From an RP point of view, my character was admonished for taking the initiative, so he's not being as proactive as he could be.

I ain't exactly got any skills that could help in this situation unless you want me to just rush wildly across the room and try and wing it. Also I'm not really sure what to say at this juncture - nothings really changed from the last time I poked the dwarf out of boredom.

I've taken the liberty of identifying on the MAP both the protruding box as well as the fresco image of a door, since those two items seem to have piqued Thibor's interest.

Also, just to be clear in case there has been a misunderstanding, the door in question is part of the Frescos that adorn the ceiling and walls. It's a painted image of a barred torture chamber door with some monstrous creature peaking out form being it. Not, in fact, a real door.

So, my Safewing amulet makes it so that I always land on my feet and that I can't take damage from falls smaller than 20 feet. Does that change the damage? It should at least make it so I haven't fallen prone.



Also, don't we get a reflex save to catch ourselves before we fall?

To be clear, your safewing amulet doesn't make you immune to falling prone, it just means that you always land on your feet after a fall. In this case, falling prone is more-so an effect of the trap than an effect of the fall (you try and stay standing after landing on a bunch of poisoned spikes!), so yes you're still prone. As for the damage, I DID reduce the damage for you accordingly. That's why you only took 11 instead of 16 like Agamemnon.

And regarding reflex saves, that's not how it works in 4th Edition (you're thinking 3e or 3.5 or pathfinder). In 4e there aren't three types of saving throws (Ref/Fort/Will), just one type of generic saving throw that is used to overcome debilitating ongoing effects. Instead of making a Reflex Save, as you would have had to in past editions, the trap actually had to make an attack roll against your Reflex defense. Had it missed, you would not have fallen in the hole.

Can anyone heal me without me having to use a healing surge? If not, OK. I'm just down 40ish points of damage and would need to use 2 surges to refill.

Generally speaking most healing in 4th edition uses healing surges. Finding healing that does not require a surge is rare, and usually the effect of a daily power. That being said, some characters are able to let you take more advantage out of your surges than others. Case and point: when you spend a surge on your own you just get your surge value, but if you spend a surge because a cleric used Healing Word on you, you'll get your surge value +Xd6 extra hp.
