For clarity's sake, my strategy with the main index of the archive has been to add people to the main index and give them pages of their own if they A. occur in two or more stories and B. appear in works that otherwise would not be findable directly from the index except by way of "Other Stories" OR C. are Jackie OR D. have a dossier.

"Well, when you put it like that, it sounds different," Jackie said. "You know how to make a woman feel special, Keeper."

What happened to the rough list someone put together a while back of other significant implied canon characters? Some of that info might be available for copying and pasting.
I have those lists and I will use them. Hopefully I have time right now.

I started it, but there wasn't much info gathering help so I got exhausted filling it out. I'll bump the thread.

So, Raiker has a PAGE but not a DOSSIER because he fulfills both conditions A. and B. despite failing D. (And C. obviously.)

Or DOES he fail at C.? Huh? Think about that! Have you ever seen them in the same place at the same time?!?

I've added a bunch of info to the elevator page, but I was unsure whether I should add every non-'walker character from the thread Tev started, or characters like "the blue esperite girl" who don't even have names and are dead now.

I wanted to add color mana symbols to the planeswalkers (and maybe planes of the Wheel and continents of Sertaria), but don't know the code for pasting them.

You add mana symbols by the syntax {#mana:rgwub}. I'm pretty sure I'm remembering that right. Else it's {{ }} rather than { }

Yeah, I pretty much used the same logic in making my Archive map; using my 3-pound biological connection-making machine to predictively assess the importance of any given character or world when they do not have separate write-ups. More weight was obviously assigned to named planes and planeswalkers over unknowns or natives, respectively.

Not that it's serving me that well anymore -_-
I think plugging all the map information into a spreadsheet (as long as it's sortable and/or searchable) is the most logical step at this point. I can even plug in every lesser, dead, or planar-bound character or plane or artifact or whatever into the thing.

Once again I wish I had better javascript knowledge, as I feel like there should be some way to translate a spreadsheet into an actual chart but I have no idea where I'd even begin with that tbh. :/

I would not ever use a spreadsheet version of the map though. It wouldn't make sense in my brain. I'm a visual learner.

Hm... maybe I could find something that would do that, or create my own...? I mean, it's not like I know any coding languages, but I don't think it would be too difficult, considering I caught on the the Random Generator's code without help by just looking at the syntax.

It's just becoming rather difficult to add points or connections to the Archive map, and still have it easily understandable. The connection lines are crossing each other more and more often, and some are connecting points that are so far apart that it's complicating things. When some major interaction from across the map (like, say, Raleris meeting Daneera) happens, I'll pretty much have to abandon the map as I've been building it.

Ideally, I would like something like this: viewers are presented with a single point with some basic information from the work or dossier, and then are able to click on various arrows that represent the various connections. For instance, let's say you started at Jakkard. You could be presented with the information: it's a plane; races present; notable natives; the number of works that have been written about it; etc. Each work would also be presented as an arrow (or clickable element, at the least) that takes you to that work, which in turn has some basic information (like all named characters and planes presented) and more arrows/clickable elements which take you to other sections. I'm not entirely sure how to present the map as a whole in this hypothetical, because obviously you'll need a way to switch between clusters (like from our main cluster to the Molcru, Raiker, or Zhiran clusters)

Well the Raiker cluster will be linked as soon as we revise and put the Jade story up for vote.

As a side note of this, I will say that, in the past, I have oft considered composing a quick and dirty list of tropes to consult for whomever wishes to use my characters.
