WOuld it be possible to set up polls so you can close them at a specific date and time? Sometimes I start a COTW poll n the evening, but ti would be more convenient for me if it closed in the morning instead of 7pm.
This is not a thing that is built in, and no one else seems to have made a mod for it*. It is definitely a thing we can set up, though I'm not sure when we'll be able to get to it.

I just want to rant a little, I hope that's OK.
Man do I hate the phpbb development community. There are a (very) few people who actually know what's going on and make good things; from what I can tell, all anybody else does is (a) refer you to mods that do something different from what you asked for; (b) give ridiculous, horrible workarounds; or (c) ask "why would you want to do that?" It's sickening.
Example 1: a looong time ago I asked about whether anybody had come up with a way to show the number of new/unread posts in a topic -- I think this was something Mown requested. I got two replies: one person said "You can't do that" and explained that computers aren't psychic and can't tell which posts you've actually read. The other pointed out a mod that does something completely unrelated to my question. When I pointed out that the software does have the info available (it makes the little "unread post" icon on new posts, right?) both of them disappeared.
The reason I'm ranting: I poked around looking for someone who'd done something similar to TPmanW's recent request. I mean, that's got to be a common problem, right? Nobody wants a poll timing system that's so restrictive. It turns out, yes, people had asked about this before; they were told that the best way was to go into the database and change the poll-close time by hand. What. the. hell. I mean, seriously?
Last one, I promise: when looking for an already-done implementation of a workable [table] bbcode, the most frequent advice given was to make codes for [td], [tr], etc. that just wrap the HTML equivalent. Whenever anyone pointed out that this creates an incredibly rigid system or that knowing HTML shouldn't be a prerequisite for making a goddamn table, they were told, "It works, doesn't it? What more do you want?" *sigh*
On top of all that, nobody updates their code when phpbb does, so frequently you turn up things that used to work but don't anymore, and no one is left to update it.
*deep breaths*
OK, done. Sorry. I just get like this every time I have to interact with these people.
does anyone remember that smiley that the WotC boards had where the dude was bowing and people were throwing roses? their boards are down right now so I can't get the example right now, but can we have that?

I believe there's a setting in your profile for that.

there doesn't seem to be a way to delete all PMs in a folder. best I can do is mark all, then delete marked, but that just removes the ones on the current page.

If it helps, PMs in a box (because at current you can have multiple inboxes, as it were, by setting up PM groups and rules for the bots to sort them) are automatically deleted starting at the oldest ones, excepting those marked "important", once you've reached the limit for that box (currently set at 200).
Or, in other words, you don't have to manually delete PMs unless you're really concerned with neatness.

@Welder: I read the notes in your response to my last post and now I feel sad. I feel your pain. When things don't work the way they should and nobody cares it really irks me. It's like my number 1 irk.
That said, is there a way to display the number of views a thread has gotten on the thread itself? I was looking at a thread that I found through the search function and realized that there was no way to tell the number of views the thread has gotten except to look through it in the topic listings.
*"To YMTC it up" means to design cards that have value mostly from a design perspective. i.e. you would put them in a case under glass in your living room and visitors could remark upon the wonderful design principles, with nobody ever worring if the cards are annoying/pointless/confusing in actual play
While we're on table chat, it would be great if we could have borderless tables, too. Sometimes they're just nice for aligning things, because I like to pretend I'm designing a website in 1996.
So, first off, I wanted to apologize for not getting to these sooner. My day job has been taking up a ton of time, and after spending 10+ hours a day in front of a computer it's been a bit hard to motivate myself to spend even more time staring at a screen. The end result is that things here don't get done in a timely fashion. Sorry...

Designing websites like it's 1996 is what phpbb (and by extension, us) is all about! Added a "plain" option that's used like header/sortable/etc.

Don't apologise! We're so happy to have someone so responsive and enthusiastic about our dumb feature requests. Thanks a bunch!
