Not misquoting him. Apparently I am a "filthy secondary" who doesn't know the beauty of certain series because I haven't read the manga and thus am not able to follow it properly.

Sounds to me like your friend is a hipster seeking authenticity, without realizing he's part of the system.

There's plenty of manga I like who's anime are pretty terrible.
You can't say a series (I suppose you can use the word franchise here) as a whole is bad unless you've seen all iterations of it,
But I sure as hell can say a certain iteration of it is terrible.

By the word "series" i meant just the anime. :( The thing that started this entire argument was Demon King Daimao and Guilty Crown.

This is also what I tend to use.

There are tons of examples where the anime and the source materials differ quite a bit.
Example: I didn't like the Omamori Himari anime, but I did like the manga enough to finish it.

Or the saying older /a/ visitors know:
There is no Tsukihime anime.

But Guilty Crown is awesome what are you talking about

Anyway, that's what I meant with misinterpret. Maybe he thought you meant the franchise, just like storyteller did. Otherwise, I find it asinine to say that you can't judge an anime on it's own merits, unless it's a sequel or otherwise assumes some prior knowledge.

I always did find that one kind of funny, since surprisingly, I actually liked the anime.
I mean, the action scenes were crap, but the daily life bits were fine.
It helps that the manga adaptation of the anime does a hell of a lot better job with the action.

I watched a Let's Play of the erotic dating sim called Hunie Pop. Is it bad that I want to play the game because of the match-3 puzzle mechanics? Because I want to play the game, and like 90% is because of the match-3 puzzle mechanics.

Well, arguably it's good that you want to play a game for its mechanics, but aren't there already a lot of match-3 games on the market? Why buy a match-3 game cluttered with subpar dating game mechanics that interrupt the core gameplay?

That's funny, because I wanted to play it for the subpar dating game.

Crunchyroll.

Sometimes it's really really good.

And sometimes it feels like it's being run by Netflix. This is one of those times.

They added Detective Conan to Crunchyroll under the name Case Closed. Good right? Wrong. They've added only 11 episodes. Well at least you get to see the beginning of it, see if you like it right? :( They've added 11 episodes beginning at 700 and something.

Netflix would be proud.

That's why I'm glad I'm in mainland Europe and can watch anime in dozens of other ways without having to worry about anything.

I'm sure CR wants to get the entire series. Someone on the Japanese side of things is probably refusing to play ball.

I'm convinced that the dance at end of Absolute Duo's second opening is the best thing to come out of this season.
That's why I'm glad I'm in mainland Europe and can watch anime in dozens of other ways without having to worry about anything.

Hooray for piracy.
I feel like I should support the shows I like in some fashion, but I don't understand weeb and I won't watch dubs. Posters and figurines are equally unlikely.
Best bet is probably soundtracks, as I generally like those. Not sure if those generally come with the BD or not.

I do import figurines and stuff if I really like shows and games (got a Leomichelline figurine from Dog Days and a Ran Yakumo figurine from Touhou Project as most expensive items. Were each around 150 bucks including import fees and taxes), but there is no viable way to watch anything here.

CR doesn't have a foothold at all in my country. Other streaming media don't even know my country exists.
And if CR has something here, it is never anime.
And don't even get me started on local channels. If they get something, it's using a horrible dub with the same 4 voice actors for every role that can't act if their life would depend on it and the newest thing they have is the Pokemon anime, with nothing else from Japan. All live action crap...

Rips are pretty much my only source of any anime ever. So I'm just glad that for now there doesn't seem to be any intention to stop it (our laws only forbid uploading stuff or downloading with intent to sell).

Such a melancholy feeling. Only 30 episodes or so left before I am caught up with One Piece. At least it's a continuing series and it's not the end I'm approaching.

I wouldn't worry about that. We should be more worried that it never ends.

I'm not sure why I would worry about a show never ending. Isn't that a plus?

Oh, I'm caught up now. 680 episodes down and looking forward to more.

Well, imagine you are 80-years-old and One Piece is still nowhere near ending. Imo, every story needs an ending to make it feel complete.

Kinda contradictory I guess, wanting the series to continue because I like it but wanting to see a proper ending too.
