Just as an added topic of discussion, after having played over on MTGS for quite some time, I find the ability to adjust the number of cards in hand each round to be a big boon to the game overall. I know people worry about the complexity of 5cm, but it's really not bad at all. I don't want 5cm ALL THE TIME, but I've found it and 4cm just as fun, and a rotation between the three to be the best.
booooooo @ anything other than vanilla 3cm

I like keeping it 3 because it's a useful framework and we don't have to start from scratch each time. plus as the number grows lines of play get more and more complex. the point of 3 is that it's the smallest number where interesting things can happen.

that said, alt formats are way more fun than vanilla.

You could have 4cm as an alt format every so often, but I prefer keeping vanilla 3cm ... well 3cm.

Would you be willing to post the decks tonight? I know we are technically supposed to wait till tomorrow, but it's been running for well over a week now, the wait is killing me, I actually have time to spend a lot of time on it tonight, and I don't think we are going to get more submissions in the next 5 hours.

Edit: Apparently rounds begin on Thursdays..... not Wednesdays. I did not know that.

I haven't submitted yet, and I plan to.

And indeed, I believe I have more like 29 hours from your post rather than 5.

Jumping deadlines isn't ever a good idea.

So just to clarify.

Do we play assuming you know the other person's hand (especially going first) or you don't?

For example, if you could tie or even win the game by not doing anything (going first) until your opponent went, but you would only do this if you knew what they were planning, how does that get scored?

You play with perfect information: you know what's in their hand, what morphs they have, the order of cards in their library (if any ever get placed there), and so on. You also play optimally. That is, neither player will make a play the results in them losing the game if another option is available.

Suppose Jane is playing Swamp/Bog Rats/Deathmark and Tom is playing Black Lotus/Threads of Disloyalty/Alpine Grizzly. If Jane plays Rats, Tom Threads it and wins; so she doesn't. If Tom plays Grizzly, Jane Deathmarks it and can then play Rats and win; so he doesn't. Classic 2-2 draw. (Well, maybe not classic.)

I would call it a rushed classic.

It's finally here!

Vanilla Spreadsheet!

For new folks, here's how it works. The "Decks" tab lists each deck with a number assigned to it (and an optional deck name in italics). The "Scoresheet" tab has a grid, each row shows how well that deck did against each other deck. For example, my row (row 1) starts with a black square (since I don't play against myself), then my score against deck 2, my score against deck 3, and so on. The number you put in the square is your total score after two games. The "Basic Info" tab has more details on how to figure out that score.

Everybody, please stick to your own row for at least the first few days. Let's give everybody a chance to fill in their own scores. Towards the end of the week we can focus on filling in leftover spots and double checking things.

what happened to Door's deck?

:duel:

PS: well, I did terrible. anyway, I'm taking solace in the fact that the launch in General has the largest participation of any season launch to date.

I think Scarlet did her row wrong vs me.

Karakas
Leyline of Singularity
cenn's tactician

vs a smallpox deck, it's a standoff. I can just cast smallpox to kill the tactician and their land, if she decides to put anything down before I cast anything. Thus, I can't ever directly lose this matchup, since the worst I can do is wait. Yet Scarlet's row lists 4 points against mine.

Same with deck 12. Hollow Trees, the tabernacle at pendrale vale, big *** creature.

I go first, he discards a card, he puts down tabernacle. TIE

I go second, it's either a standoff or a damage race. I haven't calculated this one yet, but either way he gave himself 6 points versus a smallpox with no way to stop me from casting it.

Be careful not to mix up Google's row numbers with the deck row numbers. ;)

Wrong row, that is Deck 3, my row. I put a note in the spreadsheet, but Daze gets lotus when I'm on the play and you can't crack lotus when you are on the play or else I get to put down Chronomaton and pump it to a 3/3.

4-1

By the way, Jace, The Living Guildpact v Chronomaton is a real headache. If anyone wants to do Deck 3 vs Deck 9 matchup and PM me your analysis, go for it. I promise I wont tell POSValkir.

Hmm, can't look at the spreadsheet at work, but if my last minute change made it and these are the decks...maybe my original submission would have been better.

Edit: Lol, LOTS of the matchups I did with that were a headache (when I found it and put it together)
