For what it's worth I probably forgot to mention he was gone too. I tend to forget the mooks exist. Case in point Vanya having done/said nothing since we left the tunnels.

Oh hey, Shockwave is back.

Just when I was showing up to say that I wasn't going to be around much for the next month. :/

Deserve what? It wasn't meant as a put down or something...

Basically just sucks that finally another player shows back up and now I'm gonna be barely around. I was getting tired of it just being the adventures of Jastor and Kronos.

Oh and BH, wasn't trying to say what you said was bad. Kind of feeling guilty for being gone as long as I was, a good portion of it without notice. Also hope you have a safe trip back to the US when that starts.

Just out of pure curiosity, what sort of marks and such do the horses bare that would lead me to believe they were of the same company.

Do the saddles have a logo, are the horses branded, etc? If so, what does it look like?

It's a recurring pattern on the saddles and the like like - a pair of crossed swords. Nothing particularly unique about it but enough to tie the horses together. You'd guess from some mercenary company or adventurers guild or some such.

Dont mind me, that sort of thing is something that makes BH go "Hmm now think of a adventuring company name based off the emblems"

"Yes sir, we did clear the cave, go ahead and check it out while we guard the entrance," turns and does a brief slasher smile to his teammates.

Well I still havent been able to think up a group name but currently we're still not much of a group when you think about it.

-Jastor is developing a drive for revenge but that may deepen or change as the story moves.
-Kronos wants power and imortality for himself, unless things have changed since character creation.

I honestly dont know what's driving Valenthal or Alladar.

Anyone have ideas on how to make the group more chummy?

Valenthal's current motivation is that he feels his inheritance has been stolen, along with any chance to move up through society. That and seeing the city he grew up in void of life angers him.

As far as more chummy goes, not sure yet. But we still have the common enemy angle to play off of for now.

On the common enemy angle:

Jastor and Valenthals goals are similiar and they habe a common goal. Im not sure if Kronos shares that view though, or if even has reason to stay with the group. Theres his prophecy that we're all important, so there moght be an angle there.

Alladar hates Jastor less, not sure to what extent hes feeling a fellowship though.

Kronos is basically immortal. When you get to be his age, the same things that interested you once upon a time no longer do. Now he is mostly interested in solving riddles and understanding everything around him. Levelling up and acquiring more power would be less interesting than, say, witnessing such historical events as, say, the sinking of Atlantis.

Of course, levelling up and acquiring more power is a means to an end. He sees knowledge as the ultimate power. He wants to understand everything, and with his lifespan being what it is, that's actually a goal that isn't beyond his grasp.

The prophecy and the events surrounding the fall of Amarath are chiefly of interest to him right now, and probably will continue to be so until he has solved this mystery. He's not particularly fond of all of your characters, but he IS intrigued by them. Nothing about this seemingly random group of ragtag adventurers seems overly special or important...so why, then, do they appear to be of pivotal importance in his visions? Clearly there is something about you guys that he is missing, which is a prime motivating factor in keeping you around right now.

Also, although he is Neutral Evil, Kronos isn't particularly fond of violence. He's also fairly refined and not really as vicious as his alignment might have you believe. Contrary to what you might think, Kronos has the capacity to be amicable with your characters without having need for a reason to be so. Basically, what I am getting at is, he doesn't really need that strong of a reason to justify not killing you and stealing your loot, cuz he's not that type of character. Of course, if you tell him that inside your spleen contains the secrets of the universe (and you succeed your bluff check), he'd have no qualms about removing your spleen and verifying such claims, which is where the Evil in his alignment shows it's true colours. But in day-to-day interactions, Kronos can be downright pleasant. Heck, he could probably pass for true Neutral easily enough as opposed to Neutral Evil, if he really wanted to.

It's always nice to see evil characters with decent motivations, ideals and goals. I've always hated the idea taht evil automatically means crude and dumb and violent - which is a real shame since that seem to be the default more often then not in a lot of RPG's (D&D especially). The answer to 'Why did you burn down that village' should never be 'because I could' - that's just lazy writing. Yes there is a place for violent brutes but they are not villains. There minions, the servants of true villains, at best.

Every villain should have a solid motivation and his actions should be in service of that. Any villain who goes around brutally murdering without rhyme or reason is just hurting himself - unless your motivation is to get a group of paladins kicking you to death in a ditch. Then you're on the right track.
