I can't open the "Uncommon (13)" spoiler block, inside the "Colorless (18)" spoiler block, for some reason.

This is a weird artifact of bbcode parsing -- after Rooted Powerstone in the previous spoiler, there's a [b] that should be a [/b]. I think that fixing that will fix the spoiler-opening problem as well.

FINALLY.

I was not sure where to ask about this, but I'm getting 503 errors all ove the place, and it's the site not anything else on my browser. Basically I have to run 4 pages of the thread now because it's a crapshoot whether any link will 503 or not, and I wanted to ask what is causing it.

yeah I've been having server issues as well. not as bad as jack's but things will suddenly, randomly get super-slow for a long time. I get 503'd occasionally but I can mostly make it through, it can just be super slow.

I...haven't had any issues at all. So I'm not sure it's something server-side.

I've done numerous google tests and went to other websites at the same time and had no issue, it's definitely specific to NGA.

^^ It's better now but when it was happening the same. If the actual literal website is the only thing acting up, and everything else is running at 5 to 6 times the speed, the website is the problem.

It was definitely the website. I can't really do much while stuck at work (silly locked-down internet) but when I got out the server's load averages were comfortably above 40, which is extremely high and will definitely result in slow-downs.

The worst part is, it wasn't even our fault -- NGA lives in a shared hosting environment where a bunch of sites all share resources, and someone else was eating up all the server's resources. Given that this has happened a number of times before, I'll definitely be looking into alternative hosting options.

Also, this seems a fine time to mention that on this Saturday, November 8, the hosting provider will be updating the server NGA lives on, which will likely result in about an hour of downtime. So don't panic, please.

So I understand why we experience mega slow-down every now and again but can anyone confirm if it's happening like right now? It just took me like 40 mins to make 5 posts - assuming the thing doesn't just crash.

So.

I was not sufficiently paranoid about the site being mega slow, and I lost a big post. And I am not happy with that.

It's going from "minor annoyance" to I have to back up everything I type to my computer's clipboard out of sheer paranoia now and there's only like a 1/3 to 2/3 chance any particular page will open at this point in time.



So yes. Mr Windspear I would say I am experiencing the same thing you are.

Oh, and I am also experiencing the avatars on the left side of the screen occassionally bugging out. You know the class green and white page in the middle of a blank field that means it's trying to display a picture from our current auto-card site but Jack spelled it wrong so it won't load? Yeah that's showing up occassionally as the freaking avatar of everyone and I think it has to do with the slowness.

I talked to Dreamhost support about the slowness yesterday; they suggested it was largely our fault and blamed Wordpress (which we aren't running anywhere). Which is frustrating.

I've suggested a thing we could do to the other staff members and am waiting for feedback now (HINT HINT ).
