Why did midichlorians have to be a thing?
Because nerds are inherent tunnelers, and when they focus on one thing, they cannot be satisfied until they reach its end. Additionally, Star Wars is a magical science-fiction universe, and midi-chlorians might have been a (feeble) attempt to infuse the universe with real "science."
How many years should it take for the Sahara to cover all of northern Africa?
Desertification does not occur linearly, much like all climate/weather conditions. Given this, and that it can be combated by science, by irrigation and adding vegetation to the landscape, it is doubtful if the Sahara's eventual conquering of Northern Africa will happen at all.

What is blue? Not a definition of the color blue? I mean, what makes the actual color blue, blue?
Color is created when an object reflects wavelenghts of light. Things are usually blue because they hate blue and want to fling the very idea of blue in your face, though by doing so they appear, then, to be blue.

Why has the forum posting games subforum died? Will it ever not be dead?
Probably not. When NGA declared my "Let's Make a Sandwich" thread a gaming thread and then moved it to another subforum, they inevitably caused me to curse the entire forum, to sap the joy out of it. (trappedslider is a harbinger of the NGA apocalypse, for example.) The other explanation is that NGA is too specialized; people generally only go to their respective interests and then pop into the Off Topic Room to see what's going down. The number of subforums has the benefit of consolidating similar content, but Website Design 101 shows the more clicks a user has to do to access content the less likely they'll access that content.
