I'm more inclined to think it speaks volumes to the quality of player that you are. [/quote]

This was really sweet elk. Thank you.. it means a lot. I've been here about a year and developed quite a bit as a player.. and it's largely thanks to reading what folks here write (even my beloved Stevo). You guys are certainly one of the better gaming communities I've been a part of.. and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Edit: I screwed up the quote box. :)

Oh no no no....I mean you stink...and your mother was a hamster...and your father smelt of elderberries..... (If I just dated myself with a Monty Python joke, so be it!)

Actually I've come to consider most folks who post on the board and discuss in detail the works of cards/ decks/ ideas over a period of time (which allows us to see consistency in their thought process and approach to game play) would be someone who is decent at the game. Case in point is the Sadist and Paragon interaction. I hadn't considered it but it is perpetual removal if not dealt with (unfortunately Undying Evil won't save the Sadist).

FYI - I've actually been running Flesh to Dust in the Assassinate slot. It is a bit more expensive but it's instant speed and I don't have to let the target attack me first (which often requires me to chump considering the self plink). Generally the targets I need to remove (that don't eat it to Ulcerate or Dead Weight or now Vicious Hunger) are the 5 CMC and up so I don't mind FTD at that point of the game and would rather avoid the hit if I can).

I can't claim the Cruel Sadist find.. that was my buddy Merc. She's really good here though.. and her ability to pick off stuff might allow Tribute to Hunger back in.

How many Flesh to Dusts are you running?

Monty Python references don't give me any clues as to your age.. only that you have good taste. :)

Inb4 'Get a room' jokes.

3 Ulcerate, 3 Vicious Hunger and 2 FTD are the current removal.

Megabeast mentioned he wasn't able to put up his latest deck list for discussion (something about his kids using his rig as a bath toy or eating the keyboard .....no wait..that's my kids who do that...) so here I am to the rescue! (where's my smiley face with the cape dang you!)

[manapie 90 -w -u b -r -g][/manapie]

I drive on the wrong side of the road

A one vs. one deck for Magic 2015.

60 Cards (21 :creature: , 16 :instant: , 23 :land:)

Creature21 cards
■■
Cruel Sadist1/1
■■
Bloodghast2/1
■■■■
Child of Night2/1
■■
Kalastria Highborn2/2
■■■■
Bloodflow Connoisseur1/1
■■■■
Phyrexian Rager2/2
■■
Graveborn Muse3/3
■■■
Paragon of Open Graves2/2
Spell16 cards
■■■
Ulcerate
■■■
Undying Evil
■■■
Vicious Hunger
Hall of Triumph
■■■■
Flesh to Dust
■■
Sanguine Bond
■■
Blood Tribute
Land23 cards
■■■■
Radiant Fountain
21
Swamp

Now which side of the road, that's up for debate. I personally would have gone with the title "I have a red pencil box" but I just couldn't seem to convince Beast otherwise.

Goodness gravy am I slap happy today!

I had been testing Beast's deck a fair amount and figured I'd share my experiences.

Self plink:
Cruel Sadist
Phyrexian Rager
Graveborn Muse
Ulcerate

Heal:
Radiant Fountain
Vicious Hunger
Child of Night
Kalastria Highborn
Blood Tribute

I highlight this specifically for one reason. The heals; most of the time, are conditional. The plink is not. Child of Night is weak until it has Anthem/ Lord effects so it can't start giving back until later (or it's a 1 time use). Kalastria and Tribute both require vampires to activate which can be tricky at times and Kalastria requires you to have one die which can have it's own issues/drawbacks (even though there is snyergy with Bloodflow Connoisseur and Bloodghast). Radiant Fountain can just be a bust in a deck that needs lots of double costs. I'm glad to see it's down to just 2 copies now. Vicious Hunger has to have a target but that usually isn't a problem unless you're facing control.

Now don't get me wrong, the deck works well (and I do enjoy it) and you can definitely get the heals going to offset the life loss but you have to always be conscious of the 'costs' with this deck. If you're facing anything aggressive, it can become tough to make plays and/or force bad lines/trades.

Still though, it's a lot of fun and a great take on a vampire tribal theme. It's really nice to pull off a Sanguine Bond into a Blood Tribute and get a 'wtf' message after.

nice one Beast!

The game plan here is stage 1, your going to want to hit all your land drops. notice no tap lands as we can't afford the tempo loss.
Stage 2, your going to want to get the combo pieces set up for the Butcher, so get some hot soup out for him
Stage 3, by this time we've exalted a lot of resources, so let's cast the butcher and refill our hand with card advantage. followed by giving butcher an appetite for the hot soup,
next turn we shuffle back everything and repeat. Have fun

It's just not an optimal build without them.. the spirit of Spike demands it.

The fact that it can be built as a rainbow deck yet legitimately be listed in the mono black thread is game breaking. Mind blown! The meta has shifted!

That's why I posted it, to see if anybody had any ideas, Radiant Fountain was brilliant to help by time for the Butcher. 4x radiant fountain to be added, I think we just pushed it to Tier 1

I just went 100-0 with this deck and win 90% of the time with Hot Soup out. The key is that the temperature of the soup must be correct or the appetite just won't be there.

I'm in shock, experiencing traumatic visions of Kozilek, Butcher of Truth's demonic appetite. Quicken that hot soup! Seriously, the guy has a vicious hunger. It's a nightmare to nullify!

On a serious note, great tribute to hunger Johnny!

You could include Rune-Scarred Demons to tutor your win conditions. That would require some more land, though. I think you only need 2 of the Guul Daz vampire.
