Speaking of races I always meant to ask what's up with Tieflings in this campaign setting. I know 4E Vanilla has them as like there own race with a big background and there own nation and things but I sorta went ahead and ignored that and went for the older interpretation of 'descendant of those whose bloodline has become mixed with fiendish taint' thing.

So yeah are tieflings (and other planetouched for that matter) particularly common in Talcar?

Planetouched races, like tieflings, aren't uncommon on Talcar, but there might only be one for every 1,000 people. They mostly live on other planes, and generally only come to Talcar as opportunists or merchants. I generally assume they're as you stated, fiendishly tainted, etc.

Awesome. Last thing I need is my awesome majesty diluted by having an entire nation of similarly empowered guys. Plus I've been using that as partial justification for Lucian's whole 'is in fact a massive racist' thing.

Aregano... *Hand meets forehead... Hard!*

Probably has a reason for what I find funny, but I just have to wonder!

Shockwave, please feel free to give feedback!

What did you find funny about Aregano's actions/questions?

My first thoughts when reading it were, yes the orc probably does know them. I mean in your part of the post earlier it showed several others be surprised at him acting like that. :p

That's just my take on it, from reading, but like I said you could have your reasons behind it (understanding of common, friendly small talk, ect.) Likely I'll see soon.

I think I could have worded the question better...

Aregano was asking if the orc he's talking to knows the group of orcs "harrowing Farmer's Village". He's trying to ferret out more information, specifically why a band of orcs was able to slaughter a group of adventurers that previously tried to deal with them. From what little the orc has said so far, it wasn't clear (to me) if the orc was saying any one of the following possibilities:

1) Orcs in general wouldn't use flags, and so no use trying to get the orcs we're after to try ...even though these orcs just did (so perhaps we should expect an attack shortly...a further possible reason for why the orc leader was willing to just toss gold on the boat...he expected to get it back from the corpses on the boat once they were done slaying.)

2) These orcs are the orcs attacking the village, and will not be swayed to be peaceful.

3) These orcs are on their way to kill the same orcs that we are, and will not allow the other orcs to surrender and will kill them.

4) Something else?

My interpretation of the other orcs' "startled" reaction was that it was just a reaction to how strongly the orc responded to Aregano (DM's acting out of the 1 that was rolled) "HIIIIIII!!!!".

I'm trying to walk the line between how much back and forth would be said in a normal conversation and how many posts it takes to uncover the information Aregano wants. : )

Sounds good.

Never hurts to hear another's opinion on something. Though I've had more than one misinterpretation in my time...

Ah... Yes... But I don't think he'd be in position for negotiating.

Though I am... If I heard it.

Well, come now, they ARE mercenaries...getting paid is what they do. It would be a "well understood" signal or look between comrades.

It would be like when your wife/girlfriend looks at you in "that way", and you just know you're getting lucky (assuming you don't mess it up before you can make it to the bedroom).

Or it would be like someone looking at Aregano and displaying hunger on their face. They wouldn't even have to say anything, he'd just say "yeah, I could eat...let's go get some food". : )

Yeah, good question. The post doesn't really say he actually went below deck, just that he planned to. Perhaps he's still massaging Nolan's shoulders... = )

Nah I went below deck. Something I immediately regret now because this set up is golden. Someone find an excuse to come get me - it about time I put 13 ranks in speaking to some good use.

It's very likely I might give you magical black nail polish/lipstick in the future.

Okay that has to win something right there. I laughed my ass off at that.

True enough but I'm also an egregious ass with a whole slew of personality problems - who is playing a bard in this campaign *rimshot*
