Well, depending on the RP... Terek is quite capable of simply meeting the others at the docks. Though the whole fire and brimstone craziness does lead him to be a bit wary. Haha.

If you just want to wait it out at a different tavern, it's OK, or you can come back as you wish. Up to you...

Just making sure you realized that your 21 Will save beat the Illusion's DC of 18. Unless Terek's just fake-acting like he believes it.

Its not a matter of being in a building that was caught on fire. Its a matter of knowing not to be in a building with someone who casually pretends to set a room full of people on fire. ;)

Logic!! =P

We'll see how the RP turns out and as to whether I end up actually leaving the place. I still have clipper to watch, and may accidentally stumble upon Lug, etc.

Touché, BH.

AA: Let me know when Strom actually makes it to the back room. Nvm, I'm paying attention, for real.

Sorry if I'm holding up your RP again, though I think we should be able to do them simultaneously.

You should be in the back chatting while I'm up front with clipper. So i think we're good.

Normally, I would totally have rolled a Diplomacy check somewhere in that last post, but I'm keeping it to the text ^_^

I feel like I've made Umiki appear a little paranoid; I won't be playing her as such the whole game. I just feel that if she's prepping to depart without being noticed, she'd take more precautions than usual tonight.

No worries. One of the last players that did this run stuttered and had severe confidence issues, so neuroses are just part of the scenery. It doesn't bother me that your character isn't a paper-thin Dirk the Daring. You guys are just getting into the characters, and I like that. It's fun to interact with.

I'll take it that Strom fulfills his word on Umiki being able to depart unseen. I won't slow things down making my way out of the tavern, just a little fun description; I'll make my way to Noot.

If I moved too fast, I can edit out anything you need me to. It remains Umiki's intent to not be seen leaving this city, after coming into the port town unshrouded.

Oh, just kill this character now, what's that — five straight rolls under a natural 5?

Umiki's goal: 'Try not to be seen leaving this city. Don't let there be any witnesses and only draw minimal attention to yourself.'
Stupid Angel: "HEY, YOU'RE INVISIBLE!"
Ugh :V

Don't worry, in the Middle Earth adventure I ran, I had an NPC Paladin that probably failed 75% of his saving throws, to include a save versus fear when going against Yuan-ti. Had the spend the battle cowering in fear (keep in mind, he was supposed to be the tank). Fortunately, most characters can survive a bad string of rolls. Just keep plugging along.

As for the Avarial elf...c'mon...tell me you didn't honestly think a war ship would allow someone invisible to just waltz up onto the deck unchallenged, right? Silly Rabbit...

Yeah, I'm rolling with the punches from Fate. At least I've been rolling low on things that I have purposely boosted to somewhat oversized bonuses. Rather than, say, rolling a 3 on an attack and getting absolutely nowhere, haha. I'm counting my lucky stars this is a 3e game and not 4e, and I still have the opportunity to focus rather well into something, such that my bonus can still improve a low roll by an order of magnitude.

Yeah, I totally thought I was going to be challenged. I just found it hilarious that it was done in such a way that is practically the most extremely opposite to Umiki's goals

If she were an anime character, the sweatdrop would be magnificent.

Well, even a single person can commit group think by assuming every one else thinks like them, even a budding world hero!

So I did some research on commonly used things you can do with Ghost Sound, and it does not mention "pre-programming" a message so that you can concentrate on a silent image. You're thinking about what you're saying, or what your image is doing, not both at the same time. There is one scenario where you might be able to pull things off, by moving your body in the same manner as you intend for your image to do, while you actively think about what your Ghost Sound is going to "say". We move and talk at the same time naturally, so I could see that working, possibly. But we do it naturally without thinking just because it's us. To concentrate to maintain a spell (or two) is a different thing. Also, in this case, you'd have to have a silent image where the image's mouth is covered by a cloth, cowel, etc., because there'd be no way to sync up the lips while you're thinking about a silent image to maintain it. Even with all of this considered, you'd need to do a performance check and concentration check for it to be believable and not look like a Chucky Cheese animatronic character, and the DCs would have to be pretty high, say 30 for both. Not anyone should be able to pull this off all the time, and only after attaining some levels to model getting more practiced as you go. In reality, I should just rule that you can only concentrate on one spell at a time, but I'm a sucker for innovation, and the kinesthetic movement to lead your mind to control the one spell passively, while more actively thinking about the noise is a cool idea, but it at a minimum needs a skill check to pull off at least to keep you from raping it.

Finally, that wasn't what you were really going for, and I haven't responded yet IC, so feel free to revise your post if you wish. If you still want to have the image talk, then roll a Perform check, and a Concentration check with a DC of 30 on both, and think about how your illusory character is going to avoid lip syncing issues.

From my understanding of Ghost Sound in 3.0, it isn't a Concentration spell, and though it can be dismissed early, you can't concentrate on it while it's occurring; it's preprogrammed only. It casts at 1 action, and lasts for 1 round/caster level.

Here's where I'm getting it from, which matches the 3.0 PHB description from page 209. Particularly these two lines:

"Thus, talking, singing, shouting, walking, marching, or running sounds can be created."
"Note: Ghost sound can enhance the effectiveness of a silent image spell."

The note is where I got the idea, and my intent was to create a talking sound. I will understand if you rule that I can't create a "message" and that I can only create an unintelligible "talking" sound, like a "Lorem Ipsum" but with word-like sounds (rather than word-like text).

Though, I was pretty much operating under the impression that I could only concentrate on one spell at a time.

However, I will automatically fail a Perform check of 30; I simply don't have a bonus high enough to accomplish that. Would I be able to substitute a Spellcraft check in order to accomplish the "preprogramming" of the Ghost Sound to an intelligible message?
