Anyway, as a general comment, if I don't reply within a day since the last post, you can probably assume that I just have nothing noteworthy to contribute. The number of times where I don't have time to respond will probably be negligible in comparison. I'm not sure if we're waiting for something or someone specific right now, or if it's an irl cause, so I thought I should say.

I was kinda waiting on Tequila to give a small update, but since he already okay-ed my pyre, I now did a small post to say I'll head further down into the darkness. I also check in daily, though sometimes find myself at a loss of what to say / do. I was considering reacting to the haunting laughter, but I kinda figured that Hiath would have said something had he actually needed help, so I kept working on my own pyre project. It very much seems like Hiath is more than capable, and possibly designed to be the solution to problems, just not a leader.

I mean, I designed him to be a level 5 character, although justifying his power level is by far the most difficult part of his backstory, and also the most handwaved. Doing things is fun though, so of course he's not a commoner.

I sort of assume you are familiar with the changes from 3.5 to PF as it is squinty, but you can detect magic properties of items with Detect Magic and a spellcraft check (15 + CL) in PF. Identify isn't required.. It's not entirely unfeasible for you to be able to understand it.
Or, at the very least, determine if it is magic in nature.

I don't particularly mind. Like I've said, I enjoy being kept in the dark and bringing about my own demise unwittingly (and if not, now I have). However, given that you have the tools, I would have imagined the conversation either going "This thing is evil, I know it" or "Gramps, it's not even magical." / "It's just illusion magic, what's the worst that could happen?"

You know basics about them. They often have evil societies, they have darkvision, many worship arachnids or arachnid deities, etc.

Basically, I know the preconceptions about them? Spiffy. Then I'll keep taking my opportunities at flaunting my flaws until either Hiath or Rabican breaks.
