Just for fun, I'm going to create a Rainbow deck that does nothing but ramp into the best bombs across all colors. I fully expect that the deck will stink, but hey, all my decks do. I'm going to build this on the fly and type as I go.

Let's start with the core of the deck; I think this needs to be a green deck because Satyr Wayfinder and Cultivate are going to be very important to make sure we can actually cast our spells. We are also going to need Darksteel Ingot because we always want to play some acceleration and fixing on the third turn. Then let's choose white as our secondary color because in a slow deck like this we want to have access to a reset button, and Planar Cleansing is perfect for that. Also note that our Ingots won't be destroyed, so that's great. That brings us to this:

The Core

4 x Satyr Wayfinder

4 x Cultivate
3 x Darksteel Ingot

2 x Planar Cleansing

The next step is to make sure we have some early plays so that we don't just roll over and die before we get to cast anything. Two-drop creatures that replace themselves are what we want so that we can get some early presence going while getting deeper into our deck. Luckily, we have both Elvish Visionary and Wall of Omens in our colors . Now we are here:

Early Game Established

4 x Satyr Wayfinder
4 x Elvish Visionary
3 x Wall of Omens

4 x Cultivate
3 x Darksteel Ingot

2 x Planar Cleansing

At this point I would like to add a touch of spot removal because I don't want to lean on two copies of a sweeper as my only removal in the entire deck. I'm playing two copies of Angelic Edict in another deck and that has worked out great so I will start there as a baseline and tweak as I play the deck some (if I don't end up discarding it!) I would also like to add some resilience because with so few creatures, losing one to removal can really hurt. I've found that two copies of Treasured Find are terrific in any deck with Satyr Wayfinder, and the ability to bring back a removal spell when you need it is great too. Here we are so far:

Utility Spells Added

4 x Satyr Wayfinder
4 x Elvish Visionary
3 x Wall of Omens
2 x Treasured Find

4 x Cultivate
3 x Darksteel Ingot

2 x Angelic Edict

2 x Planar Cleansing

Now we get to the fun part - adding the bombs! We are going to play 24 land as a starting point because we can't afford to miss any early land drops but we don't need more than 24 because we have Wayfinders, Cultivates, and Ingots in the deck. That means we have 48 slots already accounted for with 12 to play with. Kozilek is definitely going into this deck so let's look at each color's best bombs at 5+ mana to fill those last eleven slots:

:w: has Baneslayer Angel and Resolute Archangel (to an extent, the effect is bomby) so it's pretty thin. Baneslayer is in.

:u: actually has very little that's appealing to me; Soul of Ravnica is just a big beatstick (so is Baneslayer, but lifelink and first-strike are amazing while seven-mana activated abilities are not) and Mercurial Pretender looks fun but it requires another creature to be castable so I don't think I'm going to play it. I really should just drop the blue from the deck altogether but we're building a rainbow deck for the sake of it so I'm going to put in two copies of Counterlash; I think this deck should be able to afford a six-mana hard counterspell and you will sometimes get a free bomb out of it.

:b: has Indulgent Tormentor, Shadowborn Demon, Rune-Scarred Demon, and Griselbrand. I've never been impressed with the Tormentor in any deck I've tried him in so he's going to sit this one out and my boy Grizzlecards will be joining him because :b::b::b::b: is barely castable in a three-color deck. The other three Demons are in!

:r: has Stormbreath Dragon, Inferno Titan, and Siege Dragon. The first two are auto-includes but space is getting tight so I don't think Siege Dragon does enough for its seven-mana price tag.

We've filled nine of our twelve slots as we move into :g:, so I think it's pretty obvious that we just jam in three Pelakka Wurms and call it a deck. Green is our primary color, so that casting cost shouldn't be an issue. Arbor Colossus and Terra Stomper are nice, but I just think the Wurm does so much more that it's hard to even consider those other guys. I also looked really hard at Genesis Hydra because this deck should produce a ton of mana, but I'm going to start without it and see how it plays. Here is the deck now:

Bombs Added

4 x Satyr Wayfinder
4 x Elvish Visionary
3 x Wall of Omens
2 x Treasured Find

4 x Cultivate
3 x Darksteel Ingot

2 x Angelic Edict
1 x Baneslayer Angel
1 x Shadowborn Demon
1 x Stormbreath Dragon

2 x Planar Cleansing
2 x Counterlash
1 x Inferno Titan

3 x Pelakka Wurm
2 x Rune-Scarred Demon

1 x Kozilek, Butcher of Truth

Now to build a manabase for this mess. Our primary color is :g: and our secondary color is :w: so we're going to play the full set of Selesnya Guildgates automatically. Our splash colors all have very few cards each, but they all require two mana of their respective color so we are going to need one each of Island, Swamp, and Mountain to be able to fetch through Cultivate. Additional gates and the Darksteel Ingots should be sufficient fixing but we'll see. Our tertiary color is black because we have five cards in the deck that require black mana to cast, so I'm going to focus the mana sources in this order - :g::w::b::r::u:. Running twelve gates and twelve basics means that I have 36 sources to distribute among the five colors. Given that we want to cast our green and white spells on time, they will chew up the bulk of those sources. I'm thinking about 12-12-5-4-3 as a starting point so that brings us to this final deck:

Manabase Added

4 x Selesnya Guildgate
3 x Gruul Guildgate
3 x Orzhov Guildgate
1 x Azorius Guildgate
1 x Dimir Guildgate
5 x Forest
4 x Plains
1 x Island
1 x Swamp
1 x Mountain

4 x Satyr Wayfinder
4 x Elvish Visionary
3 x Wall of Omens
2 x Treasured Find

4 x Cultivate
3 x Darksteel Ingot

2 x Angelic Edict
1 x Baneslayer Angel
1 x Shadowborn Demon
1 x Stormbreath Dragon

2 x Planar Cleansing
2 x Counterlash
1 x Inferno Titan

3 x Pelakka Wurm
2 x Rune-Scarred Demon

1 x Kozilek, Butcher of Truth

That was a fun post to write, I hope the deck turns out to be playable. Off to the lobbies!

I was kinda thinking the same thing; I wanted to make a rainbow deck using every single mythic rare, lol.

I think you'll be missing a lot by not including Soul of Zendikar.

You really love that card, what's with the obsession? :p

I've gone 2-1 in my first three games because the opposition is bad, but my deck has had problems; if my opponents were playing real decks that did things then I would've gotten beaten pretty badly. The mana hasn't been great and Counterlash has been terrible so I have to rework the manabase and cut the 'Lash. Back to work.....

Okay here's an updated decklist with manabase changes and without Counterlash; I really should just cut the blue, but I want a Rainbow deck so Maelstrom Archangel is now my singleton blue card and fel's suggestion of Soul of Zendikar fills the final slot (I will ask myself whenever I draw it if Genesis Hydra would be better, though).

4 x Selesnya Guildgate
3 x Orzhov Guildgate
2 x Golgari Guildgate
2 x Boros Guildgate
1 x Gruul Guildgate
5 x Forest
3 x Plains
2 x Swamp
1 x Island
1 x Mountain

4 x Satyr Wayfinder
4 x Elvish Visionary
3 x Wall of Omens
2 x Treasured Find

4 x Cultivate
3 x Darksteel Ingot

2 x Angelic Edict
1 x Baneslayer Angel
1 x Shadowborn Demon
1 x Stormbreath Dragon
1 x Maelstrom Archangel

2 x Planar Cleansing
1 x Soul of Zendikar
1 x Inferno Titan

3 x Pelakka Wurm
2 x Rune-Scarred Demon

1 x Kozilek, Butcher of Truth

I get it though, on account of criticizing anyone's deck seems to be off limits here. I've seen you go from multiple paragraph explanations, down to one-liners like that over the last month or so.

Yeah, jaded is a good word. You can put forth the effort to help people, but if no one is listening then what's the point? I'm getting a bit weary of this place lately and mostly ignore the lists that I see popping up because people aren't interested in discourse, just high-fives and hoorays about their amazing lists.

I suppose it doesn't matter, though, because I'm just regurgitating dogmatic ideology that I don't even understand.

Chin up champ. Your posts help people. such as myself, even if I don't post.

I have successfully cast Maelstrom Archangel twice now; she has never attacked, but wow she's a sexy blocker with upside!

I think you want anger of the gods. If you don't see ramp or get land/color screwed (3 white), you'll want it. Tokens are everywhere. Saruli gatekeepers are also great for stabilizing and stalling aggro

if u do go with anger of the gods i would include travlers amulet and switch to 10 guildgates 14 basic. from a design standpoint with more basics tavaler is all 5 elements in conflux. it may not be your ideal turn 2 play but it adds options. it could replace a lands if your feeling lucky.

I agree. Your Cultivates are fetching eight basic lands anyway. It feels safe to assume that Satyrs are going to toss a few lands in the process. Fourteen basics sounds better

As much as I hate traveler's amulets and will at the very least always be against them in anything 3 colors or less it does make sense in a 5-color build.

Hello beautiful people above me with, with, functional decks! Unfortunately I am here now to sully the average. I have registered and was admitted into this forum, which makes you subject to my crazy decks. In my younger days, all I would want to have is the tightest most honed speed deck of death that everyone else was playing all tournamenty and stuff. Not so much anymore, however, winning with a deck you've never seen before that you made yourself, on a whim, is a great feeling. - OK THATS THE BEST INTRO I CAN MUSTER FOR THE NEXT PARAGRAPH and LISTING.

Behold, the amazingly surprisingly functionalism of (See if you can spot a pattern in these cards before you get to the name at the end)

0/15/11/0/3/4/3 < - It's got 2 curves!

2x Loyal Pegasus
2x Reprisal
3x Arrest - Thanks knar-gnar
2x Triton Shorestalker
2x Artful Dodge
1x Kraken of the Straits, Baby
2x Bloodghast
4x Flesh to Dust
1x Skullcrack
2x Goblin Shortcutter
3x Tectonic Rift
4x Spire Tracer
4x Wandering Wolf
1x Terra Stomper
1x Howlgeist
2x Hot Soup

3x Plains, 2x Island, 3x Swamp, 3x Mountain, 4x Forest
3x Rakdos
3x Selesnya
1x Dimir
2x Simic
And man, sure enough, if I didn't forget why I did these this way, something about not being able to decide. If you really think Kraken will make the difference, go ahead and skew the island count however you feel comfortable.

19 creatures, 17 spells, 24 land

It's called The (Rainbow) Can'tCan'tCan't deck.

Due to a possible undiagnosed aneurysm, I noticed the prevalence of the word Can't in this set of cards. I think this deck has at least 1 copy of every card that bothered to use the word can't somewhere in it. Did I miss any? (Flavor text was not considered, I would have to have a couple diagnosed aneurysms to make me want to build that to be functionalish) The result, is actually not bad for a 5 color rainbow deck built around such a negative (harebrained) concept.

Win-cons include, um, anything your opponent now Can't do because of the card you just played, like blocking, countering...ok I'm kidding, basically I would not have made this deck if it didn't have one badass win that lowers my opponent morale. Basically throw all the Can't you can at them attacking constantly. It's really a huge group of creatures with conditionals to blocking or not blocking them. Then send us all a screenshot of Terra Stomper wearing Hot Soup. Alternately get them down to 1-3 hit points, and bust out that Skullcrack. That's a win too I guess. ; ) I actually have won with this deck, surprisingly, maybe randomly, but still. All the times I have, it came down to these unblock able creatures. However, same creatures are coming out in my dreams and begging me to stop with the theme and bust out the Military Intelligence already. At least. I told them I can't.

I just wanted ya'll to know that I explored The Doesn't (Frost Lynx) and The Except (Mercurial Pretender) decks, and it just does not appear to be viable in the current Meta. Not enough cards. I thoroughly look forward to the rumored expansion's potential for conjunction-junction-what's-your-function-based-decks. See you then.

I can't thank you all enough.

: )

It is spam, and it isn't worth reposting. Why? Because where's the strategy? Where's the link to the original post so we can at least see what you were trying to accomplish? Or are we supposed to search through a bunch of pages because you couldn't be bothered to?

All this is, is a list of cards with no explanation. Something you've jumped on people in the past before for doing.

You shouldn't expect anyone to care about the substitution of a card or two when you can't even be bothered to explain why you changed them for what you did, or what the deck is trying to do as a whole (strengths, weaknesses, etc) As a result it's nothing more than spamming old content, and you know it.

If you don't want to be called out on double standards, don't have them.

My decks don't need strategy, they're the same derivative cut-and-paste decks all the n00bs play. :)

Enjoy your day.

Seriously Hakeem, nobody has posted here in over a week and then you come in a try to generate any form of discussion?

All kidding aside how has the singleton Edict been? Although, I suppose treasured find allows you to use it a couple more times. Seems like Mercurial Pretender could have a nice home here in it's place.
