Hey. Hey. Just realised this right now. When Vaeca turns to a Moon Druid at lvl 2 he can totally wildshape into a bugbear (CR1) now after having such a personal experience. Right. Right?

Haha. I don't have the full PHB so can't re-read the Druid class. Can't remember the exact terminology for wildshape. Just know for Moon Druid at lvl 2 can wildshape into something of CR1.

Also, in the basic DM guide Bugbears are between Brown Bears and Camels.

Yeah it's any 'Beast' or CR 1 with no Fly or Swim speed. The most impressive ones probably being Dire Wolf, Giant Spider, Lion and Tiger. Though you could always turn into a warhorse and carry the others into battle.

...wait Giant Spider? With the 30ft climb speed and web-spinning and poisoned bite and all that. Wow. That's pretty nice.

Yeah Brown Bear, dire Wolf, Tiger and Lion are all pretty good in different ways. And spider and other ones which are not necessarily solid attack based, but have helpful skills.
Wanted to go over a bit of Vaeca's background with you at some point. Just to narrow down where he actually grew up and spent his hermit years so he was familiar with certain animals. Or at least have you approve certain ones that he would be familiar with.

Have the panther in the backstory, but maybe beasts which are kinda forest/woods related? Thinking probably somewhere not that far from Neverwinter area, or at least the north west area, down the sword coast and inland kinda. No biggie at the moment but something to think about!

I like the idea of a warhorse though! Or something similar carrying one or a couple of the others.

Question: Have we received experience for the fights we've been in or is that coming later?

DUring this first stage of the journey you'll be getting EXP on a milestone system - after that it will switch to a by kill basis. I have no idea why it does this to be honest. Suffice to say clearing the cave will grant you enough EXP to level.

Until Vaeca regain his credibility with Sandal, lots and lots of atonement, all Sandal's beneficial spells are useless on Vaeca and all area spells will treat him as an enemy. You got what you asked for.

I took the liberty of arranging your characters a little before the battle starts - mostly to reflect your moving around and such between the last fight. If anyone has any real problem with where they are placed feel free to say so.

Also for the record the areas of darker colour in the dam room are poorly illuminated - no convenient fire to light the room this time.
