Can spells such as Sacred Flame be used to knock enemies unconscious? I don't remember whether that's allowed per the rules.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in most cases the tie goes to the one rolling?

So Haldar sets the DC at 13 and then the goblin rolls and gets a 13 which means he meets the DC. Right?

I believe it to be so, yes. It would be the same with, idk, death saving throws right. You need a ten or higher, so a ten works.
SO in this case, it would be a 13 or higher, and he rolled a 13

That was my line of thinking. 10 or higher works on a death save, if you hit exactly someones AC then you hit them, etc.

That's probably something that should be in the book somewhere, but I dont recall ever seeing it.

Speaking of natural ones though. I'm playing a bard in a 5e game who has +3 DEX and a -1 STR. I attempt to throw a torch and get it to land on a ledge above me and then start to climb up the wall. Well the dice gods saw it fit to give me a natural one on my DEX check and a natural twenty on the STR. :roll:

So, I assume you manage to climb the wall, but the torch lit your clothes on fire in the process?

The torch ended up in the stream nearby and went out, luckily not only do I have darkvision but someone had just cast Light since I was flinging the torch around.

Back to this game though, I just realized that the only person who speaks goblin is the ranger who's currently an alternate. :V Guess he's gonna speak some common.

Rhasta has spent most of his life in Neverwinter proper right? Or has he been out towards Phandalin prior?

He grew up in some town outside of Neverwinter large enough to have a thieves guild, and moved to Neverwinter after that. I did not specify where or what that town was, because I did not know of such a place :/

The group im DMing on GitP beat it in one round without a scratch. Two ranged nuked goblins to the north, the wizard put the two to the south asleep, rogue kills a sleeping goblin and they take the other hostage.

I also just watched another group have two players knocked unconscious cause after three rounds only 4 of the party's attacks had hit.

Level 1s are completely at the mercy of the dice. Heh.
