Hey everyone! After some extensive testing, I decided to post an Abzan deck that I came up with lately.
The deck plays really smooth and is very strong 1v1, because of:
■ the early blockers which recycle themselves and aren't a bad draw late in the game, additionally they help to survive aggro -
Elvish Visionnary,
Phyrexian Rager■ the ramp -
Cultivate,
Satyr Wayfinder,
■ recycle option with
Treasured Find■ tutoring thanks to
Rune-Scarred Demon■ removal -
Shadowborn Demon,
Planar Cleansing,
Angelic Edict (useful against enchant decks and indestructible creatures)
■ ETB Effects - all of the above mentioned and
Pelakka Wurm for lifegain
■
Cloudshift- which let's you abuse ETB even more, good synergy with
Pelakka Wurm,
Rune-Scarred Demon,
Shadowborn Demon. You can use it for whatever you need, additional draw, removal, life gain, tutoring.
■ a lot of draw, which I love
Thanks to
Rune-Scarred Demon and
Treasured Find you multiply the number of copies of for example
Angelic Edict. You can get it on demand with RSC, and then when needed get it out of the grave again and recast it. Then
Cloudshift Rune-Scarred Demon to get the 2nd copy or a
Treasured Find and cast the
Angelic Edict again. Theoretically
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth allows you to get all the cards (except those exiled like
Treasured Find) back into your library and tutor for them once more.
I use
Phyrexian Rager instead of
Wall of Omens because rager doesn't have defender and is able to actually scare attack off or kill something instead of just blocking. The life loss doesn't matter because you have so many possibilities to get
Pelakka Wurm into play and then
Cloudshift it.
Cloudshift allows for a lot of nice plays like attacking with something big with ETB, and then shifting it, gaining the ETB effect again and blocking unexpectedly.
Cloudshift is also a great way of protecting your big creatures against removal or when it gets blocked and debuffed like
Ulcerate
