I pulled off a really effective build that plays very similar to this but also has the luxury of cleansing :D

Visions is amazing for pulling this off. But my focus colors are red/white/blue. I just have a singular forest so I can visions it for early ground assualt if I need to, or the third planes for cleansing.

If the complaint is having so many things to do and count then you should probably go back to playing Yugioh or something. This deck is brilliant. Only complaint I really have is that someone told me, "Your play style is ****ing obnoxious" and then in quotations the word "gz.." This deck I only find that I had a LOT of mana to spit out late game.. and sometimes during mid game I feel like I just way too many spells to cast and I'm holding onto 2 or 3 CS's like for 3 of 10 games. It's great having something to do other than waiting for something to counter though. I find myself just burning cards for 3 damage.. So much removal so much nullifying... Can't say anything bad. Except I lost to a goblin deck. Mostly because I probably should have mulliganed anyway.

After 15 or so games online I am happy with the current setup. Tokens seems like the toughest matchup where they don't over extend into anger. That is the main reason behind inferno titan.

My only loss was to tokens, I lost on turn 23 and went through over half my deck without finding an anger, inferno titan or runescarred demon. Any of these would have won the game.

I did have a tough game where my opponent went turn 3 brimaz into turn 4 rhox war monk. 4 toughness is definitely hard but I had void snare to buy me a turn so I could pay anger and 2 shocks.

How are people finding void snare?

The only other issue I have is playing vs opposing banefires. I have played 4 decks with ramp and banefire and have won all 4. Maybe it's just my head but being unable to counter it seems rough if you don't find obelisk plus white source.

After seeing the change to 1 Kozilek and 1 obelisk in the grixis thread, could that be the right move here. Recycling the burn spells is never bad and you still have 2 demons to tutor it?

It's probably correct just because of the versatility. Control decks love that. And he is a pretty fantastic bomb.

Just tested 3 games Kozilek finished all 3. He is a better finisher, control can't stop him and with demons you just keep getting him. Also vs aggro decks that plan
to burn you out, making them sac all of their land is just as good as gaining 5 life per turn. I just don't seem to be able to lose with this deck.

How has the Void Snare been working out? Specifically:

1) How often have you bounced a non-creature permanent?
2) How often has the one-mana cost actually been relevant?
3) Has the sorcery speed ever been a drawback?

Basically I'm wondering about Snare vs. Voyage's End.

Yes. Always run Kozilek.

Void snare has been good. The 1 mana cost has been relevant a couple of times, the first was fetching it with demon to bounce a huge chasm mycoloth and the second to bounce a sphinx bone wand then leaving visions open.

It is probably 50/50 bouncing creatures vs non creatures. Sorcery speed has never been a problem. We have so many instant speed spells to interact with our opponent.

If we were running 3 or 4 bounce spells I would still only run 1 void snare with rest being voyages end but I do think you need access to 1. It is so versatile, I even bounced my obelisk to burn my opponent for 6 in one turn to win the game the turn before I died.

That play required :u::r::r::8:! Sweet.

I'm going to give this deck some love over the weekend and report back, maybe even do a ten-game run after I get some practice with it.

These types of decks have lots of potential now with the addition of resounds, obelisk, and banefire

This is a deck I have been playing for a while revolving around the unearth ability. It's not top-tier by any means but it's pretty fun to play.

A couple of things. Shock and Assault for early control. Bident and Packleader for draw, with Dragger being able to cycle also. These 3 are great draw options with unearth.

Pelakka, Titan and Dragon are great finishers of course. One cool interaction is unearthing something and then switcheroo their best creature. Unearth exiles and they are left with nothing.

Mana base probably isn't the best on account of I'm bad at making them, but it hasn't been an issue much yet.

No Kathari Bomber since it desn't trigger packleader and the tokens aren't too useful here. The unearth is also really expensive. Had it in for a bit but it was not too great.

Open to suggestions of course! Let me know what you think!

I think you want satyr wayfinder in the deck, helps fix your mana whilst also hitting unearth guys. Garruks packleader is sweet here but I don't like Bident. Switcheroo seems a bit cute, it is at least 7 mana to pull it off with an exiled guy.

I would go

- 2 Bident
- 3 switcheroo
- 1 genesis hydra

+ 4 satyr wayfinder
+ 1 banefire

I will test it later but I think I would start here

So I've just now gotten the chance to play four games with the deck and I'm 2-2. I won a control mirror due to Thunder/Banefire and I beat a Kiln Fiend deck that hit me for seven on T3 by burning out three Fiends and a Talrand leaving him with all spells and lands. My two losses were both to a singular card - Krenko's Command. The first guy had a pair of Darksteel Axes and the second guy followed up his Command with a Sprouting Thrinax which is an absolute nightmare for this deck.

Basically, the matchup against tokens is unwinnable without Anger of the Gods because they get in underneath all the counterspells and you have to waste too many resources dealing with all the small threats. If you're playing a matchup where you can one-for-one them all day, you will almost certainly win the game but against tokens that just isn't the case.

Guard Gomazoa could shore up that weakness considerably but it just doesn't have a home here, at least from what I can see.

I have the same experience it's anger of the gods or inferno titan that clinch the match. Tokens is the only bad matchup for us but I'm not sure how to fix it.

Saying that I am 11 - 5 vs tokens. So it is not hopeless. The reason tokens are so good is the lack of answers to them.

You are right gomozoa does not belong here, tapping out on turn 3 is not good for us.

Gave it a run, and though I had intended to record my outcomes, I forgot to. I can say with certainty that I won more than I lost, and it's to tokens, as the pair of you have already noted. Anger of the Gods and Inferno Titan are absolutely required, and required quick to beat a token deck, however I've found the white mana mode of the Obelisk of Alara to be equally as useful in matches, as putting myself out of burn range can be very important, for the late game.

All in all, great deck. Probably more well rounded than the Grixis build.
