Okay, so a bit more detail for my need of suggestions.
I'll watch just about anything, but I love love LOVE mecha anime more than literally anything.
And yes, I am in quite a rut.
Also, someone throw some sort of high school drama at me cuz I feel like watching some of that stuff.

Full Metal Panic! does mecha. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, the companion series has high school.

From the New World, Psycho Pass, Chihayafuru if you don't care that it is just about a person getting into a sport and not about somebody saving the world, Bokurano, Kemono no Souja Erin (moves a little slowly),

:( Some of the science in Psycho Pass might fall under fridge logic, but I liked it for the most part.

Psycho Pass has one of the least believable dystopian future scenarios I have ever seen up to and including Minority Report's stupid bingo precognition machine. But outside of a barrage of minor nit-picks it was okay.

High School Drama... Rumbling Hearts?
They're technically college & beyond by the time it ends, but hey. The drama is certainly there.

Psycho Pass might not be a believable scenario, but for god's sake, the line "Don't use the dominator on her" makes up for that entirely. It could just be my immature sense of humor, but yeah.

...I didn't even see that. But now I can't not see it. All the dialogue sounds so crude now. Thanks Dino!

Why are the villains in SAO so shallow.

Because SAO season 2 wasn't that good and in SAO season 1 that wasn't the point of it? I mean the villain was only around for all of 1 or 2 episodes in the first season. The rest of it was about the journey.

Have not watched season 3, but my review still stands. Watch season 1, pretend season 2 never happened.

Any suggestions for the upcoming Fall season? I haven't seen many things that caught my eye.

No, but if you want suggestions in general you can follow the thread in my sig :).

Shameless plug here.

Okay. When you guys say fall season exactly what tv network or whatever are you watching? Or do you just mean all the shows coming out this fall?

Fate/Stay Night remake is the most hyped one. There's also some promising season 2's, in Chaika, Log Horizon and WIXOSS. There's a lot of others that have caught my interest, but I'll need to watch them before making a judgment.

Aincrad developer's motivation is summed up as I can't remember, and Alfheim and Gun Gale Online's antagonists are equally retarded.

The villain didn't matter in Aincrad though.

It helps the versimilitude of the setting scenario, which is dubius enough as it is. You don't just design goverment approved hostage micro-waves and forget about it. It mattered to me when I get let down at the lack of explanation of the ending.
Despite that, he still compares favorably to the frothing yandere rapists, because god forbid you make a reasonable human being with sympathetic qualities.

As Kayaba himself said, he wanted to believe that somewhere out there, Aincrad really existed.

Danna ga Nani Itterunoka Wakaranai Ken is a comedy for the slightly more grown up.
Being one of those short-short animes lasting 3~4 min per episode, it isn't much, but I think it's worth a look.

Grisaia no Kajitsu was a great Visual Novel (in my opinion), so I'd recommend that.

I'm... kind of moved.
I just watched ep 0 of the new Fate, and it's almost a word-for-word recreation of the VN.
I mean, it still skipped quite a few lines here and there, but just about every line said was taken straight out of the VN.
They also skipped almost no scenes, no matter how unimportant it may be to the plot (the three girls inviting Rin to lunch), etc.
As far as I can remember, the only thing they might have skipped was the talk Rin and her servant had in the... er, park? Where the 4th war ended.

At the same time, I kind of question the series' value as an anime.
I mean, the various scenes, especially the action scene, is very much high quality,
but the overall tempo at which the scenes moved seemed somewhat awkward.

Still, the new Fate looks amazing enough that I highly doubt I will be dropping it any time soon.

I have actually been able to avoid most of F/SN up until now, so I'm sort of excited. However, I think I might have liked Zero's first episode better, if nothing else because it introduced the other characters. Maybe SN is more singular in the focus of characters, in which case I'll be a bit sad, but Rin is better than I expected from her so far at least, given that I mostly only know that she's a tsundere.

Scenes did a great job of setting the mood, which I'll attribute to the music. Still a good episode, partly makes me wish all of them would be as long, but I suppose that won't happen.

So, let's see:
Log Horizon season 2 seemed to have slightly changed the art style, and the mage dude seems to have done a personality switch. Otherwise, seems sort of like the same, which I like.
World Trigger was charming, although I don't think I can call it good. White-hair needs to not do the dumb face all the time, it's pretty annoying.
WIXOSS season 2 was pretty cool, although I would have liked for more to happen in the first episode.
Denki-gai no Honya-san wasn't particularly funny for being a comedy show. Manager was the only character whose screen time I appreciated.
Madan no Ou to Vanadis is kind of cool. Seems to have put some effort into setting material. Main-character is rapidly approaching Gary Stu level.
Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete, I don't know. Someone needs to explain what happened at the end to me. Probably not going to bother watching.

So, just curious. If it really is tied, you can have more than 1, but if you had to pick, what is your favorite anime and why?
