So I know this has been around for a while but I figured I'd bring it up for those who haven't seen it before.

Pathfinder: Point-Buy Race Creation

The rules presented above were originally released in the Advanced Race Guide as a do-it-yourself guide to building balanced races. For those who care about these sort of things yes the guide was released as part of the Pathfinder SRD - I just prefer the layout of it on that site then I do the official site.

So basically I'm just curious if anyone else has ever played around with this thing. While I appreciate that it's not perfect (you can still create some exceptionally broken characters using the guide) I've had some success and fun putting together races with it. So how about it? Anyone ever used this to build anything?

No, and I can't imagine ever doing so. If I were to make my own race, I would rather trust my own judgment that that thing.
It's also more creatively limiting than just looking rationally at what a race should have based on natural features and culture.

Fair enough. Truth be told whenever I've used this thing in the past I've usually got everything but the mechanical side of the race set in stone anyway; culture, outlook, lands, language, industry, religion all that junk. The guide just gives me a rough guide on creating the actual mechanics of the race even if if tends to give me abilities that are more 'eh close enough' then 'this is exactly how I pictured this race functioning.'

Speaking of the fluffier side of race creation what do people tend to take into consideration when building a new race? Personally I tend to go the whole hog so more often then not they also require a new world to inhabit as well rather then just dumping them into a pre-existing campaign world.

I always write the bare minimum possible and then improvise on the fly as necessary.
