EDIT: Scavenger Drake is what I'm looking for to improve the two objectives of the deck: sacrifice engine and +1/+1 tokens spawning so it's the new version:

[manapie 90 -w -u b -r g][/manapie]

Safety web 2.0

A deck for Magic 2015.

60 Cards (24 :creature: , 13 :instant: , 23 :land:)

Cost 3 cards
■■■
Prey Upon
Cost 10 cards
■■■
Elvish Visionary1/1
■■■■
Satyr Wayfinder1/1
■■■
Treasured Find
Cost 10 cards
■■■■
Bloodflow Connoisseur1/1
■■■
Necromancer's Assistant3/1
■■■
Phyrexian Rager2/2
■■■■
Cultivate
Cost 4 cards
■■■
Scavenger Drake1/1
Vengevine4/3
Cost 7 cards
Indulgent Tormentor5/3
Shadowborn Demon5/6
■■
Doubling Season
■■■
Spider Spawning
Cost 3 cards
■■■
Nemesis of Mortals5/5
Land23 cards
■■■■
Golgari Guildgate
11
Forest
10
Swamp

The interaction between Scavenger Drake, Bloodflow Connoisseur, a lot of spiders and Doubling season is remarkable and it allows many interesting trade-offs (1 sacrificed creature of power 1 like a spider token or Elvish Visionary can yield Nx1 power back, depending on number of doubling season/scavenger drake/bloodfire connoisseur out, so it acts like a power amplifier).

From the previous version, I've removed 2x Rescue from the underworld/-1 Land to add 3 Prey Upon to defend myself in the first turns against aggro deck, then Rescue from the underworld is too slow/useless for this deck (not so many big drops to rescue) and becomes redundant with 3xTresaure Find.
Therefore Nemesis of Mortals can become a 10/10, 15/15, 25/25 so it's a perfect target for Prey Upon and Prey Upon itself can be useful to populate the graveyard too.

Maybe I can lower the land a little more, from 23 to 22 because I'd like to add an other creature but maybe it's a bit risky.

Thanks Stevo, I haven't tested online yet due to the bug, my main thought process was that beastmaster's ascension or elder are my main plan, mycoloth is just the back up plan. That is why I had 1. I may replace pharika's chosen with the extra mycoloth

I've actually completely replaced Elders with Mycoloths in my SS deck. The reasoning being both require lots of other creatures to function, but the Mycoloth will always trigger Beastmaster if it resolves, while the Elder is more an alternate win-con to Beastmaster.

Sure, one is 3 mana and the other 5, but the Elder may as well be a 4 mana creature. I never use it to attack or block really, but just for the ability. Again, as it's only useful if you have a large field, I'd rather Mycoloth them instead (deck I'm facing permitting, so maybe not all of them) and start generating tokens and go for an overrun strategy instead that allows my mana to stay free and still work towards SS too.

Reading "Overrun" just made me want to jam Mycoloth in a deck with Ogre Battledriver. Naya tokens? Hrrrm. That could be my first expansion project!

I very rarely get smashed to pieces in a game due to a great play, more often just to poor draws, but I will give one guy his dues for a recent set of plays I didn't anticipate, or could really stop.

Turn 4 Battledriver, Turn 5 Doubling Season. Turn 6 Triplicate Spirits - 6 x 3/1 fliers out of nowhere. Absolutely brutal.

That's where my mind was at, plus you get eight two-mana token generation spells for early aggression or defence (matchup dependent) along with Rabblemaster and Brimaz. Doubling Season and Triplicate Spirits are auto-includes, too. That's what I'll be brewing tonight, I think.

:( I do not like griselbrand in a deck with no ramp, and I don't like vengevine in general, but otherwise it looks fine.

that deck looks primed and ready for Rescue From the Underworld, which i've found invaluable in my Spider deck.

I started with all three and eventually cut them all over time. It's a lot of mana to keep open and it's not that much better than Treasured Find, really. At least not from my experience.

Could gy bounce a mycoloth to cannibalize it's own babies for an even bigger baby maker. I'd leave some alive of course to be safe

How have Pellaka wurm, runescarred and Griselbrand been in this deck. Seems slow without cultivate/ rescue from the underworld.

Really good, the deck hardly ever misses a land drop and has plenty of cheap creatures who love to trade or chump to build up the Spider wall. Sometimes you don't need the Spiders, though, because you just beat them up with big dudes instead.

Viscera Dragger fits perfectly in this type of deck, I'll try it immediately (1- Prey Upon/-1 Scavenger Drake/+2 Viscera Dragger). I remain perplex about Graveborn Muse usefulness, too few zombies and I prefer as 4-drop a couple of Scavenger Drake that be able to become a flying fortress after few turns in this type of deck. Mycoloth is a strong temptation, considering that I use 2xDoubling season, but at now I don't find any solution to put in my deck.

On its own, the Muse nets you an extra card every single turn. Outdrawing your opponent two to one is one of the easiest ways to win at Magic.

i think Graveborn Muse gets in any serious golgari spider deck. really terrific card, much better than Indulgent Tormentor.

It's a card I don't often see online, likely due to its premium status. I'm glad that the premiums are free to everyone now because it should mean the power level of opposing decks will go up and I can get some more accurate testing done with my own builds.

This is more or less my cut of the golgari spider spawning deck seen in this thread numerous times

As Above So Below
(1)
None
(2)
4 x Elvish Visionary
4 x Satyr Wayfinder
3 x Treasured Find
(3)
4 x Necromancer's Assistant
1 x Beastmaster Ascension
3 x Cultivate
(4)
2 x Graveborn Muse
(5)
1 x Shadowborn Demon
3 x Rescue from the Underworld
1 x Mycoloth
3 x Spider Spawning
(6)
2 x Nemesis of Mortals
(7)
2 x Rune-Scarred Demon
3 x Pelakka Wurm

8 x Swamp
12 x Forest
4 x Golgari Guildgate

Nothing particularly special or unique about the build except the two notable one-ofs Mycoloth and Beastmaster Ascension the reason being for this is quite simply our five ways to fish for these cards when needed

In case of a stalemate I've taken to sacing the Mycoloth for rescue so he can eat his own babies upon reappearing hopefully overwhelming my opponent in the following turns
