So I took a long hiatus from 2015. I built some decks early on but did not play much online. I feel like this color combination has some real possibilities.
I read through all of the posts - and Hakeem has provided a blow by blow for his deckbuilding. I read the Hakeem decklist for a number of pages. I think
Shadowborn Demon is a stellar card due to the recurrable EtB, his ability to sac creatures you want to recur via Seance or Sheoldred, and you can also reach 6 creatures in your graveyard pretty quickly if you want him to stick to the board.
Seance is just a bonkers card in this meta IMO. In 2015 tribal synergies are weak because the tribes do not have enough cards. I think of
Seance as a "lord" effect for creatures with Enter the Battlefield abilities. It is a very strong card that does not necessarily require you to build around it.
Satyr Wayfinder is the next card I would include - it is good by itself, and the extra graveyard pitching helps
Seance a lot.
Other than those four cards, nothing is set in stone. I think the next thing I need to decide is whether to include
Necromancer's Assistant. The Satyr is enough to make Seance viable, I think the extra graveyard pitching from the assistant could cater to more of a toolbox approach which would favor situational creatures such as
Reclamation Sage. More assistants also makes
Treasured Find and possibly
Rescue from the Underworld more valuable. I am actually kind of confused how few rescues I have seen, considering how many decks have been toting Griseldude and other very expensive cards. Rescue has the disadvantage that you need to sac a creature, but that creature returns to play and gives you a second EtB effect, which is pretty cool.
The lifegain EtB suite (Missionary, gatekeepers, Pellaka Wurm) is pretty sweet in combination with angelic accord, I feel this combo is or should be about the strongest you can get in terms of anti-aggro. But is that lifegain unhelpful vs more controlling builds?
I think the most helpful fatties in conjunction with Seance have got to be
Rune-Scarred Demon and
Craterhoof Behemoth. I have seen a lot of
Baneslayer Angel and
Griselbrand, and I have to say, they are both powerful cards, but in general I favor cards with very good EtB effects. Seance just makes EtB that much more valuable.
