A lot of :g: cards that I like for their flavor or artwork also happen to be anti flying spells. So I was wondering how effective is an anti flying deck? It seems there are a lot of anti flying spells.

what do you guys think? Is there a way to make an anti flying deck work or would it be too specific to a certain type of deck that focuses on flying?

Being anti-anything isn't really a good core strategy unless you expect to face A LOT of that kind of deck. By all means, put some anti-flying cards in your deck, but I wouldn't build a deck around the theme. You run into the same problem life gain decks have- you may have ways to put off losing, but if you don't have a plan to win your opponent will get you in the end.

I once built an anti-flying deck!

It was nasty. First I would use spells like Flight(blue) on an opponents creature, and then I would destroy them with an anti-flying card like Wingsnare(green).

What fun!

Another echo of TPmanW here--a pure "anti-flying deck" won't really win you many games, because the vast majority of the decks you'll encounter won't be completely dependent on flyers to win. Heck, not all of them will even use flyers at all.

Lunar Mystic and Tevish Szat have the right idea if you want to go for an "anti-something" strategy--use things that turn your opponent's cards into whatever your deck is designed to deal with. Though I wouldn't recommend using multiple one-shot cards like Flight and Wing Snare to do it--then you're just two-for-one-ing yourself every time you deal with something. Go with sweepers and repeatable effects instead, like Silklash Spider, Predator, Flagship, and so on.

Silklash Spider and Predator are actually at the heart of an infinite combo that's all contained in the prebuilt green C14 commander deck. You can pay 40 mana to make your own army of elves into flyers, and blow them up, then bring them all back with Grave Sifter, bring that back with Haunted Fengraf (preferably with no other creature cards in the graveyard), and bring Haunted Fengraf back with Titania, which you promote to be the commander (it's not infinite if you stick with Freyalise).

Each time through the loop, you get to produce three batches of mana, thanks to Swiftfoot Boots granting haste: one batch from Elvish Archdruid, one from Priest of Titania, and another after you play Wren's Run Packmaster to champion one of them, kill the Packmaster, and bring the mana elf back. With Lys Alana Huntmaster adding more tokens each time you replay your Elves, the amount of mana you generate each time through the loop can increase by 60 or more. Meanwhile, Titania's commander tax only increases by 2, so it's repeatable forever.

I have a casual deck which is designed to give things flying and use flyer-hate cards on them. To avoid card disadvantage, I loaded it up with repeatable effects and value cards. Skygames is an all-star. There's also Wind Dancer and Soaring Seacliff. I also have lots of creatures with anti-flying abilities, like Arashi, the Sky Asunder, Stingerfling Spider, Trophy Hunter, Matsu-Tribe Sniper, and Geistcatcher's Rig.

Fun fact: Matsu-Tribe Sniper single-handedly holds off a hardcast Emrakul.

That is an interesting concept. What about cards like Tornado Elemental and Cloudthresher, too expensive?
