Satyr wayfinder and cultivate with all the cantrips make the mana very stable. I managed to play 5 colour off wayfinder and cultivate with gates. It just means you may be a turn later sometimes.

Exactly, you are usually a turn slower than you should be from 3-5 but the mana is very good. If I have an uncastable spell in hand, it's usually my own fault for jamming Wayfinder without thinking about what to look for.

After playing all morning and not losing a single game, I've realized that the deck doesn't need Hunter's Prowess; most of my bombs have flying or trample anyway, so it's just a win-more card here. If I needed it to force through damage then I'd play it, but I don't. In its place I'm going to add a singleton Treasured Find.

My opponent just had an inferno Titan with a Burning Anger on it and Roasted my Rune-Scarred Demon (had fetched an Anger for his early aggression before Titan hit the table); he then proceeded to roast two successive Pelakka Wurms but I drew my Griselbrand off the last one. I played him on eleven mana and had to dig 14 cards deep to find a Ground Assault, but it did the job. He nuked Grizzlecards with a Volcanic Geyser on his turn, but my follow-up Genesis Hydra for 10 hitting Soul of Zendikar into Stormbreath Dragon and Shadowborn Demon to clear his blocker gets me in for exactly 20. How can you not want to play Griselbrand, Fel?

Also, this could be the best deck in the format because I still haven't lost a game yet today (probably somewhere close to 15 straight at this point). If there were a for-stakes tournament tomorrow, I would register this list in a heartbeat.

PS. Shadowcran would be happy to know that I'm now ranked 192 on Xbox up from 239 yesterday just by playing this deck. :)

Are we really going to retort to anecdotal evidence?

Just wanted to point out that my Reanimator Deck has a 100% winning ratio online. (I've played with it exactly once, and I won the game).

Hey, it works for everybody else. And I think you missed my sarcasm, somehow. ;)

Actually, I meant to say "Don't talk to me until you've played it". Stay outta this discussion until then. :p

So I finally got round to testing your list Hakeem, you are right on hunters prowess being under whelming. However I still think 1 rescue from the underworld is correct. My last slot is now 1 treasure find as it can get back any threat but can also let you get back removal in a pinch.

Outside of that I wouldn't change a thing. Good work. There are a few situational cards like anger and Griselbrand but having then available to you is important for different matches.

I swapped the Prowess for Treasured Find, as well. It's nice to be able to tutor it through Rune-Scarred when the card you really want is in the graveyard.

Have you considered swapping 1 rager for 1 reclamation sage? Minimal effect on your draws but with 2 tutors and 2 graveyard recursion cards it may come in handy. Rager is the weakest card in the deck and will be the first card that gets swapped out for upgrades when the dlc hits.

You're running ramp. Mold Shambler would be better, no?

I don't think so, shambler is bad off hydra and destroying lands is not worth the extra mana to just get a 3/3.

3/3 is way more relevant against aggro decks than a 2/1, though.

very solid deck Hakeem but i would try to fit in some early defenders in case you can't rip a Pelakka to stave off the life loss from an aggro rush. i'd also consider Ogre Jailbreaker since you're always gonna have a Gate. i'm not sure that deck needs Visionary, Wayfinder, AND Phyrexian Rager; two of those three would probably suffice. imo.

The early removal is enough but if you feel you need something extra I would add a couple of saruli gatekeepers.

Fel - I get that a 3/3 is better vs aggro but I would never want to play as hill giant and 6 mana for that effect is too much in my opinion.

Mold Shambler is great in Advocate of the Beast decks, but outside of that, yeah, i don't think they're worth it simply because the current ramp options are not sufficient for my tastes. at least with an Advocate deck he becomes at least a 4/4 more often than not.

You're spot-on on the Wayfinder/Visionary/Rager package being overkill, but your suggestion of Jailbreaker was off my radar and it's really good (at least in theory). Let me explain.

Since this deck is an evolution of my Abzan list it has a lot in common; twelve gates, a bunch of early creatures that replace themselves, and a devastating group of bombs. The difference between the two lists, however, is that my Abzan has seven four-drops while this deck has none.

Why is this important? Because we're playing twelve gates. The typical way to curve out with Abzan is Gate/Basic/Gate/Basic which lets you play two two-drops into a four-drop as your first three plays. With the Jund list there are a lot more three-drops so it isn't nearly as easy to play Gates and curve out at the same time. Swapping Ragers for Jailbreakers fixes the curve problem while adding a creature that survives Anger of the Gods and bricks aggro much harder. I like the idea a lot.

Honestly, I'm surprised I missed that because Jailbreaker is a major pet card of mine; he's a big piece of my Grixis control list. Thanks Mythic, I'll test the list swapping Ragers for Jailbreakers and see how it goes.

once i started running Jailbreakers they became a staple of several of my decks as well. he seems to be very under-used by players i encounter.

i'm going to revisit the Jund deck i posted earlier and [s]steal[/s] incorporate some of the ideas in yours. i'll post the list after i test it a bit later.

I think I would rather have grave born muse and saruli gatekeepers over jail breaker but I will test and see how it goes.
