Now would be the perfect time to flee the battle. The goblin menace was removed and certainly the ogre could not catch them all if they run at different directions. His first instinct was to run a step away from the ogre at the forest's direction.
His nature made him turn back. More confused than ever.
A new spell shines at this mind. Why not use it? Even if he doesn't know how he is doing that.

"We can't let this beast kill them! Get up!" Welker said ignorant of the pain Grogash must be in. He let out a bestial roar, like those of his Orcish ancestry might make in battle and wrecklessly leapt forward to engage the beast, sword and shield back in hand. His slash barely finds its mark, but the cut he makes it deep.
Grogash whinced, but tapped into his own ancestral toughness to block out the pain and continue the fight. It is enough to carry his blade into the ogre's hide, but it did not seem to cut as deep as his brother.

Both Welker and Grogash tap into their inner beast to find more stamina to continue fighting. Grogash's beast is more active at this moment.
Welker hits the ogre at his arm. His sword barely manages to penetrate his sturdy hide. Grogash also hits the ogre at a softer spot, his belly. Still his hide absorbs part of the blow.

The ogre makes a sweep with his arm that pushes everybody away, only Grogash manages to evade this blow. His evasion is wasted nonetheless, because the ogre follows his first attack with a second attack almost instantly. Grogash raises his shield in time to block. The blow bends Grogash's arm and connects with the side of his head. For a time Grogash cannot see or hear anything, his world turns blank.

Seeing Grogash go out down a second time, the point that they maybe fighting a losing battle starts to sink in. "Fall back! We'll finish him another day!" Grogash hears his words and begins to make his way towards John and Wic.
Welker stands his ground with Man, at least for the moment. He gives his sword another swing and glances over at Man, motioning with his head away from the ogre.

Flee this powerful enemy is the right choice for John, just to have a chance of survival. Whoever flees last, however, will certainly be torn apart. The others will increase their chances of remaining alive. But only that, nothing stops the ogre of claiming one or more other victims.
In this time of pain, another spell pops in his mind. Something that could help his allies. He still doesn't know how he is doing that, having access to powers and knowledge that he doesn't have. But who cares at this moment of necessity.

The ogre swings his enormous arm at Welker. Welker jumps back at the exact time to dodge the strike. The attack, unfortunately for Welker, is a feint and the right foot of ogre hits his leg. Not exactly the best attack, far from that, almost a beginner's attack. Nonetheless the sheer mass is almost of bone shattering force.

The ogre uses the brief time that Welker is stunned by his kick to grab Welker with both his arms. One holding his trunk and arms while the other grabs Welker's legs. The ogre raises Welker above his head at a horizontal position and starts to tear him apart, pulling his body in opposite directions. If Welker were able to feel pain, he would collapse at this time.
The others just look astonishing scene, unable to move by fear and a sense of imminent defeat. The ogre continues to pull and when the tissues are about to tear, ending Welker's life. Only a miracle would save him now from a gruesome death.
And indeed a miracle does happen at the last possible time. A ray of blue energy comes from nowhere and hits the ogre at his head. Smoke appears surrounding the head of the ogre with the smell of charred meat. His grip weakens and he collapses on his knees, letting Welker fall to the ground slowly.
When the smoke vanishes, there isn't a head at the ogre's neck anymore. Just carbonized meat.

"I don't think death hurts this much does it?" Welker said after falling to the ground. Grogash walked up to him and poked at him with the hilt end of the sword. "Stop it. I'm alive," Welker said brushing the end of the weapon away and rolling over to start pulling himself to his feet.
His Orcish eyes locked onto what remained of the ogre's head, still smoking. "Ludwig, wish I had a trick like that. Why did you wait so long to use it?" Welker asked mistaking the man with two souls as the source of the miracle.
"Me? It wasn me." John says confused. He looks at his surroundings and finally he perceives he is still alive. The danger already passed and he is still in one piece.
John drops to the ground on his knees and starts to guffaw maniacally. Soon tears of joy stain his countenance and he stays laughing and sobbing almost simultaneously. Obviously confused about his feelings at the moment.
Man lowers his axe and approaches Wic that appears to have sprained his ankle during his desperate run of the ogre. Wic is laying down on the ground holding his ankle, making a face of pain. Man raises his arm pointing something at the sky.
