In this thread, we're going to suggest changes for Starstill based on the experiences we've had in playtesting. Which changes we go forward with and which we don't will be determined by general consensus in this thread, rather than official voting.

It seems like red doesn't have a hard removal spell at common like Turn to Slag, which would go a long way toward solving the problem. I recommend putting it in over Hellish Sandstorm.

Hello World also commented that there was too much fixing in a non-multicolor set. Grovecaller Ouphe, Viashino Suncaller, Abundant Growth, and Loamblood Druid are all rainbow fixers. We should think about restricting some of these to Forests or green mana only.

I've already suggested some numbers tweaks:
Bahraz the Tyrant

Planeswalker - Bahraz (M)


Each opponent loses 2 life. You gain life equal to the life lost this way.
Destroy all creatures with converted mana cost less than the number of loyalty counters on Bahraz the Tyrant.
As long as there are ten or more loyalty counters on Bahraz, he's a 20/20 God creature with protection from everything in addition to his other types.

The only way green can survive at the moment is to splash other colors. Im playing GRU.... and I can only agro play and combo.... I cant wait to build up my big creatures coz of all the creature hate.

There is a slight issue with Restoration Spirit, the way it is worded at the moment, you can return a Land from the graveyard. Newer players might think that you can play one land from your hand and another with Restoration Spirit. There are two ways t fix this.... make Restoration Spirit only return non land permanent or have a rule text saying "One Land can still only be played a turn."

I know how to add card images to Cockatrice, but I intend to eventually add Starstill to NGA Constructed, which has thousands of cards without images. It would be incongruous to have some cards in the plugin with images and others without.

I read that post and I didn't find it really told me how to add images. It mentions a tag you can use in the xml, but not what that tag was. <image>?

I wrote something about white in the sealed/draft thread, I'll try to do the other colors later today.
I'm not a fan of what some charms do at common since they add a lot of board complexity, maybe we can make them a cycle of enchantments with oblation?

Problems and proposed solutions:

Bahraz's Steed and Frsotblight Shadowwalker compete for space. Identical stats, similar protection abilities, similar costs.
-Cut one.

We have 11 cards that cost .
-Cut/enlarge three or so of them.

Spark Of Imagination can hardly cast anything.
-I recommend letting it hit higher casting cost cards. Possibly recost to compensate.
-Alternatively add a good one drop red instant/sorcery.

Lack of large creatures. This is undermining several arrhetypes and letting others get out of control.
-Apply serious steroids to two or three rare creatures.

Reification Of Elori is too weak.
-Make it a six drop as a 5/5.

Gleam Collector's haste is pontless. You'd hardly ever want to attack with it first turn.
-Swapping haste out for intimidate or a lower cost.

Knifetail Ambush and Raid the Ruins are uncomfortably similar.
-Cut one.

Weird I trought there was a ramp deck focusing on reification and will of makara to outlast the opponent with gigantic mana dorks.
You guys are gettiing kinda close to miserable to play against in limited with those two cards.

Looking at starstill com

Consortium engineer and sneaky gadgerer are both 2/1 for :1::u: that are conditionally unblockable, maybe move one up in cost and stats?

Turn back at common scares me, but whatever.

Blue draws and filters a lot.

Bombs are bomby.

Student of finality screams rare.

What CKY said about hellish snowstorm.

Storm volley can probably lose the red restriction, the second :r: or switch back to be until the end of turn now.
Groveskipper ouphe doesn't feel common.

Snapping land wurm feels common

I don't get crushtread sage,or maybe I do?dun-dun-dun.

Lifeblood of maraka costs really little for what it does.

Druid herloom is really strong for common, viashino warwagon too, may I suggest making it a 3/3 haste? It even makes the drawback more drawbacky.
Blade of ispiration is REALLY generous, has anybody tried it in constructed?
Coldmetal coat is pretty strong too.
Shatterspear insigna doesn't feel rare.
Forgotten library is scary at common, do we really want players to find their bombs this much?
The spires are costed aggressively too.

I agree with Hello World on all counts, even the bits that aren't suggestions. Except maybe the Sandwurm going common. Kind of indifferent there.

Suggestions:

Cut Frostblight Shadow-walker
Make Student Of Finality a rare.

Cut Raid the Ruins
Let Spark of Imagination cast red instants or sorceries with converted mana cost two or less.
Gleam collector drop haste, add intimidate.

Make Hellish Snowstorm uncommon.

I think Adaptive Yeti was supposed to have trample.
Change Gift of Maraka's bonus from +2/+2 to +1/+1. Change cost to .

Add to the activation cost of Manufactory.
Make Forgotten Library's activation cost instead of .

Viashino WarWagon common -> uncommon
Blade Of Inspiration. Change stat boost from +2/+2 to +2/+0
Druid's Heirloom up cost to
Coldmetal Coat lower cost to and lower bonus to +0/+2.
Instead of lower rarity. Have Shatterpsear Insignia give +1/+0.
Bumpe Archamge's Staff down to uncommon.


We could use hexproof on one of our big green critters but I'm having trouble deciding which. Tyrant Wurm?

I'm good with all these. Archmage's Staff was actually submitted as an uncommon IIRC, but I bumped it up to rare because I thought it made sense there. So bumping it back down would make sense.

Also, it's been weeks and I've only played one game of Starstill, with Knifethrower. And that was a Limited game. If anyone can play Constructed with me, please shoot me a PM.

CKY's suggested nerf to Bahraz makes him feel lame. I think if we changed his starting loyalty to 3 that would be enough of a nerf.

My only problem is that the -0 seems oppressive, maybe add a then remove two loyalty counters from brahaz at the end of it.
