what do the watermarks mean?

As I can tell "Cares about card type" with the mark being the future sight symbol for the type the card cares about

Disclaimer: I know nothing about design or development and I only started reading about this project today.

My reactions to the cards:

I'm really going to have to shorten up Adaptive Yeti's flavour text. Consider it on my to-do list. Also, instead of a scout, I was going to attribute it to a scholar who wrote a book on the plane's fauna. Then I'd put the book on a bunch of cards.
Also, Anjomeddon, THe Sun Itself gives Elori a run for it's flavourful name money.

I like it! Just to elaborate on this a little, maybe: "The Steelsoul buffoons from the other side speak of honor. Maybe in the sun, but not here. Here in Frostwynd, honor died with the dawn."


Way ahead of you! I'd actually already made that change; I just haven't uploaded it yet.



Looking over the spoiler, there are only three cards that jump out at me as needing to be changed mechanically, and they all happen to be Black.

First of all, Shamebearer should be a 3/1, not a 1/3. Not the biggest deal in the world, but a 1/3 in black just doesn't feel right, and switching the P/T makes it mirror Lightbearer better IMHO.

Second of all, Icy Whisper just doesn't feel right to me in its present form. I think it should cost , hit sorceries as well as instants, cantrip, and be bumped up to Rare.

Lastly, I've been unsatisfied with Eater of Dreams ever since I designed it. Salvage Titan would have worked fine if we'd decided to go with colored artifacts, given the prevalence of Relics. But there just aren't enough enchantments in Black for a card like Eater of Dreams to make sense. I propose the following overhaul:

Layer of Waste –
Creature – Demon (R)
Flying, trample
You may sacrifice an artifact, a creature, an enchantment, and a land rather than pay Layer of Waste's mana cost.
A harbinger of destruction in a world with nothing left to destroy.

What do people think about those three changes?

I think Springhaven Hospitaler might have been a more appropriate name than Springhaven Medic. It's not a soldier that travels around with an army, it just hangs out in one part of Frostwynd and heals people. Plus there's a million medics in Magic and no hospitalers. Seems neat.

Black should not be sacrificing enchantments, whether it's three of them or just one of them along with some other permanents. Dark Prophecy is a lot less interesting when you can easily turn it off in-color.

Changing Shamebearer sounds good. I'd rather keep Icy Whisper at uncommon (and probably monocolor) to emphasize the spells theme in limited; maybe and make it grab instants or sorceries? I'm scared of the cantrip version because playing that on Instruments of Torture or Subterranean Scrawlings would be hella value, but maybe that's a good thing.

Could I get the latest version of the MSE file please?

I'm going to change Cansiz's name to Xeth. Sound cool?

Also, I'm just going to cut Eater of Dreams from the set altogether, because Shazzeh is right about black sacrificing enchantments.

Lastly, I'm going to merge Ethereal Form and Steam Cloak into the following card:

Ethereal Steamcloak –
Enchantment – Aura (U)
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature is an enchantment in addition to its other types and can't be blocked.

Xeth isn't the lich's name. Right now it's Cansiz. We're looking into something more Incan, but haven't really made a decision yet.
Not related to the changes, but I think Consortum Customs should be a loxodon. 2/4 is pretty big for a human soldier.

1/3s in black are legit. Bane Alley Blackguard says so.

I'm going to change Anjomeddon's subtitle from The Sun Itself to Harbinger of Flame. Is that ok with everybody? TP, especially? I just don't want people to get confused, because I think that the flavor of "He thinks he's the sun but really isn't" doesn't come across in the name on its own.


Can you give me a name for Cansiz besides Xeth, then?

How about Wanuranti? It's Incan for Death on Earth.

I like it.

Something that was bothering me:

We have four lands that can produce or become an artifact in the set: Barren Manifest, Metalscape, Quiet Factory, and The Manufactory.

Meanwhile, we have no lands that care about enchantments. Since Barren Manifest being a Scarecrow artifact in addition to a creature was added on as an afterthought, I'm going to change it from an artifact creature to an enchantment creature, with the flavor text: Magic adores a vacuum.
