in regards to you. You are scummy to me.

As for the Note: When it comes to claiming a role, that is up to the player. At this point in time, speculating the conditions under which one should claim their role is useless. I will go so far as to say it may even help the mafia since they could use any info we reveal to their advantage. But I'll avoid arguing mafia philosophy at this point since it won't help. Point is, it is Day 1. We won't be doing any role claiming any time soon (barring someone wanting to do so just because).

If we ever reach a point where role claims happen, then it strictly comes down to whether or not Numbers will stand by what he said. If he does, oh well. The act of saying he wont' claim, and even refusing to claim in itself, isn't scummy unless we get info that can let's us know more about his role (in which case it would benefit the town for him to do so if that info is revealed -- and should he not help, well that is anti-town and can go one of several ways: he's scum sticking to his word, he's town sticking to his word, he's town and will break his word, or he's scum and he'll break his word).

Personally, I just really like an early day 1 bandwagon, and something about Ambar's response to KoD validated KoD's argument in my mind.
