The top of the library is actually more random than the hand. Also, I think it leads to better gameplay. That's just my suggestion of course.

@Mown: Riovard beat you to that idea.

Not sure what you define as my idea in this scenario.
Anyway, in terms of top vs hand, I'm really ambivalent.
Top is deterministic if you do it multiple times a turn. That means that with several triggers, you either get a lot or nothing. Making it pseudo-random provides more of a curve.
At the same time, revealing the top card takes a lot less effort, which I'm in favor of. Having to reveal a random card over and over easily becomes tedious.

Maybe after you seek you put the top card on the bottom.

I can get on board with that.
Edit: Actually, is it more flavorful to reveal the bottom and put it on the top?

If it's possible to always see the top card there will be a lot less tension about draws, putting it on the bottom of the library might be needed.

I do think I like that direction.

Seeking is worded as a "may" ability in the OP, which sorta imbalances fearful sentry.

Disturbed Dreams needs a cmc.

Will-fix. My work is murderous for the holidays.

Quietly resumed working here, but not happy with a few filler cards.

I notice that white has two 2-power one-drops at common, both investigators. I would be wary of having too many powerful, aggressive investigators in the format, since that takes away from the Lovecraftian feeling of hopelessness. I think a better route is to have weak investigators that get better with combat tricks and smart thinking.

Splintering Fate is a lot worse than Holy Day or Safe Passage.

Mistbound Deceiver doesn't seem to fit well with the theme of humans being powerless against the darkness.

Crucial Error could be common. Change the name to "Extinguished Hope"?

Unfortunate Accident: "Target opponent sacrifices a creature at random."

I like Raving Lunatic. I hope there's some Human tribal in the set.

Spiraling Unreason is fantastic, both mechanically and flavorfully. My favorite card in the set.

I think Tindermote should have Gray Ogre stats.

Fungoid Wall seems like too much bookkeeping for common.

Agree with first sentiment. Don't want to have human aggro as an archetype, necessarily.

Splintering Fate also has versatility for your own seeking creatures, and playing around opposing combat tricks.

I think it's less about having power over the darkness so much as playing on the theme of pockets of traitors among humanity. Maybe a rework on the name.

I was kind of figuring one soft counter at common, and one hard counter at uncommon. Should both be common? I can add a third counter I suppose.

Thank you.

Trying to avoid human tribal to keep the distinction from Innistrad, but for flavor's sake, feels worth keeping as-is.

Can work with that.

Probably uncommon territory then. Original design was removing two counters.

Thanks for the feedback!

Large sets usually have one soft counterspell and one hard counterspell at common. For example, M15 has Negate and Statute of Denial, in addition to Dissipate at uncommon. Khans of Tarkir has Disdainful Stroke and Cancel, in addition to Stubborn Denial and Temur Charm at uncommon.

Hey, I did things and it turns out I'm not dead! I'll hopefully be doing things here again. I added a couple Blue cards, but realized I'm not perfectly happy with most of Blue as-is.

Congratulations on the not death thing. (Not that it's that bad) You'll see your set in NGA constructed one day.

Update: I've resumed work on Obscio, and it's at 145/230 cards, currently. As I'm no longer an active forum user here, I've migrated the work to MTGNexus, for ease of mockups. I don't suppose anyone else was as invested as I was in Obscio, but I'm hoping to finish the project by my birthday in March.

Thank you all for getting my design-brain kicking for the time I spent here!

Once it's done, I'll be sure to post another update. :)

I am both glad to hear your thanks and disappointed we won't be seeing a whole lot of you around here. Do drop by once in a while, okay?
