You can follow your roll with your normal stealth check. Do not bother with any unknown bonus, I will apply it if applicable.

Yes, I let his death vague, but Shockwave asked for 3 weeks and I gave him that time. When he said he was back, but failed to be present for more than a week, I decided to remove him since I don't want to be a player for more time than strictly necessary.

Be prepared. It will be a 1000 foot drop inside a pool of magma with 10 foot electrified and poisoned spikes at the bottom. Then an earthquake will collapse the whole cave and I will throw a meteor over it just for fun. :evil:

What is your impression of encounter 5? If nobody liked it, I will not use the model for other similar encounter.

@Felbatista.

You will not be allowed to act at surprise round. You will need to spend an action to stand and one more to retrieve the lantern (if you want). Then you can start climbing the 10 feet distance to the abyss ledge, move 2 squares and then you will be with the other characters.

So, I need one move action to stand up, one to retrieve the lantern, more to climb and then I still need to move 2 more squares. Is that correct? And I can't move in the surprise round. I hope I can reach my friends before their death. Can I throw the lantern to them without breaking it? How difficult would that be?

About encounter 5, I liked it, but I think it had too many challenges and it didn't let us be creative with our powers (might be a problem with the fact that we are on lvl 1). Improving a couple of things, it might be a good change of pace here and there.

I liked the concept, it was like a skill challenge but a bit more narrow. I think if there would be a way to incorporate a team effort, like a series of skill checks different team members needed to make or something, that would add a bit more roleplay to the scenarios. As it was we just rolled and hoped.

Very interesting though. It's always nice to try something different!

I enjoyed it for the most part but I do think I could have done without a deadline. I understand why you would have wanted one but I feel we could have handled almost all of those skill checks a little better if we had had some time to think them over - though I suppose that is a failing of us as a party more then anything else.

Deadline was to make it flow faster, otherwise we would have lost 2 months in this encounter. It was based in the escape pod sequence of an old game "Red Alert". I could put more RP opportunities, but I would have to work much harder to be able to do that.

@Rstnme

You can only do one action at surprise round. Minor, standard or move action, it doesn't matter.

Yes, it is right. You will spend the surprise round recovering from the pain. To retrieve the lantern is entirely optional if you want and the move action to reach the combat zone can be finished at the combat zone. You can throw the lantern, but it is a very breakable object, specially if there is none to catch it.
