I didn't say that. I said one does not have to hit every note ever to be able to sing.
No. You do, however, have to be able to sing.

In this specific branch of traditional metal, the raw unpolished quality is what contributes to their sound. The unfinished sounding mixjob, the singer, the somewhat sloppy performance, all contributes to this.
So now you're not only claiming that traditional metal isn't traditional metal, you're also claiming that the singer is intentionally sucking.

Music is more than just performance and delivery.
No, no it isn't.

No, actually. If you want technical skill, performance, and whatnot, listen to Brain Drill. They can sweep like ****, everything is crystal-clear, on-time, on-note perfect, but it's totally sterile and unlistenable.
If it's unlistenable, as you put it, they are obviously failing on some level. That's assuming, of course, you aren't confusing your opinion with fact.

But, meh, I'll stick to groups that can actually sing and play their instruments. Bizarre choice, I know, but I'm a sucker for competence.

It's not an appeal to popularity when you're sitting here going "they sky is purple with green polka dots"! And the rest of us are like "what the **** is with this dude?"

Tautology

No I'm not. Quit throwing strawmen. There are specific branches of each genre of music based on ideology, country, music scene, etc. Just like how Bay Area thrash has different musical ideologies from Teutonic thrash, Tales of Medusa and bands like Manilla Road, Virtue, etc, handle things differently from the big names like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. The raw, stripped down sound is what takes precedence here, and that includes the vocal delivery.

Just like how you're confusing your opinion here with fact, right?

Cyclone_Joker wrote:

No, because I've posted videos, reasonings, and what-have-you to prove why you are talking totally out of your ass.

If your arguments are so strong, refute the point.

Cyclone_Joker wrote:

A) I posted two actually.
B) So Black Sabbath is "generally inept"? LOL I can't take you seriously. Your opinions on music are utterly laughable.

Oh wow, a song absolutely dripping with studio effects, even though he recorded and layered his voice however many times over, cut and pasted to get the perfect take. Wow you're right that totally proves your case.

Actually, wait, no it doesn't.

Cyclone_Joker wrote:
No. I'm right because I'm right and have supported my case. All you've done is throw insults without support

Lol, keep repeating "im right cause im right lol", doesn't make your points any valid. But hey it's okay, I bet these people agree with you.

Again, strawman. Try again. Actually, wait, don't.

Because between him and I in that... well, I hesitate to call it a "debate", I wasn't the one being a raging mindless dick about music.

Because synthpop lacks any good artists. Come on, Duran Duran? Kesha? Yeah, when that's a good sampling of the genre, there's problems.

Also, I don't think I've ever heard a good voice in synthpop, which is a dealbreaker.

Except, as I've said, your statement of "everyone" was wrong, and that's a bad analogy because I'm using a thing called "Reason," something you appear to be completely unfamiliar with.

Comically missing the point.
Quote:
No I'm not.
Yes you are. That's what you said, quite explicitly. You said that the singing was "sloppy" and touted that as a merit.
Quote:
Quit throwing strawmen.
Cute try, but I'm not.

Then they're really not the same genre.
Quote:

So the **** singing makes it a **** song? I agree. Glad we're on the same page, here.
Quote:
Prove it.
Already did. But, hey, you're making the claim that music is more than sound. I'd like your proof there.
Quote:
No, because I've posted videos, reasonings, and what-have-you to prove why you are talking totally out of your ass.
In order, lulz, no you haven't, and the lack of self-awareness is hilarious.
Quote:
If your arguments are so strong, refute the point. You are like one of those old men who complain about "these guys cant sing, black sabbath? no this is noise, got-dang devils music who can listen to this its too abrasive for me".
I have. All you've done is throw insults. Which is fine, except you need to actually have an argument behind them.
Quote:
A) I posted two actually.
Two separate cases being addressed. Learn to reason.
Quote:
B) So Black Sabbath is "generally inept"? LOL I can't take you seriously. Your opinions on music are utterly laughable.
Yeah, they are. Sorry you don't like it, but it's true. They're technically unremarkable. They've got nothing except for being there early.

Quote:
Lol, keep repeating "im right cause im right lol", doesn't make your points any valid. But hey it's okay, I bet these people agree with you.
No, I'm saying I'm right because you're unable to refute anything.

Quote:
Again, strawman.
You obviously don't understand what that means.
