Thinking of lost opportunities, Lia Xin scrawled the character for ascension and slipped into the void. The people who she had stayed with had seemed so nice, so tolerant, and so unfazed by her clothing and manner. She wanted that to be her home, but no, a zealous village priest had found out about her muteness, and lookie, there was a lynch mob, complete with torches and placards.

She landed in a park. Luckily, not a busy one, for that might have caused some odd looks. An empty one. It looked like a park one might find in a city though, so that was good. All she needed was a place to stay, and a job. Job first. She didn't suppose it would be that hard.

She walked into what looked like a quite small town. Small houses, that didn't extend out very far. She ought to look for a tavern, she supposed. She found one quite easily. Some things stayed the same wherever you were. She didn't recognise the writing on the sign though. Yet another system?

"Hello, little lass! What can I do for you"
Lia wrote in the Jakkardian writing she had been so pleased to learn some of. 'I would like food and drink please'. This was a phrase she had been very proud of.
"Sorry, dear, but that doesn't look like any writing I've ever seen. You must have travelled a long way."
Lia mimed eating and drinking.
"Ah, you want food and drink. Well, a meal will be three copper, and a drink will be one"
Lia slid some coin over to the man.
"What the hell is this? Wait, is that gold? Holy hell it is! It must be worth... Absolutely nothing! This is worth nothing so I'll just give you a meal and a night here out of total pity!"

Lia sighed. Some things never changed. One of the was the greediness of humans. Still, she couldn't really argue with the man, given that she'd probably left three gold pieces less well off, and without a place to stay. She nodded. She got the feeling that that nod came quite a while after when it was supposed to.
"Ah yes right, your meal will be over in a while"

A woman sat down next to Lia. She smiled at them.
"What are you doing here alone?". Lia shrugged. She wondered whether to try mime, but couldn't think of anything
"Quiet one hey? Well, I hope you're OK". Lia shrugged again. She touched her throat, and shook her head energetically.
"What? Oh you can't talk at all. Poor thing.". Lia nodded.
"Are you a planeswalker?", the woman whispered in her ear. Lia not only nearly, but actually, fell off her chair. She nodded yes, and mouthed 'how?'.
"I'm also one", the woman whispered. "Cara Holis. What's your name?". Lia mouthed her name, as well as she could.
"Lia Shin hey? Hey Lia, did you know something about this plane? Right now, we are all about one and a half centimetres tall. This is Sergovia, a plane in miniature". Lia's mouth made an O shape. How weird it was to think that anywhere else, she'd be dead by now. Someone walked up to the woman, Cara Holis, and whispered something to her.
"Oh? Oh dear. I have to go now Lia. See you later?"

Lia awoke from her bed in the Inn to shouting and banging outside her door. She opened it. "The witch herself, Lia Shin! You are poisoning our land with your devilish poison! Even your name is evil, scum! You have 7 letters in your name! That is the devil's number! I, Amerlan, banish you! You must leave to the demonic realm and never come back for ten thousand generations!" Oh dear. Lia was slightly scared, but she knew she didn't have to be. This had happened many times before. Thinking of lost opportunities, Lia grabbed her brush out of her bag and scrawled the character for ascension. Some things, she noted, never changed.

There are a few odd word choices, and Lia is less solemn than she usually is. Cara sort of just shows up and leaves, also far less solemn than she usually is. I wouldn't say this piece is GREAT but I also would not say that "you can't write". In fact, this piece reminds me of how I used to write a few years ago!

I actually like the idea of people specifically not naming themselves/their children names with seven letters, because its evil. That's sort of a cool touch. I'm not sure how they came to the conclusion that Lia was poisoning their stuff. Another interesting touch is, when Lia mouth her name, Cara mispronounces it as "shin", which leads to the little problem in the first place! I was amused.

The story is a tad rushed, and could stand to use a few paragraph breakers around the dialogue. It looks like it's less than 200 words, so you definitely have a lot of room to improve if you ever felt up to polishing it.
