Hakeem - how goes testing, still undefeated? I am 22-1, still loving it, I have had a few turn 3 wins vs aggro due to rhox war monk.

My loss was to another control deck that seemed inconsistent, it was 5 colour with lots of citp lands. But was geared towards control mirrors. They drew more cards than me and eventually killed me with a huge banefire.

I think we both knew the list was amazing, the only question mark was could the mana support it. The answer is a Resounding yes.

See what I did there?

I had a really close game against mono-red that had hoplight turn one furor turn 2 and which i had to throw two shocks at around turn 3 or 4 to take down. I ended up winning though.

So far that one loss I spoke of is the ONLY one. This list is really solid. Not that the list I posted isn't too. :P

I finally lost a game (to Spider Spawning).

The fact that War Monk survives Anger is completely ridiculous.

Favorite deck ever. I forgot how much I enjoyed counterspells.

The two lists are very close, 2best, but I feel that the War Monk plan is better than leaning on Planar Cleansing. We have enough counterspells to not worry about non-creature permanents so I think being pro-active in the aggro matchup is better overall. Also, not having to lean on :w::w::w: makes the mana better.

Traumatic Visions is the card that makes this deck. Color me impressed.

I agree totally. Creatureless was a part of my aim with my build however.

Outside of that one match where the guy stole my kozie for the win, the only matches I have lost have been due to mana flood.. Getting a stroke of bad luck drawing lands in excess.

I'd rather lose to flood than screw when playing control.

I'd rather lose to screw than flood when playing aggro.

I have an unhealthy obsession with land and mana in general; it's the most important part of the game.

I just lost four games in a row to Beastmaster Ascension, all different players. Not once did I have the counterspell or the Edict. I'm going to bed in shame.

List is good. I'm not.

How about some fog-infused trolldeck ?

Draw, draw, draw.
When your walls / small creatures can't block because they're too big, fog, fog, fog.
When your opponent's board is too crowded : Cleanse !
When you have lotsa mana : BANEFIRE !
When your opponent is getting low on cards : Inspire his face !

And... recurse it all with your elixirs.

All win conditions (Elixir, Banefire) are included x2 to prevent Suffer the past shenanigans

Edit.: Might require something to deal with Kozilek, Butcher of Truth too

Monk and Hakeem, very happy to see you jam with Rhox War Monk. I jumped into UW splash green just for the card and slowly started to add red for the Ground Assaults. Good to see the mana can handle it plus Resounding Thunders too.

How can I not play a fellow monk :-)

Seriously though it fills a lot of holes in the deck. It makes aggro soooooooo much easier but also the 1 card I was losing to with previous control decks was banefire. Rhox war monk (and baneslayer) put you out of range so quickly or at least threaten to. Usually resulting I'm my opponent using the banefire on my creature.

The mana is great, there is the odd occasion that monk is a turn 5 play or that you can't cycle resounding thunder until later than you would like but the deck has plenty of ways to stall until you get there.

I am currently 31-1 with the deck and am still having fun with it. I get bored of draw-go control, especially in control mirrors but our creatures give is a good proactive plan.

A really solid deck. I personally want to squeeze in another land, but I have no idea what I'd cut. I suppose it doesn't matter to much when you get to abuse a free mulligan in this game anyways!

You get the free mulligan but also Traumatic Visions ensures that you generally keep hitting your land drops, too. I would like 26 as well, but there really isn't room.

Nice to see you make the jump over here, Brodo!

I built this deck pretty much already. :P It is in the bant. I feel I like the bonewand as the biggest wincon here. I should edit the list and make a couple minor changes to include visions.

Monkeem: might as well include Brimaz as a fourth Monk :) He kinda fits the profile: 3/4, good vs aggro...

Banefire is a good weapon to use against nasty control decks.....Rhox War Monk is a strong defense against that strategy.

I spun up a Monkeem Project part 2 the other day and have played about 8 games with it.

Initially went well winning 3 out of 3 games but lost the last 5 in a row :(

I contribute this mainly with opponent getting lucky drawing exactly what they needed (eg. sanguine bond then an 11 power suffer the past!). Not drawing the monk hurts as does not finding enough direct damage until it's too late.

Still a very fun deck though :)
