Why work towards more trouble for ourselves? I'm mean I don't want to have the trouble of a murder charge on my character's hands. Might as well be "Merciful"

...so I'm going to be honest with people. I have no idea where I'm taking this story right now. Literally none. Just throwing that out there in case people have thought I've forgot about this or something.

:wha:

I'm riding North, circling Amarath. I don't care if you have no pre-planned notion of where to take the story, but I DO expect some kind of description of what I encounter as I ride North. I obviously can't just make up what I encounter for myself (that's the DM's job).

On that note I thought you all agreed to head west to Greenton?

Yes, but I don't plan on taking the most direct route to get there. Direct routes are just asking for ambush parties. I'm going North a ways first and then heading West.

Right fair enough. I was wondering when you first posted that.

Now the question is - with the group being as small as it is and BH basically being MIA for a little while do you want to continue or put the game on temporary hiatus. I'd kinda like to start rolling again when everyone is ready to go rather then dragging around another silent quasi-NPC (no offense Shock). Thoughts?

None taken. I'll say I'm up for a temporary hold if that's how you want to do this. Plus gives you some time to develope the story further.

Thoughts Zinger and Lazymarine?

I'm against the temp hold, but if everyone votes it I'll go along with it.

I really like roleplaying Kronos though. :(

I'd really rather press West and get to the next city as fast as able rather than going on some round about circle to the North. Both as a player and a character.

As far as a pause goes... well, I've been suggesting implementing new players for a while now, a few times. Bringing them in once we got to the next city or something as we make contacts and start quest arcs from there. I know having more people slows down PBP by quite a bit but I'd much prefer it to the two, sometimes three, people playing that we've had since about July now. Technically our group is what six or seven people? And of that it's basically Jastor and Kronos taking actions and most everyone else sorta tagging along.

Don't get me wrong, I love the setting and after some minor tweaks I think I can get the character back on track to where I want him, but we're quickly approaching the point of six months of painfully slow progression that's been sorta...boring. And to be brutally honest, now that we're out of the city, him finding it excruciatingly hard to find reasons Jastor would continue to be in the party. As mentioned I know Valenthal at least has a common goal but we havent roll played that out yet... and at every turn Kronos continues to be someone that Jastor would simply let ride north never to be seen again and then jump on a horse and head to the next city.

I dunno.

Yeah I fully understand what your saying here. Kinda my bad in that regard. Truth be told I've pretty much just been running this campaign by the seat of my pants - nothing was really planned outside of a very basic overview. Even most of the places you've encountered or heard of we're just lifted from other stuff. Of course that now leads us to a point where we have characters who have no reason to stick together, no overall objective to complete and a world that extends about a mile from Amarath's walls before ceasing to exist. Guess I should have chose between a sandbox setting or an evil campaign huh? Doing both at once just seems to have led us to this point - standing around for months doing nothing.

Honestly at this point I'm kinda thinking of shelving the campaign.

I honestly dont mind the sandbox aspect; I have a general goal, some ideas of how I'd like to get there, and a general plan...starting with heading to that next city and trying to make contacts etc.

My main main disconnects lie with the party. I'm partially responsible I suppose cause Jastor came out the gate as sort of a prick, cause he is, but yeah. I dont even remember the names of half the hirelings in the group except for Zinger's cause he mentions her in most of his posts. I dont even remember what race they are or know what any of them look like because aside from a few things in combat all the cohorts have been basically background props. Even as much as I see that Zinger's is doing something I still dont know what she looks like or what her personality is besides a puppy that follows Kronos around.

And then of course the actually player characters, like I mentioned above, havent really meshed in any sort of way yet. Kronos seems to have his own goals and no desire to anything with the group, Garnet was very lone wolfish but now isnt even around,

Eeek ... time to go to work. Will finish later.

@BH, I threw you a bone and offered Jastor to lead, saying Kronos would follow. When nothing happened for a week I finally decided to take the lead myself.

At the end of the day, responsibility for findig reasons to get along is everyone's. It's not strictly up to me to create a motivation for your character to like mine. In fact, you seem to keep looking for reasons to hate on Kronos. Make up some arbitrary reason why Jastor might start to like the guy and stick with it. Look for an excuse to get along. Once you've found even just one, expand upon it and go from there. Don't sit back and wait for me to provide that motivation for you. You'll be waiting a long time if you do. It's up to you to decide how you want Jastor to get along with his compatriots.

I mean, I'm offering you an ally on a silver plater and your response is "why should I?" That's not very helpful.

@Garren, there's plenty of online dungeons to choose from. A dungeon helps build character and paarty cooperation. Plus, it usually will take a while to clear in PBP. That would give you the time to get your **** together in terms of the campaign. Unless you just have no desire to run it anymore. Bounty Hunter is right though, we need some fresh blood in the group.

But let's do something. I feel right now like I'm the only one sitting here who wants to keep moving forward with this right now.

Except I wasnt talking about the group liking one another I was talking about the group having reasons to be a group in the first place. We banded together to escape the city and now we have done so theres not much of a reason to remain a group save for 'safety in numbers'. Hence trying to have a mature conversations about people character goals and pushing for people to give more an an insight into what they wanted and what their character would have as a reason for remaining in "The Currently Unnamed Survivors of Amarath".

I wasnt hating on Kronos, simply mentioning that thus far his goals and personality dont really hold any reason for him to remain with the people that have already been chaffed by his personality. And in your own words he's neutral towards the group at best, so like I said his current motivation to be with the party is the prophecy that the group is somehow important. Additionally, every time something comes up, his go to response is "Wait right here, I'll be back" then he goes off and does his own thing for a bit and comes back... like with One Eye or the stables etc.

I honestly dont care if the party likes each other. Its not needed in a good party let alone in an evil one, members can see each other simply as means to an end and it still works fine. But the group should have some sort of reasons to want to be together so I was trying to find those reasons for both Alladar and Kronos. Alladar has just not been at the center of attention enough for me to know what his goals and motivations are, we've roleplayed back and forth and him and Jastor have more or less put aside the argument from the start of the game. And well, I've already said my piece on Kronos.

I have no idea what this is in reference to or response to.

Ask Garren to run Kronos a solo campaign in his world.

Hey, Zinger, not trying to crush Kronos developing, I'm just not sure what can be done when the DM (or Pathfinder equivilent). But as far as maybe getting something going, hope we do run into something along the road, or trail, to the next place.

Could be convinced to go along for whatever ride is going on.

...You know, could take a page out of Squinty's Sandbox and have character's rotate in and out from time to time. Could write in a temporary split?

What do you want to do, BH? Shockwave?

Are we done with this game? Is that the consensus?

I want it to keep going, but when part of the party falls silent as well as the DM...

Guess I could try to stir something up in character, but not sure what to do.
