Cathar has been a key to victory in my token r/w build a NUMBER of times. Though he does come with the cost of less aggression early so I could see an argument against him too.

If there wasn't sigil blessing and you really needed another anthem cathar is not bad. I understand it's inclusion in RW tokens as you need to be as aggressive as possible. But GW tokens has better options and can afford to be a turn slower as it has a better late game.

Selfless cathar lets you cast triplicate spirits on turn 3, for that reason alone I think he's much better than sigil blessing.

Talking about ways to counter anger of the gods, I have a single safe passage in my selesnya tokens for that purpose, which turned out to be very useful in a variety of situations in most matchups.

Any one drop can do that, but I'm not loading up on them because you also need to have a Raise the Alarm to make that happen.

I've been playing through most of the decks in the Deck Builder's Consortium thread. Trying to understand what makes a good deck, and to understand what style I like to play.

My absolute favourite so far has been Truth Seekers from @stevolutionary
viewtopic.php?f=50&t=4688&start=100#p183024

I like decks that require thinking and good decision making and have the flexibility to deal with a variety of opposing archetypes (provided you play them well).

A bunch of the aggro/token decks win often, but don't take much skill to execute the strategy and don't have a plan B.
A bunch of the really strong control/ draw-go decks also win often, and take more thought but are very reactive and really only have one strategy (counter/block/remove until you have control).

What I enjoy is combo/control with a bunch of ways of eking out a win depending on the situation. @hakeem928's Abzan Lifegain is my other fave for all the same reasons.

Truth Seekers has been a ball.

I made one minor edit after losing 3 games to tokens, and have gone 40 and 5 with the deck.
-1 Satyr Wayfinder
-1 Forest

+ 2 Planar Cleansing
Planar Cleansing worked well with Banisher Priest and/or Aegis Angel as the exiled or indestructible creature survives the board reset. I never found myself short of mana, I didn't miss the 4th Satyr.
The other two losses were to a seance/doubling season/Angelic accord and a RDW.

Specific things I liked in the deck, was the versatility of Banisher Priest for removal, or for protecting my own creatures (with Seance letting me reuse them a few times), The Aegis Angel/Palisade Giant combo (usually causing an instant "player has been replaced by the AI"), and the way Mentor of the Meek, Kor Cartographer, and Seance just keeps you fuelled up on cards and extra land.

I'm glad to see that you are back on the forums after your planned departure.

Cheers and thanks.

Nish

Hey there! Thanks for the compliments!

I would say Truth Seekers is possibly my most powerful and consistent deck, and possibly my favourite to play too. It did originally run Planar Cleansing, and as you say it combos well with the Aegis Angel, but I eventually took it out for more Angelic Edicts as I found it was usually just the one problem creature I needed to kill more often than not.

I agree Cleansing is great versus tokens though. It's definitely a good inclusion generally too, and with all the draw and fetch, I think cutting a land is fine, though I do feel the Wayfinders are a crucial card personally, and wouldn't cut one. Once Seance sticks, I almost never lose, and he's crucial fuel for that aspect.

If you were interested in any of my other decks, I'd say the mono Blue Faerie deck is probably my second most consistent deck, and my Dead Draw Esper deck is probably my second favourite to play. Especially with the (surprisingly consistent) Griselbrand/Skulker/Justice combo.

When I eventually lose with Hakeem's Golgari Spawn, I'll take Truth Seekers out for a spin and see how many wins I can get in a row. It'll be fun to compare their track records. The deck looks great.

Truth Seekers is a very consistent deck from my play testing with it a while ago but I don't think it is fair to pit it against spider spawning :P

If you're doing this kinda thing I would argue to do it with hakeems abzan. Spider Spawning I don't think is fair as it makes medicore decks great anyway generally..

is that the general consensus about spiders? Of my 15 wins, only two have been because of the spiders.

My first deck was Mobius' spider build and I didn't do very good with it.

If different deck builders are going to actually announce which is their most consistent deck, it would be fun to see how long a win streak I can get with each.

Are you calling my deck mediocre?!?

But seriously, Spider Spawning is so powerful in this meta that bad decks can just win if they resolve one. I think my deck has a lot more game, though, because it's really just a solid midrange deck that has ridiculous inevitability with the graveyard subtheme.

As far as my Abzan goes, you can watch Johnny kick the crap out of it with his Kiln Fiend deck on my channel, so Izzet burst decks are extremely strong if built and piloted correctly.

I haven't played Stevo's deck but I've played against WG Séance decks and they are powerful. If you can't exile the Kozilek, then it's pretty tough to beat them if they get to the lategame.

If we're defining "best deck" strictly on win percentage, though, I'm sticking with Spiders.

Spiders and RDW. Yes Izzet burst is WAY up there and always love to show up when I am piloting a new deck! ><

Not at all am I saying it is mediocre. I am saying it is probably second best. And probably my favorite of your builds. Though your B/U/R build has grown to be truly awesome these days. And the monkeem project is really solid too though I don't feel it is as FUN.

Here's the order I'm attempting these win-streak contests:

Hakeem's Golgari Spawn
Steeve-O's The only non-token Selensya deck
Hakeem's Izzet
Devil's mono-white

after that, I might do either a Selensya or Naya Token, I should probably do a Lifegain and RDW deck at some point too.

Take out my End of Days build for a run on 1v1 randoms. I love the build and it really does well there.

I'm not going to do it.

I'll make you a deal, if you post it in the Tier One deck discussion thread and people agree with you that it's a Tier One deck, I'll play it after Devil's Yes Sir! deck

Teir one is already established.

RDW
Spiders
Tokens

I am not claiming it is Teir 1. I am claiming that it is truly a work of art and is VERY consistent. It can beat the big name decks. And it rarely looses in pubbies.

Is that right? I didn't know it was finalized, I thought it was still up in the air.

K, so I need to try a run with RDW and some sort of tokens. I think I prefer Naya tokens over Selesnya, maybe I'll do that.

btw, I have no idea what your End of Days build actually is.

Thanks for giving me the Tier One list, I've been dying to see what people finally agreed on. That thread is hard to follow. Steve-O actually made the best attempt, I thought, at suggesting a tier list.
